The Power of Chi! Official Iron Fist thread!

In the fingercramp tutorial I saw jago cancel st.H on pushblock into another st.H at around 7:40 in the video. Does anyone know how he did this? It looked like he did st.H, qcf.L, st.H, but he canceled qcf.L out of its start up into st.H. I didn’t know this was possible.
edit: Maybe he cuts the video at that point. Its hard to tell.

Had a very cool moment just now.

My IF against his Strider.
In corner, he blocks my first rekka, advance guarded my second and then did Legion Hyper. I did the third flying kick rekka and whoooosh, KO while flying right through all the robot tigers. It was brilliant

I played some casuals today with Fist on point, and he works wonderfully… until your opponents begin to adv. guard.

Even kara cancel is not good enough. But he does hit hard as hell so if you get a good hit confirm and don’t choke (like I did a lot of times lol) you will probably kill their character…

Having the worst time trying to open people up, IF just feels so one dimensional as far as mix-up goes. Any tips?

honestly after watching chris g
i think staggering block strings maybe very effective for us especially against advanced guard happy opponents

also i think the parry would be pretty effective too but pretty risky

opening them up is very hard but when we do we make it hurt so don’t be discouraged ,it’s also really early so hopefully we’ll find effective ways, so keep at it

Didn’t get to see Chris G play him but I’m totally trying out staggering block strings rather than attempting to kara all my moves in hopes to stay in or net a hit. Mixing and matching the two techniques is probably best but staggering plus hit-co seems to be the way to go at this point (at least against players who stay grounded long enough for him).

In the middle of this video, I made some Iron Fist BnBs that uses his L Chi for more damage and use some combos that can work midscreen and in the corner. It was weird getting used to his weird launcher, but this guy is just too awesome to pass up! I have Iron Fist and Nemesis in my secondary team, so this video just happens to have both of them in it.

You guys probably already know this but the green chi builds extra meter even when IF takes damage. Not sure how useful that would be though.
Edit: Also f+H is a pretty ambiguous cross-up on incoming characters.

Who are you guys finding to be your worst matchups?

To me it was Arthur and Ghost Rider, not saying that Arthur is godlike but those two were the only keepaway characters that I’ve played against using Danny so far.

Still didn’t played online yet

Yeah, Ghost Rider is definitely top of the list for me so far. I’ve played a few online and while it’s not impossible to get in, he just keeps getting those little hits that eventually stack up. His j.S is really good. My Strider assist barely helps because if I’m not fullscreen, Strider can get tagged as he comes out.

Armored characters can be annoying as well, I’d say Hulk is the worst one to fight since you never know when that random gamma charge is coming. Against Nemesis I just spam instant j.H into J.S, since it will hit him even if he’s crouching while providing that air throw OS.

i actually haven’t run into an arthur yet :frowning:
but ghost rider with hidden missiles is the worst thing ever, because if missiles start you have to address them, ghost rider is tough without it but you just have to fish really well for that opening and then blow him up
i haven’t fought many but dr.strange is not a fun match at all i actually don’t know what to do it was pretty sad
dorm was rough but manageable i’d say

I actually plan to start Dante every time I see a Ghost Rider on point lol

Ghost Rider and Wesker are horrors for me. Basically anything that jumps and shoots stuff a lot

Ghost Rider, Wesker, Firebrand

People who either keep away or are often teleporting/in the air

Tough time with Vergil weirdly, I’ve only played really good Vergils, but he just seems to outclass my IF every single time.

vergil seems so much like zero in the sense they just swing around their sword and out prioritize you while left/right mixing you up but i think i only had problems against them because of lack of experience more then the matchup being terrible

Vergil is not that bad, you just have to block and punish

True, just need a little more match-up experience. One Modok really did me in one time as well, the barriers and balloon bombs are great for keeping IF out.

Nice to hear everyone’s thougts.

They really need to give this guy a quick low that isn’t sweep. Holy shit, it’s so hard to open people up. I’ve pretty much been getting almost all my damage from air throws with the occasional OTG off Vajra assist. I’ve been trying to bait pushblocks with :l: delayed :m: with limited success. I don’t really kara any rekkas because once someone pushblocks it’s just straight to :ub:
