bought my 6700k. also got a TEC and a temperature controller. i think i’m going to get the PC running for a while before i put the TEC on there to do serious overclocks.

K gonna grab a new keyboard and mouse, do i want clicky keys or silent keys? Cause AFAIK all keys are clicky right?

Some are clickier than others (ie blues) Some are silent (but will make some noise when the keycap hits the keyboard). Some keys also have longer key travel, and stiffer springs. Keyboards are probably one of those things you should go into an actual computer store and try out. They usually have one of those cherry demo units, which is just a row of different switches.

Alright, I have a 1TB hard drive (about half filled) that I’m thinking about upgrading to a SSD. Are they worth it and have the longevity issues been fixed?

I have some free money to burn and I’m looking at the 1 TB 850 EVO.

Depending on how patient you are, there is a rumored 4tb ssd from mushkin coming out that is supposed to be $500 usd. They’ll probably have a 2tb version for cheaper.
I’ve got a couple of 500 gb evo’s and they have served me well.

Pretty nice bundle. Its got pain killer black, rise of the triad, planetary annihilation, dive kick and a couple for for like, a couple bucks.

he starts getting a bit dizzy playing DCS but the developers have updated that they are using asynchronous timewarp for the commercial release update of the rift. timewarp makes even sub 60fps have nearly no stutter; I’ve even seen some games sub 20fps not have stutter with time warp so its quite a huge addition

here’s a detailed explanation of time warp by Heaney555

Timewarp is a feature of the Oculus drivers (runtime) that has existed since DK1.
Basically, after your GPU has finished rendering a frame, but just before the frame is actually pushed to the headset, the frame is reprojected (warped) in the direction you’ve moved your head, based on the tracking data at this time (just before you push to the display).
What’s the result here? It reduces latency. It gets your latency down to ridiculously low levels, and is why the Rift has about half the latency of the HTC Vive, for example.
With asynchronous timewarp (a possible feature of the consumer Rift’s drivers/runtime), this process is decoupled from rendering. So if a frame fails to render in time (ie, you drop a frame), then async timewarp can take the previous frame, and warp it to the correct position that the sensor is now reporting. It can do this constantly, so even if you dropped 5 frames in a given second, each time it would be compensated based on reprojecting the previous frame. Of course, this only works for dropping a few frames here and there. If you were only getting 20 real FPS and 70 were timewarped, there would be noticeable distortion in the headset from the fact that the majority of frames are reprojected.
What’s the result here? Basically, whereas previously in VR dropping a frame induced noticeable and jarring judder, with async timewarp you won’t even notice dropping a frame here or there, and even if you drop down to maybe 70 FPS or something, your image will still appear smooth, if maybe a bit distorted in fast moving scenes. Much better than the horrible judder of the past.
Asynchronous timewarp is often nicknamed “frame drop insurance”, and it’s a great descriptive nickname.

Saw Supreme Commander for $3.74 MSRP $15

with 30 min left from Kromo’s bundle store link, other games for sale.

Didn’t buy it to play super battle space opera because my computer isn’t yours.

They processed a partial refund for not building it by Christmas though. * VIPER MONEY $$$tupid cash. Paypal. Got it fast.

• Well after it shipped and I have it. All kinds of emails about being sorry this happened, without any complaint filed from me. I could go over what I spent to upgrade it though, off the super deal for @angelpalm or jack frost there, who might want to order and wait for it [ uh built in Mexico ] if they don’t have time to build their own.

Pros: Good case, super fast boot up /might be because I chose a hybrid drive.
Cons: Weird motherboard, you are really going to have to pay attention to a graphics card size
