I don’t think anyone’s denying that it was “typical politics,” but stuff like that is why people generally have less than favorable opinions of politics. Candidates no one was really all that excited about, who were, considering all that’s happened this year, pretty tone deaf choices, being pushed by a party whose name refers to a system where everyone is supposed to have a voice when their primary process is anything but.
Both of my checks arrived by mail, despite my taxes being filed on time to qualify for the first as direct deposit. My first check arrived quite late last year. Thank goodness I found work after being laid off in March or I’d be hosed.
This is the government, it’s no surprise things are getting bungled.
Add to that the ongoing postal delays as a result of USPS short staffing. I’m receiving stuff shipped via USPS at least a month late currently.
Everything is a bit screwed up as a result of the pandemic, but you’ll probably receive your check in time. If they’re concerned about viral spread indoors, they need to implement mail sorting outdoors until this pandemic passes. Even at reduced capacity, rotate staff from external triage, to internal sort. Keep parcels and people flowing so they’re not indoors where poor ventilation contributes to viral spread.
I wanted to see the same thing for the election. It’s winter here, and not pleasant outside; but it’s a 100 year pandemic - so I’d feel safer under a canopy outdoor with fresh air flowing. Although that may be unique to Ohio, where they required selecting a partisan ballot for mail in votes and as an non-partisan voter I wasn’t willing to take that step.
There’s so much we could be doing in terms of communication and execution that we continue to fail at.
