I’d say its a certainty. Every modern fighter I can think of has 'em.
True. The only games I know of that doesn’t use points is HD Remix and Marvel 2.
And Tekken 6.
I thought T6 had an online ranking system, or is there only the weird offline one?
I don’t know about SSF4-like BP (which is character specific), since this is a team based game. I’m thinking SSF4-like PP is likely to happen. Something that could replace BP is some sort of experience points for each character. Win or lose you get some xp and as you level up it unlocks Icons and Titles. Would be neat having a “99” by the name of your MODOK when you play online.
I really like this idea. Unlocking alt costumes and taunts this way would be sweet as well.
Hi everyone; long-time lurker, first-time poster.
I made a post on capcom-unity’s suggestion board, and I encourage any of you with a similar perspective to vote the suggestion up so Capcom knows how crucial this is to us.
You can go to this page:
Whoops! Browser Settings Incompatible
Then, sort the suggestion box by “Last Week”; mine should be on top. I am not sure how to link to it otherwise, so if someone knows how, please do not hesitate to tell me.
Yeah it has ranking, but not points like BP which is what I thought was what was being asked about.
I wish they’d take these kind of things out to be honest. It’s why I only play non-ranked. Less rage quit. People should play for the fun of the fight, not silly accolades. This aint Modern Warfare!
Yeah, but Leaderboards are the very basic heart of all games…kind of hard to do away with it, plus, on top of that, with a ranking system, it becomes easier to play against people your level or better.
Oh yeah, it aint going anywhere anytime soon. I still hate what it encourages though.
Any competitive game will encourage it though.
And I don’t get why. Titles and numbers just encourage superficial nonsense. And it’s not just fighting games. Just look at what it does to any shooter. Kids boosting to get camo’s and accolades.
Depends how preachy you want me to get for an explanation.
This DOESN’T apply to irl competitive sports?
anyone who takes points like BP seriously is an idiot
People don’t sit in corners shooting each other in the head or pull ethernet cords in football do they?
Is an explanation possible without preachyness? No one should give a damn about BP, ranks and such anyway.
short version: People love superficial nonsense. For that matter, people love working for a goal.
I actually found BP useful at one point… (story) I signed up for super in evo this last year, but then got bored of the game and quit playing. About the third week of June I realized I was in serious trouble but didn’t wanna drop out. BP and the ‘play someone more skilled than yourself’ button were both of huge assistance to me in getting at least somewhat up to speed (then I was put in dreaded pool N, lol).
Edit: The point is, the BP were really helpful to me practicing.
Nah B! You cant run with KFC and want trials! Blasphemy
But seriously. Thata wont be something I’m down for. I wanna discover
Yeah, fuck that spoon fed shit!
It gives people a feeling of accomplishment, and is an easy way to award trophies and titles.
I pretty much expect to see them too, for the above reasons. Hate 'em too tho
