The goal was to affect the outcome of the election through intimidation or harm/death to our highest public officials. Yes, thereās a huge difference that cannot be assessed through numbers and loss of life alone.

Also, I just want to point out that being unarmed is irrelevant (despite some protestors being armed) because a mob that size didnāt need to be armed to kill a police officer. Officers were so overwhelmed that they just let people, more or less, walk into the capitol building because they didnāt want to die. If the mob was coordinated enough and angry enough, they could have easily broken into the House chambers before the members were evacuated. It wasnāt impossible for the mob to stop after that one woman was shot and killed. The mob could have very well just pushed through and overwhelmed Capitol police and possibly got to Representatives in time. I still fail to see why anyone would think the Capitol riot was just another riot and couldnāt be much, much worse.

Yeah, that was unexpected; but this is why we need a diversity of viewpoints and experiences in elected office. Not the typical horse and pony show we generally see.
Anybody arguing for more government surveillance and authority could always move to China or Vietnam. Iāve seen some hard left pro communism Youtube folks who have done just that, and I have nothing but respect for someone that is willing to walk the walk.
Thinking anything now is bad just demonstrates a severe lack of imagination.
