I believe it’s probably more of a profit issue. This is going to be Nintendo’s first time going into HD so I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they decided to pull the hot new thing that’s been going on and port GC and Wii titles to the system in ‘STUNNING’ high def and make some extra money in the process. It’s easily been shown that it can be done on PC and while the system isn’t perfect Nintendo could easily look at what Dolphin is doing and use their know how to tweek it and make it work for WiiU with not much hassle…the fact that they’re NOT doing this leads me to believe that they’re going to do what I just said.

Or again they could just not do that and decide to not try to make money off of that because it’s Nintendo lol.

GS at the moment is taking preorders on Wii U games but not the system for those who are interested. Unfortunately Project P-100 is not among them at the moment…probably because the name isn’t even finalized yet.

Nintendo had an analyst QA Session

At first it mentioned a hard drive and then Iwata had to clarify his statements. The english transcript was up but it had to be taken down because of the goof. Gaf has some good excerpts up in the thread from it though. Nintendo is really trying to get out there and help third parties.

someone brought Project M to our fight club get togethers and I got a chance to play it. I have to say…it’s pretty fun. I had been avoiding it since it wasn’t ‘official’ but it genuinely a fun mod…the fact that I don’t have to mod my Wii to play it is a definite plus.

Thought I heard a while back, Nintendo owns the franchise now, still uses the development team at Temco Koei but owns the rights to the Fatal Frame/Zero franchise which is why the last three related games (4, a remake of 2 set to be released this summer and the 3DS spinoff AR game) are all on Nintendo systems.

Prime series focuses far more on exploration than than a usual FPS. Considering what Samus does in her adventures when you take the camera and move it from being 2D game only, you’re either going to be left with something that’s feels like a some kind of shooter (Prime) or Other M.

Wii U has an HDMI port and can output games at 1080p. Nintendo’s launch games will be 720p but I don’t know about the 3rd party stuff. If 3rd parties don’t feel like putting forth the extra effort to display their games in true 720p and up then they’re probably not going to do it for Wii U unless there is some sort of incentive to do so.

Nah they only own the publishing rights to the games that are made on the Wii but they don’t own the franchise

I kinda agree with David Jaffe but for a different reason. I believe that the consoles will go mobile in the future, if not already with the new xbox and ps4. I know Nintendo was considering it for the Wiiu, and this will be their last “home” console. Maybe even for Microsoft and Sony.

I got my copy of The Last Story yesterday but I haven’t played it yet, playing through Pandora’s Tower atm. Xenoblade is awesome but I had to stop playing 'cos my Wii is a 2006 model and it doesn’t like dual layered discs very much :frowning:

You’re not from the usa I take it then? Because The Last Story isn’t out here yet. And I bet that dual layered discs problem was just nintendo cheaping out on hardware at first right?

don’t know exactly on that. My Wii is a launch/first year Wii and it’s pretty much been doing fine with dual layered discs. The most problems would be maybe every once in a blue moon it won’t recognize Brawl right off the bat but taking it out and putting it back in fixed that. Dual layered discs probably just take more work to use and some launch Wii’s lenses probably eventually wear down because of it…probably in a similiar fashion to Fat PS2’s and certain discs.

Man…I like fighting a bunch of enemies at once to get as many experience points in one go in Xenoblade but that has fucked me over at least 3 times today especially in transitioning from day to night. I’ll be fighting some enemies and then I’ll purposefully run into any other enemies within the vicinity WITHOUT checking for their name or their level. As soon as ‘You Will Know Our Names’ kicks in I’m like ‘oh shit…who did I just pull into this battle?’. 10 seconds in Shulk’s telling me ‘yo man I just had a vision…and we are about to have our asses handed to us!’. BAM! down goes my other 2 teamates if not for a lack of trying to prevent the outcome from occuring.

Far worse if it’s a day to night transition and I’m out fighting then suddenly some level 85 monster just appears in the group like ’ =D '. Me: OMFG Shulk: I’M HAVING A V-dead

I’m from the UK. From what I’ve read the older lasers sometimes struggle to read dual layered games sometimes, so I’m just gonna wait till I get my WiiU to play Xenoblade, which kinda sucks 'cos it’s a really fun game.
