The PC gaming Thread. Steam/GOG/Origin/Etc. Game/Software/Hardware talk

Heh, some speculation going on as all upcoming Ubisoft games have seemingly disappeared from Steam. Still awaiting an official explanation.

I like their Ubi Art engine, but otherwise…

EDIT: Official confirmation from Ubi that their new titles won’t be available on Steam in the UK, but will still be available through others like GMG. Remains to be seen if this will also be the case for US. Wouldn’t really matter as even Steam versions still run Uplay; only thing I could see affected are the frequency & prices of sales.

It was decent. I’m playing a friend’s copy, but I’m playing through it for the first time on Uber, and it’s honestly not THAT hard. Some trial and error involved later in the game, but nothing serious.

Any more news on Valkyria Chronicles? It feels like Sega just went, “oh yeah, we’re releasing this in a week” and left it at that. Good marketing there Sega.

I was one of the original beta testers for it months before it launched, I played it a lot and was one of the top players because fighting game fundamentals translate so fucking well onto it, I stopped playing it a little bit before launch because well I didn’t want to pay for it lol so it went F2P hmm not surprising, I’ve never played WOW, DOTA, or LOL so I don’t know the comparisons, but I remember the main hook of the game being 100% skill based no random stuff or grinding just all pure dexterity you have to manually aim ranged shots that sort of stuff no dice rolls or anything that automatic or passive, awesome game.

looks at release date holy shit it came out 3 years ago? lol, I wonder what the community was like after it launched it was very popular in beta as I recall.

Big surprise, JP developers still don’t have the hang of this whole Steam business, it seems.

I really REALLY miss the characters from that game. Especially the original 16. They were so god damned well designed and with a fair amount of unique characters. Sad to say that i may never find another character exactly like Seeker not original 16 but he was so damn versatile , inhibitor, nomad, spearmaster, etc…

WoW Wotlk arena or Arena tournament is probably the closest thing to BLC right now since it has emphasis on 3v3 and alot of the characters from BLC have very similar mechanics

*Nomad’s Tornado call being used similarly to Druid’s cyclone to remove a target from play, Spearmaster’s Whirlwind ult being Warrior’s blade storm, Ranid’s playstyle in it’s entirety based around the Rogue’s playstyle.

No trance BLC’s parry mechanic though in WoW. I really miss using someone’s “aegis reflector” to reflect my own projectile back at me and then use spearmaster trance on it to instantly teleport to the opposing healer.

Anyways as far as the community after launch. It was pretty sizeable for a niche game. 2000-3000~ or so on average with a really competitive ladder. It went to dreamhack twice and all that.

Battlefield 4 is free to play for a week, just in case anyone here is interested:

Well, how hype do you expect people to get over a 6 year old strategy game?
Its got anime characters!

Little Big Adventure is free today on GoG. Get it yo.

Uh there were details about the release like a week ago.

It comes out on the 11th with ALL DLC included for $20 (or preorder for $18). You can preorder it from GMG for $14 dollars right now but the deal ends pretty soon.

EDIT: Metro 2033 is FREE today from the Humble Store

The preload for Valkyria is live on Steam (16.5 GB), and I just got my preorder key from GMG.

Fuck, I might have to clear outta my place on launch day for house painters. Wonder if I can run this game on my portable toaster. First order of business will be to keep restarting until I randomly get Vyse as a recruit.

I’m gonna assume that at this point Star Wars Battlefront 3 will get released the same month the Star Wars episode VIII movie does.

I’ll just sit in this corner, twiddle my thumbs, and whistle while I wait for what’s been long overdue.

I can imagine this game becoming one of the first VR Arcade games

seems like a mix between power stone and team fortress 2

Hey guys,

Nvidia just sent me the prototype to the GTX 990. Here’s a sneak peak:

so beast

So is Blizzard’s Overwatch…like their version of TF2?

More like TF2 with a character list worthy of DOTA. The one trailer showed like 8 or 9 different characters, including a motherfucking Transformer. I think it’s supposed to be class based, which is why I saw 2 engineer-like characters and a couple of heavy characters. It’s taking what TF2 did and expanding it a bit.

Definitely gonna give overwatch some play. It looks like a lot of fun

Really liking how diverse the cast is, a few hangups but for the most part I’m loving the cast. A ton of personality is just oozing from all of them even when they just stand there. Hopefully Blizz hooks Overwatch up with some comics & stuff.

The one map looks like Stratholme, which I’m a fan of. It looks like something that could pull me into the genre, but I’m just a little disappointed the first new IP from Blizzard in 17 years is a FPS.

I was looking at benchmarks for my processor and it’s way better than I thought it was. It can sit at a permanent 60+ FPS @ 1080p and full settings in Battlefield 4 and other games with the right GPU. The weak 6 out of 8 cores(two reserved for their OS’s) in the PS4/Xbone have such low clock speeds that my ancient quad-core is actually…faster overall.

Pretty awesome. This means I can just upgrade my GPU and then I’d be good until DDR4/all these new parts become the norm. The rest of my PC is still beast years later but my GPU is slowly starting to show its age in some of these games.
