well, after 3 years Iāve replaced every single component in my computer. Learned a lot, and it is kind of fun building a computer. Although the troubleshooting can suck big monkey nuts. Today I replaced the CPU and motherboard. Had a hell of a time trying to mount the coolerā¦then realizing it did not fit that socket for some mysterious reason. Then just gave up and used the stock cooler.
Now to enjoy the moderate, but expensive improvements
i7 4790k CPU
Evga ftw mobo.
Evga 780 Ti Classified GPU
16gb of 1600 DDR3 G-Skill memory
750w Seasonic Modular PSU
256 gb EVO 850 SSD, (OS plus essentials)
2 tb black Western Digital HD (games)
2 tb blue Western Digital HD (Videos, music and other games)
Asus Blu ray/DVD drive.
CoolerMaster CM690 2 case.
Might look into getting one of those all in one liquid coolersā¦Maybe get a second card and put it in sli? Probably just wait for 980 tiās though.
For some reason Valkyria Chronicles is on 50% discount on Steam.
Really tempting, but the sensible me says to wait for a 66%, especially considering that my current backlog might prevent me from playing the game in the next months anyways.
Gets extra points from me for featuring Vyse and Aika from the Skies of Arcadia game as recruitable members personal childhood favorite rpg
If you got a itch for a xcom-esque strategy game with waifus thatās somewhat flawed but fun⦠itāll be worth a buy AND could possibly reach the top of your backlog for games that you should play somewhat soon. Also itās very well optimized from what iāve seen. Durante aka savior of the Dark souls 1 PC port gave this gameās port some praise. Not really a difficult game to run from what iāve seen as well.
The only big issue I heard with the port is that the framerate is higher than the original which sounds fine, but shots are based on animation speed. As such, going past enemiesā shots is much, much harder than it was in the original.
Note that I havenāt played, just something to watch out for from people that have played it.
Well getting past interception fire can be remedied in game regardless, if anything iād see that as a welcomed change because of certain reasons that i rather not spoil for those that donāt want to break the game lol exceptions being certain bosses, good god.
Seems like that framerate issue though was similar to the soul series when it comes to unintended higher frame rate interactions. Game looks pretty fucking great in 60 fps though.
Weird help needed. So I have windows 8.1 pro. Iām currently running dual monitor and my main one is on the right. My problem is sometimes when I go from my secondary monitor on the left to the main one of the right, my cursor will get snagged in the right side charm bar on the left screen. Is there a way to disable the charm bar for secondary menus?
ordered the HP Stream 7 tablet that runs full Windows 8.1 and not WinRT.
1st thing Iām gonna do is install steam on it and see if it can run 1gb of ram games on it. well, I already know it can but just how well is the question.
after going to college for all them years, I didnāt need a windows cd-key for years. Gonna be weird that the next time I get windows, it will be free still, without me being in school. I havenāt ever paid for Windows. MAYBE had to pay for Windows 3.1, but that was because it was bundled with a PC I had bought back then.
Youāre able to set the FPS lock to 30fps if thatās an issue. I never did because I didnāt play the original and just thought it was always that way lol. Itās getting a bit harder now, I might change it back to 30FPS. Dark Souls 1 had a similar problem at launch where your weapons would degrade much faster with higher frame rates.
Oculus Rift/ VR and all that jazz is something I cant see me getting into until the next wave of nvidia cards are all out and am arguing with RIck over the merits of the next generations version of the 750gtx ti.
The hardware requirements will be such a pain in the ass.
