Crossing my fingers in hope that Vulkan will not go the way of OpenGL. Not that OpenGL was bad. It just had no adoption outside of fixed platforms. It’s going to be interesting to see how well Win 10 does, and then gaming once there’s some real competition coming out of Linux.
“optimization” has nothing to do with direct x. It’s strange, being involved with game development and this is the first I’ve heard of directx 12 “improving” gaming. Mmmmmmmm, that’s not how the software works.
You also have to take into the factor that it’s a software developed for PC only titles. Chances are, no games will utilized anything with it unless it’s PC only.
I’m waiting for the new Pillars of Eternity expansion to come out (which is soon, apparently) since it’s adding more abilities and shit… and fixing MORE BUGS, GODDAMNITT!! They are adding better AI, cause the current party AI is shit. “Auto-Attack” my ass!! Playing an archer is suffering.
But yeah, I’m flat out buying it for the sake of fixing bugs. DLC bug fixes, please pay.
Also, Withcer 3 got a huge update 1.07.
It’s amazing… unless you own it on console then you’re fucked. But of PC users, it’s amazing. They fixed up a lot of gameplay/balance issues, as well as optimizing towns for the better. Great stuff.
I love how I built a crazy expensive computer to play fucking Hearthstone. I can’t finish games anymore. I keep playing never end games, instead. Marvel Heroes, Hearthstone, Cities Skylines, fighting games…fuck me, I got old way too fast.
In going the other way. I Uninstalled all my multi player games (other than hearthstone). Focusing on SP stuff for story. I did this as I hit 30, I think I’m over the online scene.
There are too many games I love to play multiplayer though. I grew up on arcades, online is a quasi arcade experience. I play with other people, but they’re not there to rob me, but sometimes they’re obnoxious dickheads I want to arrange motherly gangrape on. I have really not played much FPS single player campaigns. Did a little Halo and CoD, but for the most, I don’t play many of them. A few exceptions (like old school shit you were forced to, such as Turok or somewhat newer shit like Prey). I never played any of the FEAR games, and oddly enough I own them all on Steam (FUCK YOU BACKLOG!)…I just prefer the mindgames of outsmarting another player.
I still legit remember playing my best friend with modified .wad files in Doom 1&2 (fuck, the first time I modified the plasma cannon to shoot flaming skulls, they swarmed me and obliterated me…taught me a lesson!)…having to send a fucking 20mb file over 2400 baud modems, yelling at my sister to not touch the phone or I would rape her friends and break her hands, not in that order. The good ol’ days. That feeling you get of actually facing a human opponent, of trying to outsmart somebody else to survive, and win, and succeed. You can’t beat that fucking feeling.
I seem to play a lot more slowed down games, though, like Hearthstone. When I play Diablo style games, I enjoy just doing solo, but I also find that getting a group together for a lot of the higher level stuff in games is just too frustrating and time consuming. Spending 20 minutes or worse assembling an hour long raid, versus playing Killer Instinct and fucking with a dozen characters, and improving my skills…that’s a hard trade, lol.
And my ADHD makes me wanna just collect every mother fucking thing in single player exclusive games. Hell, I’ve played a ton of RPG games, where I’ve played for hours or days, then been FUCK THIS SHIT and just restarted a new character on a whim. I still haven’t beaten Skyrim, which I pre-ordered. Took me 4 years to beat Oblivion. Got to the end of Morrowind, and my game glitched after not saving for 8 hours, and just never played it again, and I wrote a fucking FAQ for that got damn game.
Gaming got so weird lately. While a part of me enjoys some aspects of the monetization of some of the DLC, a lot of me hates how too many games are purely and obviously designed to get money from you, rather than give you a full complete gaming experience.
Like how the fuck do we have all this DLC, and we don’t have a single game saying “FUCK IT” and just adding tons of good dlc and patches, just for free, because they made like $400 million in sales on it?
I mostly play Dawn of War games (The Last Stand in particular) regularly…and some Single Player games.
I actually want to put a dent on my Steam Backlog by the end of 2016.
I may actually play SF5 online from release…instead of waiting for a discount.
Why not just become a bird and fly like a cat?
I feel like with age, I’ve gotten more time to play games. However, my summer is almost over here. Once fall hits, I’ll be lucky to find any time since my studies take up the entire day.
Post college was a great time for gaming. Especially once I moved away from home for my first job and found a local weekly sf4/mvc3 spot for tournaments. No outside responsibility, just work, work out and eat.
Then marriage… And kids… Good stuff but changes everything.
