The Official Wii U thread V.1.1 - Sun Sets on Wii U, Switch Over In March

Sadly ignore function does not work on my phone.

Anyways I was watching a playthrough of zombi u on youtube and really like that you can bash the heads of the motionless on the ground so you don’t have any mandatory surprises come from behind you. the atmosphere of the game seems to be really creepy and I like in the walkthroughs you can see what is happening around the player as they look at the gamepad. It is pretty entertaining.
I am really trying to be good and not go out and buy 1 right now but man hearing everyone else talk about there’s makes me want mine.

edit: wait why the fuck am i trying to reason with psychojosh

Back at ya bitch.
Got Ninja Gaiden and Zombi U from Best Buy yesterday, price matched the Toys R Us B1G1 40% off sale. Still hesitant on opening Zombi U, opinions on it seems all over the map. Might just say “fuck it” and keep the thing, if I’m not able to get in on Super Mario at Old Navy I’ll see if I can exchange Zombi U at BB for it, otherwise I’ll try it out.
The hell is Tank Tank Tank? I’ve seen vids of it, anyone calling this a great game here?

Dude its widely known that 360’s have a ridiculous failure rate.
And its believed the wii is the most sturdy console this gen.

Heres a study some company did. No its not inconclusive and yeah nothings perfect but everything I’ve seen and heard points to the wii being the most reliable console this gen.

The way I see it is just ask yourself if you want to play a zombie game where ammo is scarce and you are really trying to fight for your survival or do you prefer the cod/resi 6 type of zombie game. If it is the latter then I would just return it and get something else that you might like more.

From watching the gameplay it seems to be a game where you are very conservative and catious with your ammo usage and will be bashing in zombies heads a lot of the time.

Your name is kyle hyde.
You sir are awesome.

Sounds like a bi of Dark Souls there. May just open it up tonight. Seems a lot more realistic than you just tripping over spare ammo in every hallway.

That is actually what people that have played it have said. I haven’t played it myself, but have watched some playthroughs and talked to some people that have so you can take my take with a grain of salt but sonichuman has had some time with it so he should be able to give you a better take on it.

Did Psychojosh say something retarded? I can’t see it.

Don’t know if you can see this bro, but the 360 issues are well-known. I’ve experienced that shit myself with my brother’s ex’s 360, and I personally dealt with it for her. It’s one of the reasons I don’t care to own a 360, and went with the PS3 (which by the way, did not break down yet). That you would even try to deny the 360’s issues just makes you look like a troll, because not even the most die-hard fanboy can deny it.

Am I a man made out of straw? I never denied anything about the 360’s failure rate, in fact you’ll notice that I never said anything about it. I was just saying Nintendo systems did have failure issues, while saying you need more than anecdotal proof for certain claims. Figures you guys would go to great lengths to respond to arguments that were never made in a really stupid attempt to stop me from blaspheming in the house of your worship. How’s that Nintendo cock taste?

That’s not possible when consoles simply run off modified desktop GPUs, most likely AMD but AMD has fallen behind Nvidia in the graphics war lately. There are some rumors floating around that say the next MSony consoles may have GPUs as powerful as the HD 7000 line. But even if that were the case by the time they’re released, Q4 '13 at the earliest, more powerful PC GPUs like the HD 8000 cards and the Geforce 700 series will be out.

If they’re to innovate anything it’ll be in the services (including online) the boxes provide. But innovate is probably the wrong word to use here, more like continue to evolve their existing services. True innovation you’re not going to find from console gaming. I recommend you turn to indie games. Too many studios have closed this generation and the costs to produce a game are only going to continue to increase. The cost to even license engines like CryEngine and Unreal are $1 million. All the publishers will play it safe, which means more derivatives of God of War, Call of Duty, GTA, Skyrim, and Uncharted-style platforming.

