I was using this pad http://www.slagcoin.com/joystick/pcb_diagrams/ps1_diagram4.jpg and I used a multimeter to test the 3.3v but I got nothing so I tested all the other points next to it and they all read 3.3v so I used the point directly below the one marked and it seemed to work fine. My question is will this mess up anything?
Bah, looks like I my error. Thanks for pointing it out. Yeah, it should be the second from bottom; the one I have circled is the ground.
I’ll fix it right now.
Edit: Fixed.
Guess that’s a consequence of doing like 25 PCB diagrams in the span of a week. I’ll look through them later and make sure they’re accurate.
hey,
i didnt find any posts about it, so has anybody ever tried to hack this gamepad for the PS3??
I can get it really cheap, so it would be nice to know whether it can be soldered with average solding skillz

Cool so I’m not screwing anything up, and thank you for the sixaxis advice about looking at the resistors on the ribbon.
What is the problem with them? Is it the lag from soldering the triggers above the sensors or what? I might scrap the idea of using a dual pbc and just go with adapters. More expensive, less tedious.
Hey guys I need help I took apart this joystick located on this website http://www.gamevortex.com/gamevortex/hard_rev.php/254 . When I tried testing it out only thing works is left and up left the weird thing is that the buttons work but only when I am holding LEFT other wise they don’t work. Help me out guys it is for the Play Station.
I have recently purchased a PS1 pad without the analog sticks. I assume that its not a dualshock then. What does not work with it?
People here seems to advice against using them for compatability issues with converters/newer games. Are those issues worth worrying about?
I want my future stick to “just work” with games such as third strike, tekken and the like.
Edit: I have found some more info from a post way back in 07 that states that there shouldnt be all that much trouble. Is it still true? With newer games and such?
I use a PS1 controller when playing MvC2 on the PS2 and it works fine. As for the adapters, I know Cube JoyBox works well for CvS2 EO (me and my bad ports, I know) but I don’t know about any other adapters (Dreamcast, USB, etc.).
Is it possible to Mod a Street Fighter Anniversary Edition Controllers for a better D-pad & Buttons
can anybody confirm these points on the microsoft wireless 360 pad (common ground version)?

im pretty sure everything is correct, i just need to confirm the ground.
thanks.
^I’m interested in that too.
can someone tell me if I can remove the analog sticks from a hacked A series dualshock? They keep getting hit by all the cables in the CP and I want them gone so will it still function if I rip them off? And what would be the best way to do it: cut the knob off ordesilder them from the PCB?
Just remove the knobs (the part that you actually play with - mmm…) and you will be fine. I’ve heard stories of PCB going crazy when cutting the analogs off…
are old xbox’s gamestop controllers common ground?
You can remove the analog sticks by de-soldering them however you need to add resistors where the analog switches were. There are also two points that need to be bridged where the digital switch was. The easiest way to lock down things though is to shoot some hot glue into the analog sticks and leave them on the circuit board.

Hey guys, I need your help!
Could somebody post pics of a PS1 Version M and H PCB that is wired? And without cuting off a part of the PCB like SlagCoin did with the H Version.
Could somebody explain where I have to exactly solder the wire on the M Version, as the square, triangle, circle and X are irritating me with there being like 4 parts for every button (2ground and 2signal?).
Thanks guys
Post a pic of the board and we would be glad to help.

I’m confused about how I have to do the X,O,square and triangle buttons as they have 2 rubbers sharing the signal and 2 sharing the ground.
Also can I solder the wire that is used for the ground to anywhere of the brighter green area?
if you look at the buttons there is a trace connecting the two ground and another trace connecting the two signal contacts. You can use either contact for the signal and should have no problems.

I have one of the old models of an official 360 pad(non common ground version)
can you chain up all the grounds then daisy chain all the buttons from there? or would that just cause all sorts of buttons to activate
