*The "padhacking" thread*

Thanks for the help!
I’ll post a pic when i’m done.

I have a madcatz 4716 pad for 360 right now and I’m thinking about throwing it in my old HRAP. Is this the easiest pcb to work with right now for the 360? I’m willing to throw some money on another pcb if it means less headaches but I’m cheap and I want to make sure I don’t have any input lag also.

4716 is the easiest if you are not needing LT&RT (avoiding trigger hacking). if you NEED LT&RT, either the Madcatz TE/SE pcb or Madcatz Street Fighter Fightpad pcb will be your best bet.

weird psOne pad

Alright, so i got this psOne pad off of amazon but when i looked over the pcb i became confused

and here’s the membrane thingey

Yfrog Photo : yfrog.com/e4picture8rj

if you notice on the 2nd picture near where the start button is theres a little square piece suggesting a resistor which then connects into the ground

should i grab a resistor and solder that onto the board? And if so, what type

i couldnt take a picture of the back of the controller (light was awkward), but it said SCPH100 A(the A was somewhere else, but that should be what the model is anyways)

nvm, if you happen to grab this pcb

return it immediately, cant solder onto those 18 points (well very tough to do so)

These PCB’s are pretty tough to work on.

Try to get older ones from Ebay. At least with the older PS1 controllers, the membrane can be removed and you can just insert solid 22 AWG wires into the part where the membrane was removed. Also, the ones that require soldering are usually very easy to work with.

1st party PS2 controllers generally will malfunction if you remove the membrane or will simply cease to function. PS1 Duashocks are the way to go.

^agreed. PS-DS1 all the way =)

that was a ps1-DS1

just a very crappy one to work with D:

lol, that’s why i only stick with the Sony brand PS-DS1’s

it was also a sony brand D:

I had a lot of success my self hacking Mad Catz brand PS2 Dual Shock controllers.
They are almost identical to PS1 DS, and both PS1 and PS2 DS works on ether console.
Also Mad Catz PS2 DS can be found cheaply in many places, “some” of the Game Stop Brand PS2 DS is actually a re-branded Mad Catz.

would you happen to have some pictures of the controllers or the model numbers

looking at this one right now, currently dualshock 1 are about $8 a piece with shipping. PS2 Controller for Playstation 2 | GameStop

wouldnt mind spending $2 just to have it right there

I have started working with Saitek PS1000 Gamepad. It is common ground for all keys except for directionals. Response is awesome and it has PS2, PS3 and PC support. One damn good PCB.

I’m sorry, there was a topic on this, but i can’t find it after 2 hours of searching:

please, can someone tell me if the Nubytech Street Fighter Anniversary arcade stick PCB is common ground ? i think it is not, but i want to be sure for answering my customer before accepting his order, thank you very much for the answer.

I think it is. you can find the pin-outs here
Joystick Controller - PCB and Wiring

edit: oops maybe not.

Not all of them are. There’s a number of SFAC pcbs that are common high, not common ground. I dont know any way of identifying them for sure without cracking out the multimeter.

that’s what i thought, thank you for the quick info, i’ll get the multimeter and ask him to come to test.

I have one of these just waiting for the time I can wire it up, found it in my mother in laws garage lol. Plug&Play ftw =]

Question I know it may sound very stupid but it’s worth the shot. Gummowned did a excellent job dual modding my Hori pad a while back. I purchased a new one so I can have 2 pads dual modded so I can have a backup just in case. Here is the issue, the beam that was cut to make space for the pcb and its behind the facebuttons and they tend to jam from time to time. I wonder could a mad catz fight pad pcb be cut down in size so it can be used inside without having cut any of the support beams.

If not does anyone have a clue, and hit me up please

EDIT: What I mean by cut down on the Mad Catz fight pad is to still use that PBD as a mod where it would only be the chip and some PCB, is this possible?

PCB is great. Awesome response and no problem with fast and multiple imputs in a short period of time. Pretty easy to mod. If you need any help, feel free to contact me.
