like your Guy play. You seem very patient and your spacing is very good. I’m curious as to why (and I see it in most of these vids) peeps don’t mix in his overhead much. Like cr jab x 2, cr.lk block string into overhead (forward mp). I have done this quite a few times in my last ranbat when I used Guy (got 2nd place but lost against a solid guile player), where I mix in the over head with that same block string. The spacing is perfect for the overhead to connect, and there is no risk of punishment when it does connect. You can mix it up with st.mp into run-stop, st.mp into lp hazanto, or even cr jab x 2 into c.lk into roundhouse run overhead (against some characters it hits). It’s not the fastest overhead but if you train them to block low in your run-stop or bushin flip elbow mixups it catches them off guard sometimes. And of course you can kara cancel the overhead into somethin else to make it even more confusing.
Anyone see a reason not to use his overhead?

He plays great… doesn’t over commit too often , stays in front , and uses baits well.
There is no reason to not use it… some don’t use it purely out of personal preference for other mind-games/mixups etc.
I find the overhead too slow to use effectively.Too risky for me.
But,like mekkanic said,you could work it into your game nicely if you have conditioned your opponent to be thinking about other stuff.
His overhead is definitely a tool you want to use when the machup have become a turtles match. You become too predictable, say, usually Guy, does a jump, elbow, couple cr.lp, cr.mk. repeat. Instead, do the elbow and then the overhead.
Don´t be predictable or you will be whipped. Especially with Guy.
his overhead is actually one of the fastest in the game (only 15 frames startup) and has nice range

For the ex flip at the end, will that catch crouching?
Guile is not the dummy here , since the button inputs are from guiles side. He is crouching on the other wakeups , and using quick-stand on the ex izuna , but whether or not the button is held down I cant tell.
It LOOKS like its a few frames too slow to catch a croucher , like 2 frames too slow , but I very well might be wrong here. Its a nice little setup in any case . ( Also Im assuming Alioune knows his stuff and did the EX Izuna there because it will grab crouchers , but better wait for his word on it. )
It’s like the hooligan throw shenanigans where you catch someone who is holding down back while waking up, since there’s is like 1 frame in there where they are considered standing.

You are right , and I do think its 1 frame as well . I doesnt LOOK like its tight in the video , but I think it might be. Frankly , im not sure on the timing off of a quick-stand. I only know the timing on untechable knockdowns ( which is far less useful for various reasons ).
Edit : Also , I think Ex Izuna\grab has more than 1 active frame. Feels like 2-3 somewhere.

after landing a regular bushin flip throw, if u do an ex bushin flip as soon as guy stops moving you can grab that 1-frame window on most characters. I’ll post a vid when I get home
Actually i totally spaced and for some reason thought that was an HK hurricane not a MK. Since it’s an MK you can definitely throw an EX izuna after and catch crouching. I did a fairly decent list in the rushdown thread on what can and can’t be followed up by EX bushin to catch crouchers.
I don’t know if it’s true, but I was playing around with some horrible dudley on ranked matches and I decided to try to do a forward dash into lp bushin flip throw after throwing him.
It worked like 2 or 3 times in a row before I fucked it up and ate that bullshit 2 uppercuts into super.
Maybe that works too?
It was the forward throw > forward dash > lp bushin flip grab > forward dash > lp bushin grab > etc.
Even if it doesn’t, it’s always funny to see people handle the situation for the 1st time. >:D
