The Official Wii U thread V.1.1 - Sun Sets on Wii U, Switch Over In March

Just reserved 2 Wii U black bundles.

Didn’t even know about Bayonetta or Monster Hunter.

Nano Assault Neo looks fucking DOPE.

Well if anyone would like to talk about Bayonetta as a game and doesn’t want to wade througth the Bayonetta 2 topic I’ll drop this here.

If anyone else is interested in giving the teaser a closer look I can tell you this.

One thing everyone seems to be over looking is the gun we see at the end of the trailer doesn’t belong to the Scarborough Fair set. It does belong to another set tho.

So I haven’t really been following the Wii U at all. I’ve already got a PS3(x2) and a 360 and honestly the 360 doesn’t get played at all unless some friends want to play Halo. So what are the big motivating factors to get a Wii U? Won’t a lot of games end up multi-platform anyway?

I went in earlier and the dude looked confused as fuck over the Wii U. He knew everything was out and prices/dates for pre-orders but not one else (IE the customers) knew and they didn’t try to advertise it. Was really odd, but maybe the Wii U won’t be the Wii in terms of launch fuckery and I can actually get a system when I want to.

I just want to know launch titles, as in the day. All anyone can give me is launch window which spans from the day to March 2013. I’d like to know if there is enough there on launch to keep me entertained during that window in order to make a purchace. Like if I got Tank!Tank!Tank!. Hero 100 or whatever the Platinum game is called now, and NSMBWU I’d be ok.

I would also like a demo and demonstration of the online social features and networking. It looked comparable to XBLA before and that was a big selling point to me, I like to easily find friends, invite them to chatrooms and games and compare games in a simple way. If the online interactions are like that and a lot of games come with MP online (Those games I listed would keep me entertained for a good while if it did have online MP) then they can take my money now.

The “best” games won’t be multi-platform, but I’m biased.

Regarding hardware, for now the big motivation is that games can be played on the TV or on the handheld. But Nintendo has patented several new gameplay mechanics integrating Wiimote and balance board with the GamePad. Nintendo has been the leader of innovative use of hardware every generation (except maybe Gamecube). Plus there’s the whole HD and USB hard drive expansion option.

As for software:

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (This will likely be exclusive)
Bayonetta 2 (This will likely be exclusive for a while)
**Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge **(Technically exclusive. I consider the other NG3 a failed beta test, and this is their revision)
Batman Arkham City: Armored Edition (Like NG3, except the original BAC was dope)
Dragon Quest X (Assuming it comes to the west)
Monolith Soft Project (again, assuming it comes to the west)

But for me, the main reason to get Wii U is for the first party Nintendo games:

Pikmin 3
New Super Mario Bros U
Smash 4
Zelda

Plus whatever other Nintendo franchises they bring.

I LOL’d. This is true. Ever since Apple introduced the iPod I’ve replaced more broken Apple branded products than the last 25 years of gaming consoles.

My current plan is to get a Wii U for Nintendo games, Bayo 2 and whatever other exclusives they manage to snag and build a new PC to play ports of PS4/720 games. I’ve given up on The Last Guardian, and none of Sony or Microsoft’s remaining exclusives interest me be it Gears of War, Halo, God of War, Uncharted, Little Big Planet, etc. I might miss Gran Turismo 6 though.

Maybe I’ll eventually come around and pick up a second console if games like Final Fantasy 15 and MGS5 aren’t released on Wii U or PC, but that remains to be seen.

Good shit Shin’en. Man…I got a lot of catching up to do…and I gotta update the front page lol.

Big image of contents for each Wii U bundle option.

people in my area are going to be like…‘This doesn’t come with any a/v cables? what about an R/F switch?’

I know most of you guys are smart so it goes without saying…DON’T TRADE IN YOUR WII IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR STUFF TO TRANSFER IT OVER.

If they are going to do this then there better be a Captain Falcon costume in this. You hear me Namco?! It would be crime PUNISHABLE BY DEATH if there isn’t a Captain Falcon costume in this.

Lars Captain Falcon, easy choice. Or Paul.

Ogre as Ganon.

Ancient Ogre as Ganondorf?

The WiiU line up so far has been phenomenal.

Ninja Gaiden 3 WiiU edition
Bayonetta 2
Wonderful 100
TTT2 Wii U editon
Nano Assault Neo

Nintendo should buy Shenmue 3 then it is a done deal for me.

