Excellent play, in this matchup I think U2 would be MUCH better, especially to punish those blocked green hands, it’s free if gief can’t FADC out of it.

To be honest the Gief matchup is just one long footsies and spacing game,you need to have a good knowledge of Guys situational anti airs aswell.You have to be very weary of where you and gief are on the screen at all times.I liked how Alioune reset the spacing with fierce Bushin flip after a knockdown.The match is a pretty brutal slugfest because you’re denied your run stop pressure and your ambiguous cross up setups(lariat beats it every time or trades for an EX green hand juggle),so it becomes a game of single hits.
I found it interesting how in the last video,Alioune used the Zangief only ground cross up glitch.I don’t think I would ever put myself in the corner as Guy vs Gief.

so this is soooort of off topic, but… this is a sfa2 vid of B-IzM’s guy… it’s a little heartbreaking at how good guy used to be. i miss abusing bushin flip elbow. the pressure guy could generate just because of his walkspeed is nuts. sigh
but i still feel we could learn a couple things from watching alpha guy vids as little as it may be.

I aint had a lot of Alpha experience but that looks like what Guy should be like in this game. Super Guy seems like a shell of what Alpha Guy was. Same moves but cruddy properties:bluu:
sadly, we’re not going to get much (if anything) from that video. B-IzM was always one of the best A2 guy players on GGPO.

1st time i saw Kiryu has been raped badly. the more i look at those matchs the more i realize how much fixes Guy needs.
You’re talking about the Staygold Ryu matches right? I couldn’t agree more.
I don’t think he was being very adaptive either. I do agree Guy could use a patch here or there but, over the series he was just allowing things to happen that ultimately got him beat up. Like all over the video, the ryu would jump and he wouldn’t even bother to aa of any type. He wouldn’t try to hi/low run mix up at all to get some offense started. He would have a block string set up to kill a throw break but, he didn’t throw enough for that tactic to be effective. Around game 7 loss, he got into a more offensive flow and it seemed to be working much better. To me, it felt like he was just stumped on how to approach ryu.

i definitely agree on that set of kiryu matches. he was letting that dude’s ryu jump in way too much. and every time i’d see the jump in i’d look at his meter and he’d have at least 2 ex stocks. i would’ve liked to see more use of run overhead… just to have another option… and to let that ryu know that that move is there. that ryu definitely adapted during that 7 win streak and was reacting really well to what kiryu was doing. like you said… kiryu didn’t adapt well enough and was just letting stuff happen.
Speaking of B-Izm… does he play SSF4? I saw a lobby open last night with that name on PSN. I tried to join but it failed and I could not find the room again.
