okay, might be lack of sleep, working on night, i don’t know, i was working on analogs thinking of it as triggers, thanks for the quick reply.
i have a psx digital h pad. i was going to cut off the cable to use for the mc cthulhu. is there anyway to find out which wires are the data, cmd, ack, etc lines just by looking at the pad, or at least without a multimeter? thanks.
So just to be clear, the stock Dreamcast pad has laggy triggers and should not be used? I’m using a DC pad that is 3rd party and works fine, but I kinda don’t want to have to have another one shipped if I got a DC controller here.
You should just get a wii classic controller its $20, you don’t have to pay shipping plus, you could get it RIGHT NOW!!!
Also, the pcb diagrams are on SRK.

Edit of the edit: I was wondering if anyone has ‘padhacked’ the mas systems pcb? If needed, I’ll provide a picture to help jog your memories. If not, I could make a pcb diagram after I test out the points.
PCB for PC/USB custom stick
Hello,
Which gamepad would you recommend to build a fightstick for PC use (easy to solder and cheap, if possible) ?
I have a Sanwa JLF, so the PCB needs to be common ground (at least for the 4 directions). Slagcoin.com only mentions the Logitech Precision, but this pad is very hard to find in Europe (also it seems to have known problems when soldering).
Or maybe any cheap usb pad would do ? (but then how do i find the solder points if the pcb is not documented…)
If no such gamepad is available, whats the best [console gamepad + USB adapter] solution for achieving this ?
Thanks a lot
If available, just use a Madcatz Xbox 360 pad.
I am trying to dual mod a PSone and Madcatz 360 pad together and am having an annoying issue. My wiring on each pad works perfectly fine but, when I hook both pads together, PSone pad begins to jump (holding up) non-stop when connected to the console. My friend suggested it may be because of the 2 varied voltage levels in the two pads when connected together (3.3v versus 5v). Anyone with some insight into my issue? He suggested that I may need a resistor in order to get it to work correctly but I have NO CLUE where it would go and what type (level of?) I would need.
Thanks for any help.
Edit no Jutsu: After reading up this page a little, it seems like someone was trying to learn how to dual mod the very same set up and was asking questions.
After seeing my issue, how would you go about correcting it?
It would help to see a picture of your wiring. There is a problem somewhere causing UP to register. No need to worry about voltage, difference is minimal and has no effect on the setup. I like using terminal strips for this type of mod.

Alright, I will take a picture and post it up tonight.
I can’t say what’s up w/ your jumping issue, but as far as dropping 5V down to 3.3V, diodes are an easy fix. Diodes drop a certain amount of voltage when they pass current. You can put a few diodes in series between 5V and 3.3V. Best way to know what you are dropping it down to is to measure it w/ a voltmeter. I’d start by just soldering two off of 5V and measure that voltage (without the 3.3V hooked up). If it’s like 4V, throw another diode in series. If it’s close to 3.3V, call it good and hook the end of that diode up to 3.3V. It would look something like this:
5V —>|— --->|— --->|— 3.3V
—>|— is a diode, by the way :karate: Arrow points to the cathode end.

Hi guys,
Does anyone have the layout for a Mac Catz MV-547160 pcb for the Xbox 360? I believe this one is common-ground but is it a reliable pcb? I tried to search the thread but there’s way too many pages to go through. Thanks…
It’s probably this : http://slagcoin.com/joystick/pcb_diagrams/360_diagram4.jpg
or this : http://slagcoin.com/joystick/pcb_diagrams/360_diagram3.jpg
and yes, Mad Catz makes decent PCBs.
I’m using a Mad Catz Arcade Joystick PCB. Worked so well in fact, I bought another.
posting this in here and also the noobie tech thread…
okay so after a lot of soldering on my 360 padhack ive finally gotten most of the main buttons working on the dpad, however im having probs with the ‘Down’ button. ive soldered it many times now and it still doesnt even register at all and i cant figure out if ive done something wrong, or not done something i should have.
take a look

iv followed the trace from the dpad down direction and soldered it to the via, the same as i have done with all the other buttons, yet this one refuses to work.
any help at all? iv already tried soldering to the via on the other side but the copper ring came out of it and its getting a bit cramped on the other side anyway with 2 other wires in very close vicinity.
any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks so much!! Big help!!!
If it’s a good solder joint (which I’m not convinced of, just looking at the level of black material still on the pad), my suspicion lies in the grounding of your button. No/poor ground is just as bad as no button signal.

if anyone has a madcatz pad, 4716-1 Ver.G (these are the late versions btw). could they possibly post a pic of any alternative points for the guide button. Or just highlight the trace (via like paint or somethin)
I have one right now, but the trace got ripped so far from where the main points are, it’s pretty much impossible to trace where the signal is.
thanks
If anyone wanted to hack an official Game Cube controller and is stuck on the analog trigger part, I posted a trigger hacking tutorial here. And to set the record straight, official GC controllers are totally common ground (don’t let the Slagcoin guide confuse you).

Ok so I want to replace the USB cable on my Paewang Revolution with a different USB cable so I can use the Switchtech pass through. Anyway it has 5 wires connected to it Red, white, Black, green and grey? Any idea what it’s for and what I do with it?
BTW I’m planning on replacing it with an RJ45 jack and a break away 360 cable
If the gray is thick, then it is Shield Ground.
You don’t really need it.
Ah yeah thats what I was thinking but just wanted confirmation before I start cutting away lol
