Not as many as I’d like to see. Earlier I was looking at their list of Free For All servers and there’s 0 under the classic ruleset. Then again, I can’t see any Premium servers that might exist because I don’t have a premium account. Not that I care to give them money just so they can keep making stupid changes instead of actually fixing real issues with this game. Numerous bugs reported and numerous requests made by players, and they spent the time before the last update adding medals and changing the voice over. Brilliant.
I played a match in a few gametypes under the new rules, and they were all reduced to being mostly clusterfucks of rocket spam. Despite having visible item timers I was still timing the Quad in an FFA match better than everyone else, because I’m pretty sure I was the only one bothering to pay attention to the timer. I took it a few times uncontested and managed to win the match. The TDM match was mostly spawn with rocket launcher, go to quad spot, spam the shit out of it until the Quad spawns, then spam some more as you fight for it. Shite. Domination, which was already a shitty rip-off of an already shitty UT gametype, limits your weapons to the two you select as your loadout. So guess what everyone in the match and their mothers chose to spawn with? Yep, rocket and grenade launchers. God dammit.
Maybe it’ll get better with time, but at this point I’m almost hoping that other free FPS games like Xonotic and Warsow, or even the upcoming UT will put Quake Live out of its misery, and we can all go back to Q3A and CPMA and forget the last few years happened.

Leave bootleg Win installations alone. Also, M$ knows if you’re using a hacked OEM licence. They know. And they can and will shut it down after 90 days. This ain’t the Win Millenium era where your PC was still an isolated island. It checks back home to Mother Gates all the fucking time.
Your best option is to purchase one of those budget PCs and get the licence from it. Then wipe the bastard and use Linux on it. You will have two systems, and a copy of Win7 for your primary system. These days the entire system can be had for about the same cost as a licence.
Windows is still a product, as lame and as stupid as it may be, so if you want to get a copy of it then pay for it. Trying to go through shady means can result in getting owned. Maybe you will, maybe you won’t but guess what? There’s no way to 100% be certain that you’re not being owned. Maybe if you analyze all your network traffic. Maybe. But I’m guessing that 99.9% of us don’t do that.
Just fucking buy it. This isn’t like stealing cable TV or copying a movie where the worst thing that happens is a van shows up and ruins the last episode of Walking Dead when they cut your cord midshow, or you find yourself wanting the last 2 hours of your life back after watching the latest Transformers movie. Even if you personally don’t see the effects of it, you could be unwittingly contributing to cyber crime, which is very real and has some very horrible effects on the lives of its victims.
Don’t be part of the problem. Don’t become a clueless botnet node. Don’t become a distribution relay, or a stealth TOR end-node without your consent. Be smart and purchase a damn licence. Shit, you can probably ask people for their old ones when they inevitably upgrade their PCs every couple of years.
Thanks manx. That was actually why I want to buy it. I don’t want to unintentionally install any back doors or Trojans or become a zombie or whatever. It’s why I stay away from things like keygens.
The cheapest I have seen is around 80 I believe but I like the idea of buying a cheap system and wiping it so I will look to that route as well.

If you look on reddit, there’s a subreddit called /r/softwareswap or something where a dude sells legit windows keys for mad cheap.
You know what I might have an extra legit key from school. My advisor gave me a bunch when I first got my system. I’ll post back when I get home if I can find it
