Indeed AlboShinobi, damn…

there hasn’t been a lot of footage of combofiend’s guy lately so it’s good to see something recent.

To bad that Ken owned him, he ate alot of DP’s, but I liked the way he FA’s through the FB and does a BC

Joon’s ken is no joke though, definitely an underrated player along with Banana Ken.

Combofiend was doing some smart stuff in those matches regardless though.Still don’t see any use of run stop from him which is a shame. It might have been a good way to break through Joons defense because he clearly knew about the whole ambiguous crossup shenanigans that combo was running. He was blocking the crossups and SRKing every elbow. If he had changed his game around and started using run stop combined with some counter hit setups he may have scored some nasty combos.

Wow so many DP’s against Guy’s cross up. His jump seems so slow as well. Although that FADC past the hadoken into bushin chain was niice. It’s easy saying this here, but maybe there should have been some attempt to bait kens shoryu, he seemed keen to do it. Perhaps even use ex izuna reversal.

It’s so tempting to take risks with Guy, like that ex hozanto that lost him the first round. I think combofiend should be playing in that hadocon tournie.

combofiend’s guy vs LPN’s adon from Hadocon at about the 34:00 mark. there was one instance where LPN got his super blocked while guy was in the corner and instead of doing ff chain throw to get adon in the corner combofiend just did TC xx jab shoulder to punish… i didn’t really like that decision.

Man, I was playing some 20K+ BP Guile today, and just over 5K PP - and I’m saying to myself he has definitely got to be better than that lamerboi there, cos I got beat pretty much consistently by him.

Or maybe combofiend is just that much better.

Anyway the guile I was playing against was isoud or something like that. You guys notice how combofiend was trying to make guiles cross up’s whiff by using the crouching HP to move his body? It worked, but at times it didn’t either - risky manouver. Probably should be used sparingly. I think if you find a good exploit against your opponent, don’t overuse it otherwise it won’t work again.

@ af0
It looked like to me he was doing some kind of fake cross under, but what ever it was, it seemed to work. And ironiclly, Comofiend Guy reminds me of my Guy, calm, less mistakes and good punishes. I may have to start wacthing some of his vids. Good post
IZIEIRIOI.

Thanks!
I noticed that too, he seems to never use run stop or bushin flip in his blockstrings.
I like his throw setup with the cr.lk on wakeup, it caught lamerboi so many times.
It’s weird how guile used to seem like one of guy’s harder matchups yet now he seems pretty easy.
I love how the commentators were still impressed with guy, like they don’t know just how good he can really be.

Combofiend plays a really good guy. Nothing to flashy or unnecessary just enough to get the job done and keep himself out of danger. Nice stuff its always difficult to find good CF footage.

a bunch of new kiryu footage got uploaded to youtube today. including a 4 part set against staygold’s ryu… it’s not pretty though. kiryu gets roughed up pretty bad… staygold just knows the guy matchup too damn well. on a side note love that kiryu’s using U1 a lot more. lands a pretty sweet cl. strong xx run stop > cr. jab > cl. fierce xx EX shoulder FADC U1 in this vid. there’s also a point where guy’s st. jab hits sagat’s st. short whiff. thought that looked kind of funny.

and does another FADC U1 combo here in this match

also some more of combofiend’s guy against clakeyD’s ibuki. during one of the matches guy’s st. forward stuffs ibuki’s slashkicks(whatever the hell you call them), so glad that moves’s gonna be faster in AE.

MAD who uploaded the stuff vs Ryu ?

SpotATrain

honestly i just don’t think kiryu punishes properly enough against ryu. he lets staygold get away with too many unsafe cr. forward xx fireball block strings, instead of focus absorbing the fireball dashing in and punishing with ff chain or U2. he also doesn’t punish blocked sweeps from ryu with EX shoulder even when he’s sitting on 3 or 4 stocks. that’s a free punish… and if you’ve got the meter and you’re close enough to the corner you can FADC U1(although kiryu uses U2 in the ryu matchup).

i think if he punished staygold more consistently it’d scare him from doing certain things and make him start second guessing doing unsafe things like cr. forward xx fireball. it looks to me like staygold control’s every match they have because kiryu’s not giving him enough reason to be afraid of guy. just my opinion on their matches.

When I come across good Ryu’s or high ranked ones they always think they can get away with crowding you, for sure you have to show them like it is or it makes for a tougher match.

Maybe he Kiryu is more afraid of the player in question ?

@af0

The name rings a bell, I played a french guile player, who was 5k pp and 20k+ bp. I actually beat him in a super close match the first time, saved the replay for the lulz, (Finished with fake cross up FF chain to U1 in the corner I think) and he joined again, and he tore me up, every jump he air-threw me it was pretty frustrating, it was sick how he adapted though.

It was good to see Combofiend beat Lamerboi. Commentators make me laugh in streams, they haven’t got a clue about guy half the time.

Edit: Just watched the replay I was talking about, the french Guile player was called GreldonIRA 4.5k pp 15k bp and it finished with baiting a flash kick then FF chain to U1. But I pretty sure I’ve played the guile player your talking about, he’s french too right? Anyways yeah, he has destroyed me a few times.

There’s a good reason why high ranking Ryus think they can crowd Guy; because it’s true. I swear that match is starting to seem like 8 - 2 now that Ryu players are FINALLY realizing how to get around Guy’s approaches.

I definitely feel you pain, after getting away with so much shit and baiting Ryu’s into stupid things for months, as soon as I come across a Ryu who doesn’t fall for the usual tricks and knows the Guy match up solidly I feel screwed. Its definitely one of those Auto-Pilot things, especially when playing Ranked, bouncing from different skill level Ryu’s messes with my game. I start doing things I shouldn’t be doing but can because I know the player doesn’t know how to react. And when the player does know how to react I get blown up.

Its all starts with the cr.mk, also Guys overhead is one of the worst in game IMO, guess cause he has the neckbreaker, Ryu can keep guy out pretty hard i guess.
