I can’t decided on a team in Marvel 3. Viper, Doma, Tron; Chris, Dante, Doom; Super Skrull, Amy, Hsien-Ko; and Mag, Storm, Sent are the teams I have so far. None of them are Vanilla Sagat for me. I need a team that just wipes the floor with people.

I suggest you honestly…pick someone you like that isn’t Thor. Tournament footage shows quite the variety (aside from Sentinel & Phoenix) and some teams that may seem weird actually do stupid well. Its a fresh new game, people are still trying to figure out teams and characters. I myself can’t choose a team but am sticking with Felicia/Magneto/Doom for the meantime. Think of a point character that you like, then see their strengths and weaknesses and back them up with the proper assist. Shehulk with Tron is godlike, or someone that allows Shehulk to get in. Wolverine or anyone that can otg can pair up well with Akuma. Plenty of possibilities, go with something you like

This. I expected to be able to have a few laughs at the expense of my brother’s team, but even somebody like him who doesn’t play by ultra-conservative Marvel 2 team-building rules (like, ahem, myself) has found success in Marvel 3 playing more or less whoever the fuck he wants. Zero and Wesker have great offensive synergy (oh my fucking god which way do I block) and players like Trent and Jeff in SFL have been proof-of-concept for Tron’s versatility. It still hurts if you get hit by Sentinel, but once my brother’s team gets in that ass, it tends to stay there for a while. A LOT more momentum than I expected. As long as you don’t just completely random-select and actually go into training mode to test how your team works together (OTG/relaunch tools? defensive options? meter dynamics?), it’s surprisingly hard to go wrong picking whoever you like.
And if you’re looking for vanilla Sagat…in terms of zoning dynamics I don’t think you’ll find much better than Sentinel + Haggar lariat assist. Sentinel provides the Tiger Shots, Haggar provides the Tiger Uppercut, rushdown teams will hate you, and if you have a good zoning battery, you can make zoning teams hate you as well. More or less the same vulnerabilities as Sagat, to boot…be careful about Haggar/Sentinel stuff getting baited, be prudent when they get to mid-range, and exploit their frustration/desperation to kick them back out to zoning range. Seems more than efficient for killing both scrubs and teams who have poor answers for Sent + Haggar. About the only downside to the team is you have to learn Haggar (gotta counter-troll those snap-ins), but compared to learning Gief in MvC2, that’s like a walk in the park.
