I dont understand how hes slow, but anyone could piece together that his launcher would be terrible. I hope capcom fixes that shit lol.

the bad launcher is almost certainly intentional. They want you doing extended ground level chains, not repeated aerial combos.

I do wonder though, is it hard coded to not hit air at all, or just a really tiny hitbox?

eh, the eurogamer analysis didn’t really offer up a ton of info that we didn’t know already. I think unless the properties of his launch change, the way to go from his otg would be continuing the rekkas most likely, not that It’s a bad thing.

I dunno I feel like with only doing real damage via ground chains, I think if he landed like an anti-air hit he’d have a hard time converting that into good/decent damage.

Who knows? He’d probably have She-hulk like air loops.

that is a very good point, but there are two things that could possibly help to alleviate this. first off, I believe seth demonstrated how some of his normals were jump cancelable, which we Havn’t seen much application from yet. Also, remember that that both of his rekka enders with S cause a wallbounce, which could possibly lead to some high damage situations.

I’m just going to wait for impressions from today’s fight club. I heard that JWong was gonna check out Iron Fist today, so I hope that he comes back with some good info.

I’m kind of late to the game with this, but I both love and hate his alt colors. Mainly because they should have used the Daredevil costume instead of the doppelganger red one. (I probably wouldn’t use it anyway, though.) Now I just need Zero and Doom to get white or purple alts and I’ll be all set.

All I’ve got from it so far is that his wavedash is gooood.

Played a bunch of games w/ Ironfist/Vergil today and went on a tear. At this point, Iron Fist seems like the kind of character that very few people will become great with simply because if you don’t have the right natural skills and discipline to win with him, it’s just not going to happen. His damage output is very good and people will be doing 700-800+ combos within one day of training mode. His wavedash is good as mentioned. I was hitting people all day with his overhead axe kick special. and his standing normals as you have seen have some good range. But in terms of mobility, he takes the term “ordinary guy” to a whole new level. He’s really only got one way to get in on you and that’s straight at you. To my knowledge, he has no specials he can do in the air to cover himself or change where he’s falling. So if you super jump, your opponent will know where you’re going to land. His crouching normals have next to no range and I’m not sure if they even hit low. OTGing after an air throw is very situational.

He will benefit greatly from any assist that forces the opponent to stand still and block. But with the way this game is being geared more towards zoning, i see him turning out to be a very hit or miss type of character.

Something I just thought of – since Danny’s launcher doesn’t hit airborn opponents well, would it be possible to do something like st.MH xx Crescent Heel (or another move) to knock them down, then launch?

Sounds like Hidden Missiles and Unibeam (since it’s faster now) will be his BFF assists. Lockdown to get in with the stupid wave dash and go into a blockstring for your mixup. Also sounds like you have to approach playing with him the same way you’d play SF4 since he has no specials or dashes in the air.

Speaking of which - does he have any standout anti-air options?

Either that or Dark hole and Eye of agammato for the lock down.

Fist is sounding pretty redonk to me. some say he’s slow and he’ll have difficulty with keepaway, but seriously, take a look at the way the game is shaping up. his simple combos already do stupid damage, lots of characters already have lower comparative health to vanilla, his wavedash is fast and he seems like generally nimble character, combine all that with xfactor (weakened but still deadly) and people will be dieing VERY quickly when they get hit by him. and it doesn’t seem like it’ll be hard to open ppl up with him either.

Iron Fist looks fine as is. If he gets more mobility and opening up options he would be S tier. I think people are just spoiled with how easy it is for certain other characters to mix up (wolverine, Dante, Magneto, etc). Those of us that play characters like Cap, Ryu, Skrull, Hulk, Chris are used to having to make options.

But it does look like he will struggle greatly against any character with moderate keep away ability. He will probably end up being like dudley and gief in sf 4, you can spend 80 seconds of the match keeping him out, and then he gets in and mixes you up 3 times and you lose the entire game. Of course I could be 100 percent wrong and he ends up like the canucklehead but at the moment I don’t see it.

I don’t like the fact that his s don’t hit airborne opponents. maybe that’d the time to use the up kicks

Not that he couldn’t have a purple outfit, I just can’t see him looking good with it.
