Let’s not weep for the loss of Pillow Guy’s insight and public discourse. Last nearly relevant thing the guy did was get spotted walking out of Trump’s office waving around a typed proposal for imposing martial law.
The way I sees it is the majority of Twitter users are liberals. Twitter admitted as much in it annual share holders meeting. When a leftist says stupid shit and threatens people, the lefties on twitter don’t care much because they don’t like the people that they’re threatening.
Now when a conservative voice says something that targets leftist ideals, the majority of twitter responds negatively, so they give them the boot.
It’s all about money. They’re doing what’s in their best interest monetarily.
Is it ethical? Not really. It’s it morally just? Nope, because if anything, social media has shown that a lot of people are fine with violence if it’s against someone they don’t like. but when is a free market or capitalism really that concerned about ethics and morals?
Twitter will keep banning conservatives and right-wingers until it hurts their bottom line or uncle sam does something about it.
When we have regulatory bodies that aren’t enabling them?
It feels as if that’s the issue we’re seeing. It’s also facilitated by most of the politicians and judges being older than dirt, and not comprehending why tech monopolies are a bad thing.
See also, that time we failed to penalize Microsoft; but the British courts didn’t.
Sadly politicians don’t want to stop that sweet, sweet money rolling in.
Oh wait, all-powerful tech companies are now fucking over my political side thanks to the dominance they acquired during years of unregulated predatory capitalism. I guess that now regulating the free market is for the sake of free speech!
But it is when u claim some religious crap to discriminate against a gay couple from making their wedding cake. The hypocrisy is when everyone celebrated a business getting to decide who can patronize and then the precedent backfires when used against them.
Why isn’t “big conservative” funding their own webhosting back end companies and social media companies ? Ya know yay capitalism
Dan Carlin posed the thought exercise of what would happen if someone passed a law that someone you dislike inherited. We’re deep into those weeds now.
It’s not about what I like, it’s about doing what’s right. I was against the Patriot Act from the jump, and was very disappointed that the “Hope & Change” candidate re-upped it. That may have been the nail in the coffin for me.
The citizenry have been duped by their masters and their owners.
Hopefully what Chris Hedges and Matt Taibbi have been warning us about doesn’t come to pass, because I’ve floated the idea of it past the suburbanites I work with and watch their skin crawl. If it causes them some discomfort, I’m fine with it.
This is a cute gesture and all but we want to end qualified immunity. Ya know, things that will create actual change. But he’s allegedly stated he won’t so I doubt it’ll ever happen
Think of it as a compromise: they want to piss off the racists without really doing anything to improve the life of black people, so everyone is equally unhappy!
That’s fine, but again, they should be honest about it. They used to market twitter as a place to exchange ideas freely, but that hasn’t been part of their motto in awhile now.
Well for one, those folks who wanted the cake apparently went around to a bunch bakeries trying to find one that wouldn’t bake a cake for them. Second, the bakery was stupid for not coming up with an excuse that would have absolved them legally. I’m not familiar with what the ruling was but I’d imagine it was something similar to what it would be if you went into a muslim eatery and got mad that they wouldn’t cook you pork chops.
There isnt as much money in conservative political donation. Leftist organizations get big dollar donations and there are actually middleman companies that will donate to organizations on your behalf, and have actually been used to launder money. Problem is, everyone said “If you don’t like the rules here, go make your own site” and they did, and now people have been trying to get THAT shut down.
