This match was epic i’ve wanted to see these two go head to head for a long time, bear in mind that gamerbee knows the guy matchup quite well as he has had a lot of practice with RB
Jug’s guy is pretty damn good, imo. His Guy and Gouken totally owned me so many times–I am definitely a fan of his playing now. He was rushing really well with Guy even when Super just came out
Good god does watching kiryu play guy is basically how i hoped he would wind up when i first played him in super. He’s really got a great gameplan with him.
As for jug i do think that one of guys worst matchups has got to be rose. She just shuts down so much of his game, and i felt it was odd that when jug did get knockdowns he usually skipped on mixup for pressure, which seems like a poor choice in that matchup.
^^ first of all, i dont know wtf he was doing but that game was his at the end…he completely threw it away… maybe he was just taking some notes from FChamp xD
anyways, IMO i dont think you should bushin flip so much against Cammy, her anti airs are too godlike. she has cl.st.hk, CSpike, cl.st.mp, and cr.hp. it seemed like you also didnt care that she had ultra stocked plus 2 meter…thats a free DP fadc ultra for her if you keep jumping in like that. You were able to get away with it because this guy wasnt throwing Cspikes as anti air, but its just something to note. on every wakeup you should do a quick scan of meter and ultra bar.
other than that, it looked like you needed to tighten up your execution a little bit (not a big issue with Guy, but still). only other thing i could mention is that if youre trying to build meter, i dont suggest doing it with Hozanto, particularly against cammy. yeah it builds a lot of meter, but its unsafe, and cammy has a hella fast super / ultra, not to mention EX SA and EX Hooligan. if she did any of those she wouldve caught you and wouldve been able to start her mixups. whenever i want to build meter, i just do nj.izuna. It builds less, but its much safer. also, luckily, she wasnt mixing it up very much. didnt see many tick throws at all or CStrike pressure. nothing to try and blow up your crouch techs. After playing Steinmania’s Cammy, ive learned that you have to be extremely patient when cammy is in her mixup. also, make sure to crouch tech with cr.mp input as well ! it helps blow up divekick pressure.
Thanks for the input K1. I also, felt after watching it again, that I had missed opportunities to land a free Ultra 2 off of a blocked Spiral Arrow. As far as the Horzanto and Bushin Flips go. From where I was positioned there was really noway Cammy could of punished me for whiffed Horzanto. My intentions weren’t really to build meter anyway. They were to bait out a move and to test his reaction time. Which either he was lacking or had to do with our connection which wasn’t the best I’ve experienced. I also noticed that Coos wouldn’t CS at all, so I took full advantage of his neglect. If he would of punished me more for Bushin Flips I’d definitely would of toned it down. Anyways, thanks for the advice and I’ll be sure to start crouch teching with mp as you said.
Anytime, good gameplay. Im also loving how you arent turned off by the things i pointed out. A lot of players take offense to criticism. Its great to see that youre willing to take note
RB absolutely WRECKS the first dude he plays… nyanshi’s sagat. he plays a cody after that… then a guy mirror… the first round of the guy mirror he does a really nice CH setup with cr. jab, walk up SLIGHTLY, cr. strong > st. strong xx EX shoulder.
I’m still really surprised how RB gets by with using TC in his combos. That thing whiffs like a bitch when everyone else plays guy but he seems to be getting them from far ranges and he never uses far st.strong>run stop either.Whatever though, arcade version will fix everything.Man is it gonna feel good to get TC consistently in combos, its gonna be much easier to get run slide for untechable knockdown because the st.strong into slide link is alot tighter than the former.
Hey cheech, are you the same guy that was at a Winnerstayson at Troc this past Wed? I don’t know who you are but saw your name on the tournament list and thought I remembered the name from these boards. Sorry if you’re not him.
bison’s a pretty braindead character in general. i mained him in vanilla and i never had to work for my wins. it was just… scissor kick pressure… and throw out st. rh and st. forward all day.
Got some new vids of my Guy up on my Youtube Channel here. Take a look and tell me what you think and maybe it can help with some of the bad matchups that you may have.
