i’m not trying to be a nay-sayer or anything of the sort, don’t get me wrong. but the problem is that the block still doesn’t meet the bare minimum for the exec’s standards.
it’s obvious that toonami would’ve beaten out Eric Andre and the new Metal. The former is a show about an unfunny mulatto doing gay shit, while the latter is a show that’s old, tired, and ready to die at any moment. even without toonami, the old ASA branding with new shows would’ve beaten the underperforming comedy regardless of the situation. but, toonami is still tailing behind the rest of [as].
the biggest problem here is that lazzo and the execs have extremely high expectations for toonami. the reason being is that it’s a revived brand that was well known in the day. the reason why the block is meeting the bare minimum is due to these couple of reasons: bad timeslots, lack of promotion, and lack of classic shows that would appeal to nostalgics.
granted, the block is still being tested at this point. the schedule won’t change anytime soon until DW and Casshew’s premiers end. but, what will happen when both shows end? will lazzo and the rest of the execs make a move to propel toonami forward, or will they gut the block because the little faith they have were disappointing with the numbers.
it’s only been one month since toonami came out, but, the block needs exceptional numbers in order to extend its longevity. the april fools night proved that the classic shows are popular. if they at least got one old show, the numbers would increase, if not tenfold, then at least by a significant margin. i wanna see this block improve, but lazzo and crofford need to get they shit together if they wanna see it imrpove too,
Toonami is gonna have FLCL replace Ghost in the Shell: Standalone complex 2nd gig when it finishes its rerun. Premiers on Toonami on August 4th.
meh personally would have preferred something more…new? However, I can see this show pulling better ratings then ghost in the shell because of how fast-paced and insane it can be. Don’t expect NEW shows to show up until later, they need to generate $$$ first
Apparently Funimation is pushing for it to show up on Adult Swim (Namely Toonami) however, nothing official has gone down yet and they only put the tags since they consider the adult swim general audience of Male 18-34 to enjoy this. I can agree with that lol…
Well there’s kind of no point in going too new at that time since it’s 2AM. They’ll probably save the more viable shows for the first two hours. When they start pulling in stronger numbers, then maybe flesh it out to the later shows.
Yea no use for premiers after 1:30. Even 1:00 is kind of pushing it. Unless they see a schedule change, expect no more than 3-2 premiers per night. I don’t see that schedule changing anytime soon either, they barely promote it. Do the big suits at adult swim think that it can be successful through word of mouth alone?
Tom doing a speech on re-runs, as well as announcing that new plans are in the works. Tom’s the guy you can never get mad at. He could punch you in the face and you’d know that you deserved it and he only wanted to help you.