I was thinking Paul too. He pretty much already has the Falcon Punch.

Wii to Wii U transfer details

You won’t be able to play VC games on the gamepad :(…I’m hoping they can patch that in later.

Bayonetta 2 Devs Respond to Exclusivity Criticism

It seems more and more that Sega was preparing to drop the game despite it being in the works because of them being in financial trouble.

Mutant Mudds Deluxe Announced for Wii U

I haven’t watched the Japan Direct yet but it’s pretty much been 100% confirmed that Monolith Soft is making a game for Wii U

It will also not be tied to any existing franchise…completely new IP.

YO…WTF!? My manager just called and told me they’re talking about turning the sku off on the premium Wii U this afternoon. WTF!? I’m going to go get mine preordered right now.

Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage 2

Edit: @Sonic: Yeah wtf? I know Toys R Us and Best Buy are now taking pre-orders for the Premium bundle. Seems like it would be a big mistake to just drop out of the market. Hopefully it’s because there’s been an astronomical amount of pre-orders.

Nintendo is sitting on a wealth of properties in desperate need of new games. And not just that they should strive to make development on the WiiU more accessible to those without publisher support. I’m not saying make an Indie Ghetto like Microsoft or be super picky like Sony or even do something like Steam’s Greenlight but there needs to be something so that smaller developers can participate too. While modification would be necessary modified versions of Touch Screen games could probably work on the WiiU. Getting back to their properties and new games however I’m going to make a list of games and what benefits the WiiU could bring to them.

F-Zero - We got the motion control so you could use that to further fine tune turning. The Gamepad’s screen could be used as a rear view mirror/camera control to look around the craft. And also the obvious track screen too. This would decrease clutter on the TV so the player would only have to focus on their position, the other racers, and speed.

Metroid - Omg OOOOOHH MUH GAWD. First off we could have some normal ass controls with two joysticks. Secondly the GamePad screen could do so freaking much it’s not even funny. Basically just watch the ZombiU trailer.

Castlevaniaroid HD: WiiU- I’d love to see a follow up to Catlevania High Def err Harmony of D-something on the WiiU over any other console. The obvious reason is the second screen means better inventory management. The other reasons are that with the screen if you play by yourself you could play just on the GamePad screen and use the TV to get the full screen view of the map in real time. But more importantly we could have 2-player couch co-op for the game.

Need for Speed - Nintendo lacks a racing game with real cars so why not NFS. The Gamepad could do the same thing that it does for F-Zero plus give you car vitals like in Forza (tire pressure, temperature, damage, etc). And since the latest NFS has an open world I think you could get a great map at all times. Also customization for your car would be much easier when done on a touch screen.

Advanced Wars - This and Animal Crossing are straight up gameplay idea gold mines. AW needs a new 3DS game as well so think of this as a game available with the same features pretty much for both consoles (Animal Crossing could use a dual game too).
• Single Player: Gamepad gives you full battle management while the TV Screen will show you the full map at all times.
• Local Multiplayer for 2: One person gets the TV and the other gets the Gamepad. Or you could have co-op where you share duties. Like someone gets the Army and Air Force and the other person gets the Marines and Navy to take on the other players.
• Asynchronous Multiplayer with a mix of Local and Online: Firstly Asynchronous matches have to be short so smaller maps and probably a max of four players. You’d also have to work out details like if someone is taking too long on their turn the AI takes over and fills in for them. 3DS owners could get in on the fun too. This is the most ambitious thing the series would ever undertake and I don’t think single post on SRK is the place to discuss it but the possibilities for some great Multiplayer are there.

Armored Core - You can probably guess how gameplay would work with having the spare screen (mission objectives, map screen, radar, weapon status, armor status, etc.) but you could also take the Gamepad with you to another room (the bathroom) and work on your mech in the garage. I digs!

Any Sports Simulation Game - Plays, plays, and plays! The Gamepad is your playbook.

Best Buy is taking pre-orders.

Speaking of which, I find it extremely odd that I can get a pre-order, when last time with Wii, all pre-orders were sold out in minutes at every major retailer.

Also, what’s with Amazon NOT stocking Wii U OR 3DS?

I haven’t seen any articles on Wii U being priced and dated in mainstream media yet, so average people don’t even know it’s for pre-order.
