Same picture but different file name.

Great score Meus !! i would love to lurk your auction site… lol …
I saw that Flash1, and I knew you were going to get it. You also most likely got that boxed Namco stick that ended recently. I would love it if you didn’t bid on this listing so that I can win it, hahaha:
The black box namco i lost on that one. Dont worry i wouldnt but i noticed lately locals from japan are bidding heavy on the namco stick. Last year it wasnt like this. I could get ok shape namco for 1000 yen and it was only me bidding but this month i have lost 4 namco’s to local folk’s.
No! i have seen that and will pass. I can get 2 of agetec for 1000 yen.
I did win this too today for 1000 yen. Those pads go for 6 to 80 dollars.

what was the voltage with the ascii answer? I’m thinking about using it with an official N64 PCB, even though it’s 3.3 on it.
Its 5v like flash1 too. 3.3v should be ok for the ascii optical but it might damage.
The ASCII Answer originally had optics rated at +5V. However, since the Answer also came in a lot of PlayStation 1 era sticks, they’ve been tried and proven to work just fine on +3.3V since that’s what the PS1 provided for controllers.
How do Happ P360’s compare to the Sanwa Flash1?
Hah! That’s like asking how do American parts compare to Japanese parts! :looney:
For everyone in the future (not that anyone will be looking at this post in the future!), there has never been any major, widespread issues regarding the actual optics of any of these joysticks. The most widespread problem you’ll hear about is that the newer produced Happ Perfect 360s have issues, be it issues with the pivot, diagonals not sensing, et cetera but those are NOT caused by the sensors. The reason for the problem in the first place was when Wico, the company who produced the original Perfect 360s and made the HS-ASSY FLASH 1 PCBs for Sanwa’s FLASH 1s, stopped producing things for Happ, so Happ had to start their own Perfect 360 production line using their factories in China. At first, the batches of Perfect 360s had issues with the actual construction; the optics were pretty solid assuming you weren’t doing anything stupid like trying to run them on say a +1V power source instead of the required +5V. Overtime, the joysticks became much better in build quality, but people who have played on both have said, “They’re just not the same as the old Wico ones.” I’ve never used the Happ ones, so I can’t say for sure! But if you buy a Perfect 360 nowadays, they’ll be mostly problem free. Some people have experienced pivot grinding issues, but that’s been solved in most cases by either breaking the joystick in some more or lubing it up.
The Sanwa FLASH 1 was built basically to-spec of the Sanwa JLF. As far as I know, engage distance, deadzone, and throw are all the exact same. The FLASH 1 feels more “precise” though since it’s not limited by physical switches, it’s entirely optical meaning that it’s got far better precision. Otherwise, it’s the exact same as a JLF. The ASCII Answer is also essentially the exact same as the FLASH 1. If/when I get a FLASH 1, I’ll be providing some numbers to prove it, but the ASCII Answer is a fine replacement for the FLASH 1.
I’m always going to call it ASCII Optical.
ASCII Answer sounds weird to me.
Laugh.
