I got Watch Dogs free with my video card so I donât really have any problems with it.
I mean, maybe if I paid 60 bucks for it I would be disappointed, but hey, who pays 60 bucks for games?
And if you are disappointed because it didnât live up to the E3 hypeâŚwell you deserve it, nothing lives up to that much hype. Year after year, people fall for the same shit and get giddy over choice cuts of gameplay footage and prerendered movies.
One of the cooler little games I picked up from the steam sale was Infested Planet
It is an RTS game with some tower defense elements. It is kind of like hero missions in a more traditional RTS. You get 5 or so marines and fight your way through massive swarms of aliens and capture resource points. The resource points can be spent to upgrade your marines, build turrets or structures. Base building is very minimal/practically non existent. You donât earn resources over time, but just get a flat amount of points to spend when you capture an area, if you sell a turret or upgrade, you get 100% of the resources back, allowing you to re-allocate it as you see fit. Enemies will basically spawn forever until you can push them back with overwhelming fire power and destroy the little nodes that produce them. The core game play is basically choosing a good angle of attack, making sure your marines donât get surrounded, and protecting your flank/captured nodes. You can also use special abilities like a rocket launcher, or a helicopter strike. There is a simple satisfaction as your marines tear through hundreds, if not thousands of little critters to victory. The basic enemies are slow and have no ranged attacks, as you go through the game, the difficulty ramps up and you will find yourself being assaulted from all sides, with special enemies that can slow/poison your troops, have powerful ranged attacks or even explode. It does get pretty challenging by the last few levels. The main knocks are that the graphics are only justâŚok, it can be difficult to target specific enemies/structures among the swarm, all the levels are virtually the same and there isnât a huge amount of variety in mission types.
All in all, a pretty good time.
Also played through Wolfenstein: TNO
It was alrightâŚI had fun while playing it, but I donât have much of an urge to revisit it. I do like the fake music from the 60s (Mond MondâŚJa Ja) which you can actually buy on an LP http://store.bethsoft.com/brands/wolfenstein/neumond-classics-superhits-of-the-1960s-lp.html
I kind of want itâŚeven though I donât have a record player.
I just found this thread, I used to be a console-only guy back in the day, and just like OP I ended up buying a $1k gaming rig a while ago and⌠use it to play console-ish games, lol
I donât know if itâs been recommended here before but I highly recommend Continent of the Ninth (C9) and Vindictus. Theyâre the two most fluid action games around but theyâre mmoâs. C9 has a crazy amount of moves and combos for an mmo, itâs like bayonetta combos with dynasty warriors mobs. fun stuff. Vindictus is⌠slower⌠but is still miles ahead of your average slapboxing wow-clone. Theyâre both on steam, although Iâd suggest NOT going through steam to get them (bugs bugs bugs) and getting the clients through their main sites.
X-com:EU, bioshock 1,2, inf, spec ops: the line, the darkness 2, x-com declassified, other stuff over at www.humblebundle.com
If you somehow want to play the bioshock series and havenât yet, this is a pretty awesome deal. Iâm sure the 4 people in this situation are grateful.
I am freaking mad that they left it at a cliffhanger. I seriously have no idea if there going to be a season 2 because WAU is based on the protagonists in the comic series while TWD focuses on unique characters in the storyline. I seriously hope there is a season 2.
Thatâs my problem with it, itâs all team fight team fight team fight. I actually love laning and the chill factor. Plus visually the game looks like butt to me.
I can see that, but for me its exactly the opposite. Also, its not all team fight team fight. Really it depends on map, and also on level. Before level 10 you really shouldnt be roaming as a team or youâre fucked on XP. Post 10, it makes more sense.
On a map like haunted mines, if you send all 5 down into the mines to get all the skulls, youâre gonna be screwed when all 5 merc camps (+ golem) come crashing onto your base. You wont be able to push with your golem because youâre too busy defending.
On a map like Dragon shire, you have to control 3 distinct points on the map to get the dragon knight, so again you canât roam with all 5 if you want that objective (The fact that the dragon knight might be a bit under powered not withstanding, it is an alpha).
On a map like Cursed Shrine, yes you do want to roam with all 5 when it comes to the objectives, but one of my favorite things is to set up with Zeratul, who is weak in team fights, and put myself in the path of people coming across the map (top lane to bottom lane takes a bit), and gank them before they get to the team fight. With other heroes like Arthas, I want to be right in the thick of the fight. Also you can ignore the objective and push with mercs while youâre cursed, forcing the other team to play defensive during their own advantage; Iâve seen this work out well.
On Booty Bay, you hardly even see entire team fights because people are spread out gathering coins, maybe when you gather for turnins it really gets team fighty.
Overall the meta is to stay in lane until level 10, close out the game by level 20 (because at level 20 youâre pretty powerful, you can end the game with an uncontested push).
My biggest gripe is the comeback mechanics seem to make it way too easy to come back, you can be losing for 18 minutes and comeback in the final 2. It makes for exciting games though.
Also the switching of items for talents really seals the deal.
As for the look of the game, its very Blizzard. They have the best style in the industry, imo, and their game looks great as a result
What graphics card, Iâm looking to upgrade my 6670 to a nice mid range card to max out some of these games, GPUs move so fast tho? Was thinking the 750.
It LOOKS super casual, and I can respect that if people arenât into a traditional MOBA like Dawngate. I still havenât gotten into the beta for HotS so I havenât tried it. But everything Iâve seen, looks really REALLY casual. Thatâs cool, I guess. Dawngate can take over the hardcore MOBA crowd, HotS can have the casual players and Blizzard marks. Thereâs definitely room for both.
I had no plans to get it since I havenât built my pc yet but that price made me give in Im scared to share the website incase they get shut down. Thereâs also titanfall for 15 on ebay.
(these are uk prices so watchdogs is probably 30 dollarsâŚ!)
My new finding sounds better with less information
Depending on the games you want to max out, the 750 might not cut it.
Might want to consider something like the 760. Although, if I recall correctly, the 750 gets all of its power from the board, which is nice if you donât have a larger power supply.
Quick question but do you think the my graphics card, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 can go for a few more years or would you say itâs slightly outdated?
That and Ys Origin should be the top of the list. Theyâre not really JRPGs thoughâŚtheyâre closer to a more actiony Zelda with some really light RPG elements.