Actually, the memory’s speed was mentioned during the japanese video explanation of the Wii U’s architecture. I’ve been seeing posts from hardware nerds who see this as a non-issue due to the system’s EDRAM and overall design (Don’t ask me to explain; this is way over my head lol)

The CPU comments are being misunderstood. The Wii U CPU’s clock speed is slower than the PS3’s/X360’s, but that’s actually a good thing. the Wii U’s CPU (like almost all modern CPU’s) can do more per clock cycle, reducing the need for a faster clock speed. Of course, less speed means less heat and power consumption. Think of it in this way: which would be more efficient: Transporting goods from Point A to Point B (continuously) with a Corvette with hardly no storage space or with a slower minivan with ample space? Sure, the Corvette would be faster but way less efficient due to the fact that it would take many more trips to transport the same amount of goods. Corvette = PS3/X360 and Minivan = Wii U CPU

This is the reason why any current generation AMD or Intel CPU running let’s say … 2 ghz clock speed would murder a Pentium 4 running a clock speed of 3.6 ghz. Not only that, but the current gen chips would do so using less energy, and hence less heat is produced. But again, the code must be optimized to take advantage of this. Some publishers (like EA) don’t take the time to rewrite the code to really utilize the modern architecture of the Wii U giving the impression that the console is weak, when it’s a matter of priorities (or in EA’s case, just plain being lazy because they own the sports market).

http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/728424/oculus-rift-virtual-reality-headset-preview-seeing-is-believing/

Even if the first two weren’t being pushed forward on the next gen consoles thes oculus rift virtual reality headset is

  1. Able to run with games easily on the Wii U and the other next gen consoles

  2. Is easy to implement onto even older games (1st game is 7 years old)

  3. Has backing from not only dozens of top developers it also has indie developers already making games for it

  4. Wii U has Unity. Oculus Rift has Unity compatibility

  5. Innovation is a word run dry, we need either AR or VR to truly innovate

  6. Older and non gamers are attracted to games that are liberated from the control pad.

  7. Easy money

  8. Stop encouraging their degenerative money making lazy tactics

@Bunkei Ah yes, the “developer lazyness” excuse. That one’s new. The facts are there, you can delude yourself all you want, and it won’t change the facts that this console is worse than the PS3/360 in terms of power. Multiple ports from various developers and publishers were released and they ALL run significantly worse than their PS3/360 brothers like I said before. Not only do they have to learn a new console(which isn’t new at all, everything in the Wii U is off the shelf PC hardware from 6-7+ years ago, Direct X 10 stuff.) they also have to deal with a console that isn’t as powerful as the PS3/360. So “lazy developers” making games on a weaker console than the PS3/360 should come as no surprise that they aren’t performing as well.

If you honestly believe third party devs are being lazy right now, then you can expect them to be for the entire lifespan of this console or for however long the Wii U is getting games ported to it. Once the new PS/Xbox get released this thing is going to see very little third party support, just like the Wii.

You’ve completely ignored every single point I made to this point, but yet I’m the one that is delusional? Okaaaayyy

Now you’ve resorting to twisting my words. I didn’t say that every developer was lazy; in fact I praised developers from Ubisoft and Activision for bringing over their most popular franchises to the Wii U completely intact. I did call out EA for being lazy because they have done poor/half-assed ports before back when the X360 came out.

Lastly, show me proof that “everything in the Wii U is off the shelf PC hardware from 6-7+ years go”. (If that’s true then there should be no mystery as to what hardware it’s running but I digress)

On a more positive note. I’m liking what I’m hearing about the eshop

I like this development. I hope Nintendo succeeds with this to force a change in the business models of PSN and XBL.

All I do is draw random shit in Miiverse. That alone makes me happy.

Rackin’ in dem Yeahs.

Sent from my iPhone 4S cause fuck you.

 You dirty Motherflower…

The only Wii U’s that I found in stock were the basic set, unfortunately.
I made a deal with a co-worker who was planning to shop at Old Navy. I told her that if she is able to get NSMBU, I would pay her $40 for the game. It’s a win-win for us both!

GS has actually been getting them in at a fairly decent rate…I say so far about 5-6 Deluxes a week maybe? So if you don’t have one and you want one you still have shot if GS has gone through everyone on their wait list.

I love seen the drawings randomly pop up in miiverse. You guys are drawing your asses off lol.
