The PC gaming Thread. Steam/GOG/Origin/Etc. Game/Software/Hardware talk

No one should ever buy a gaming laptop. Buyers remorse in the worse possible way.

I can’t get over how nice my VR set up is. its not completed yet and I still shake my head at how nice it is, its like a compact cockpit just taking a small space in a room.

I’ll post up pictures in a week or two if I get time to finish it

this got posted up on reddit just now

with technology getting smaller nad more powerful its stuff like this that show we will still be around to see a crazy future

Final Fantasy Reborn is getting an expansion. I wonder if they’ll finally add fun this time around.

After playing an evening session of Payday: The Heist No Mercy map with some randoms and failing continuously…I feel determined to Stealth the first part of the game.

Gotdamn 3 Bulldozers man…

They’re putting Triple Triad in, RIP my life.

Just to be clear. I don’t mean those types of overpriced laptops that are built for gaming (Razer, Alienware etc.). I just mean by an all purpose laptops that are good enough for most games today. I also tend to travel a fair bit if that helps. So yay or nay?

I’ve pretty much made my mind up to buy a r9 290 vapor x

i wanna cop one of those 650 psus…the recommended stats on the GPU site say i should have a 750…does it really make that big of a difference?

Yes. You need an adequate power supply. Don’t skimp. And don’t just buy any old cheap 750-watt and call it a day. A well made 600-watt would be better than a cheap and shitty 750-watt.

nah, i took heed to ure speech last page…I’ve been eying some of the ones you recommended…good look.

If you’re going for the Corsair PSU’s, I’d recommend the rm850. I was supposed to go for the 750 one but since the 850 one is usually around $5, I figured I’d be ready just in case.

What is a 970?

anyone getting civ:beyond earth?

Seems like im not going to get around spending 120-150 bucks for a psu…so it looks like im putting my purchase off for a sec til i can save a lil bit of doe

Its been a couple days now and I still cant win a single game with the difficulty set at Pro level. I thought about lowering the difficulty to rookie but I’d rather lose to the default difficulty than to scrub it out at a lower setting and win.
would feel cheap.

That said, the game mechanics is really deep and the controls + the mechanics feel really complex.
This game is gonna take me while to get good at.

At least I’m not getting blown out like I was before. Now I’m losing by the teens instead of by 30+ points.

I’m finally getting the hang of certain timings like Bird’s 3 pointer and other stuff.
But it is disheartening to constantly lose.
I mean, even Spud Webb dunked on me. Yeah I know he use to be able to dunk in real life too…but still though.
Its lil’ Spud dunking on me.
:-/
No excuse.
none

Just finished Call of Juarez Gunslinger, nice little game. Gameplay was ho-hum but the bright, colorful graphics & underused setting made up for it. Weaving actual historical figures into the tale was a very nice touch, & I enjoyed finding the secret hidden factoids about them. I much prefer when text/audiologs only supplement the story, rather than help lazily tell it or fill in major chunks of backstory.

Spoiler

The twist ending got me. I was expecting Silas to have turned out to be some kind of ghost, like one of the NPCs alluded to. Didn’t think the true final duel would have been against one of the old men at the table.

I put the other COJ titles on my wishlist, though I don’t think any of them generated as much positivity as Gunslinger has. In fact, Cartel is supposedly really awful & has little to do with the Old West.

Cartel is shit. I personally liked the second one best, can’t remember the title. It was about two brothers though, one was a sharpshooter the other a dual wielder.

I have a Sapphire Toxic Radeon 6850 and I can still play any fucking game at max settings.

Definitely worth it. They do weekly updates, adding tons of new shit each week. It’s not as in depth as Minecraft, crafting wise, but is still an amazing game. Very disorienting though, lol. My buddy is showing me the ropes during my free time, so I can hopefully teach you what you need to know, when/if you get it. Which you should get it.

I’d suggest you create a player and give Myplayer mode a crack…it does a good job of doubling as a tutorial for the mechanics of player movement and shot selection and whatnot and really gets you into the game as a beginner running and gunning aint gonna get it done…even on rookie…2k has been pretty simulation in its last couple releases, and its only getting more hardcore, and seeming you dont come from a basketball background, I’d say you need to level up, unless you dont mind being bad…then in that case, good luck constanly knowing what Spud Webb’s sack smells like…lol

I got that over the summer sale, I enjoyed the gameplay a lot actually, especially the arcade missions. You can’t twitch aim everything since it takes a bit for your aim to zero in after you ADS, so you really have to plan your moves out and pick good spots for your bullet time in order to chain a whole run together. I haven’t even come close to some of the top score runs you can find on Youtube. I saw the twist coming about halfway through, but the telling of the story was really well done.

Honestly it’s one of my favorite Steam sale purchases so far, considering I got it for around 3 bucks. I think it released at 15 bucks too? I wouldn’t have regretted that purchase at all except that I’m fucking poor as all shit right now
