I don’t think jae really wishes for these things to happen, but I think he probably FEELS that way. As someone who was kind of manipulated by an older female cousin when I was 15, that shit STILL sticks with me. Yes yes yes I know - she was a girl, I’m a guy, what guy wouldn’t enjoy that situation - but real talk, that shit …upset me. To say the least. If I could go back, it wouldn’t have happened. The fact that this coverup even happened and people are pissed off over some coaches’ legacy moreso than the fact that children were RAPED speaks volumes about what’s wrong in this society. Where are our values at?
Paterno made a dumb decision period which is a given. I don’t think the man deserves to be crucified though. The fact that his legacy is fucked is enough. McQuery really should be the one that needs to be crucified and get the brunt of the blame. Its not enough that you don’t call the cops but you sit on the information for a day AND tell you dad about it to boot…yeah fuck him big time.
What more needs to be said about Sandusky? He’s an obvious criminal pedophile who is out on bail before he gets put away for a long time. Joe Paterno is a father figure who is part of a huge breach of moral trust. No one is acting like Joe Paterno was a pedophile, he’s just a pedophile enabler who put football normality over the possible abuse of children. It’s despicable, he deserves all the flack he is getting. No amount of charity work or football wins can make this not as big of a deal, in fact it makes worse. I’m not invested in this stuff in any way, but it’s obvious this is what happened.
People who say the focus should be on Sandusky are just uncomfortable seeing this loved legend get shit on. I can’t blame them for feeling this way but it’s completely misplaced. I had always heard that College Football was big in some parts of the US but this issue has made it clear I had no idea. In some people’s arguments apparently a legacy of football genius implies you are a great person.
No, I’m saying the focus should be more on Sandusky because all of this attention just on Paterno is giving people the wrong impression. Like I said in my post, I know people who haven’t read into the full story that thought Paterno was the child rapist because the media keeps crucifying him WAY more than they’re crucifying Sandusky (who was not exactly a nobody himself: he was almost as beloved at Paterno in Pennsylvania.
It’s a horrible situation, but at least get the story right, media. The way it’s been going about lately, by the time all of this is over the popular story will be “Joe Paterno was a child rapist” to the general public.

Alright, fair enough, but I’m saying I haven’t really seen any media reports that imply anything like that and so it seems to be just people not understanding. Not exactly the media’s fault if someone chooses to keep themselves ill-informed. Generally, this seems to be something only brought up by people who are very supportive of the man (not saying you are). Paterno fully deserves to be crucified. Just not called a child rapist. It really shouldn’t be a matter of who is getting more flak from the media. Sandusky may have been an important figure, but Joe Paterno is Joe Paterno and it feels like an enormous betrayal. In spirit, it’s exactly what it is.
If there really are reports out there that make Paterno look like he did something he didn’t, then I guess I’m out of line.
I will tell you I have been watching college football since the early 80s, and could not pick Sandusky out of a lineup until last week. I knew who Paterno was and is for almost 30 years, that is why the focus is one him. He is the bigger story, everybody that follows college football knows who Paterno is.
All involved need to lose their jobs, especially if you read the Grand Jury indictment.

i just don’t get how you can stand there…knowing someone in your job is fuckin boys. like why is the human race like that? we see/know something and we do little about it? also why the university try to cover this up? if they went public with it their school reputation wouldn’t had been hurt as it is now. everyone in this situation needs to be punished and taken care of. its bad enough this already affecting the victims involved in this now its getting blown up by the media.
