I’m not Personally saying he is either alive or dead (Seen many anime with those kind of ambiguous twists that can give birth to these speculations)I honestly don’t care since I enjoyed the ride of how fun it was watching the show way back. However, The creator did not “shrug his shoulders as if to say…” When he actually gave a quote saying he is not sure if he should officially kill off Spike and end the series for good or IF (and mind its a big IF) he somehow continues the series with Spike somehow surviving (Personally don’t want that unless he somehow keeps the original Cowboy Bebop feel). I know its about “using your brain…etc” in these kind of anime endings to figure it out for yourself(Cowboy Bebop is not the only anime that has done this kind of open kind of ending), however the creator did** SAY**(not shrugging his shoulders and making an ambiguous statement) he has not officially killed off Spike or officially kept Spike alive. In any case we can’t say as mere viewers/audience that IF he does keep Spike alive it would not “betray the point of the show” if the creator himself sees a valid reason to keep going with the show without betraying how the show was being presented.
Again I’m not expressing whether he is Dead or Not (I don’t care either way) I just enjoyed the show as a whole. This was just what the Creator said about this often brought up topic. The issue is not if the creator can make Spike alive with a reasonable explanation he pulls out of his ass. The real issue is if the creator SHOULD keep Spike alive and Continue the story after some time has passed. He NEVER made a decision on that stance.
The creator left it up to the viewer to decide if he lived or died. I say Spike lived since he’s been beaten, shot, cut, stabbed, blown up, etc etc and he was fine after being mummified for awhile.
Though honestly, there are good arguments on both sides to his fate.
Yeah with DeadMan Wonderland Showing the amount of potential that other shows could show up on the Adult Swim Toonami as long as their is plenty of beeps mixed in. (Their were literally no beeps in roughly the first half and I thought that this was gonna be a fairly “clean” episode, but Hummingbird Picked up the slack on the 2nd half and I think had the most beeps I heard in an episode in awhile)
I know but it just boggles my mind to why people would want him alive, it goes against his story, it takes away the epic-ness, a man is betrayed by an ally, the man was given a second chance at life, he looked for a love lost, he found her, she died, he makes amends with his friends and storms off alone, he avenges his lover, he has nothing left to live for, he doubles over feeling fulfilled.
Not getting up in a hospital going “Oh man those guys sure didn’t expect me to have fake blood packets, I sure got out of that one! lets go on an adventure hunting bounties fellas!”.
There is no reason for him to stay alive, the series shouldn’t continue and drag on, he’s dead along with the production of Bebop, like its supposed to be.
*This post has been cancelled due to an unfortunate relatable incident. Please enjoy this slideshow of boats for the time being. ^-^
In other news here is the new ToM speech with the topic on how ReRuns are a necessary evil in television. (shoutouts to Moltar). Love the “plans are in place to secure the future.” bit

Well, technically, you could argue his dreams had died and he came face to face with reality, and confirmed he is alive. Shinichiro Watanabe has also never directly stated either way, saying that it is up to interpretation.
I don’t want to see a continuation(although I do see how one could pull it off), but I’d love a spinoff detailing what happens with Ed and Ein after they leave.
Spike can’t die. He still has to get his rematch against Ed’s father. AKA the only person to 100% legit beat Spike in hand to hand combat. Seriously, you’d think Batman trained Spike with how good he is.
She went over 9000 didn’t she? I wonder if she’s gonna lose any bodyparts for not winning and also not dying? Also…Tom FTW. All night, every night.
Fuck, don’t want to wade into this one…where’s my boots.
Spike, remember the fortune teller? Then watch the ending of the credits, a star fades out. That right there signals Watanabe’s intentions. Yes, when directly asked, he dances around the subject, but I think it’s only because of the reaction he got after it aired. Spike was meant to die.
