Heh, I gotta be honest I’m constantly reminding myself of that when I get excited about a new char, altho my version is always ‘divekick doesn’t hit overhead Wolverine is going to be terrible!’ On the other hand, the masses were right about dante
I’m super excited about Iron Fist.
Will be in the lab with him a few minutes after release, will be trying out a all new character team that will include Iron Fist and Hawkeye for sure. While a slower projectile assist seems to almost always be better (Drones) hopefully Hawkeye can provide some cover for IF to get in.
He looks fantastic.
After watching his Rekka series options in the extended character breakdown video, wow. Add an assist that holds them in place and handles advancing guard and it will get dirty.
It’s just a matter of seeing how his neutral game does, but I think he has the mix-up options he needs right there. Would still like to see what he can do off an air or ground throw, though.
You see his ground throw once, boots them pretty far away.
How his air throw works is more important. As long as it drops them close enough to OTG stomp then it’s all good
kinda worried that Iron fist wont be able to relaunch thanks to that terrible launcher he has. Would make his wallbounce combos and air loop combos(if he has any) pretty limited too. Maybe his specials are good enough for these situations though, or perhaps im just worrying too much lol. I tend to do that with the characters I like.
For a combo, I’d thinking it’d open up interesting opportunities if he could do that type of relaunch combo where you just carry them to the ground and never use jumping S, like one that Zero has. Then you could do QCB+H, jump cancel on the first hit, and do something like BCS. Then you’re really close to the ground for an easy OTG.
His up kicks being cancelable on the first hit means that they can be canceled INTO THEMSELVES with a Tiger Knee motion.
Along with any other rekka if you finished the chain with those.
I will finish my bnbs with upkicks into Dragon Fang when I don’t want to spend meter.
Has anyone seen the following move in any of the videos so far?

I couldn’t see it in his air series during his combos so it may be an air command normal or maybe (fingers crossed) a dive kick, although if he had a dive kick i would think Seth would have mentioned it in the walk through video.
That video was 2 minutes long including intros so I doubt it covered all command normals

Check out Gamespot - there’s a 6 minute walkthrough of everything. Gimme a sec, I’ll link ya.
EDIT: Here ya go | http://www.gamespot.com/events/tgs-2011/video.html?sid=6334712&pid=637240
Again, whoever is in charge of this thread should be updating the first post with this stuff.
Gamespot player is all jacked up on my work comp, I’ll have to check it out on lunch. Thanks!
YOOOOOOOOOOOOO, brb in 6 minutes
Alright so one thing I learned, his Jam Kick assist is FAST
I usually only watch the gameplay vids until the walkthroughs are released. Watching gameplay tends kill the creativity for me. I like to just learn what the character has available from the breakdown then let my imagination take over until I can hit the lab. This is probably the first time I think I’ve had this much of a handle on a character before I’ve even played him. I’ve got all types of stuff running through my head.
I think it has more to do with the fact that we already know how MVC3 works than that.
I just know how I operate. Preview gameplay stuff really never does anything for me because the gameplay is always so bad to begin with. You get nice little properties of stuff here and there, but overall I can’t get a good feel for the characters that way.
Gotta love the gameplay videos that come with the trailers. You can just about hear the guys playing: “Ok, now you stop blocking.” . . . “Alright stand still so I can do this move.” Builds hype, tells us very little useful info, sort of like the Unity streams.
I really like the gameplay trailers, it shows a lot of things you can do with the characters, like Iron Fist being able to power up after crumple, OTG and stuff.
Yeah I know the breakdowns by Seth cover this aspect as well, but the gameplay trailers come first.

Another preview, not much new, but Seth confirms that Chi Power-ups don’t stack (at least for now) and that his “Berserker Barrage” hyper is armored.
