AWESOME!
I’m curious what everyone thinks about the whole badminton scandal thing. As fighting gamers, we’re usually accused of cheating or being cheap by the layman by doing whatever is necessary to win. In my opinion they were just doing what it took to win gold within the rules, yet they are now banned from the Olympics forever.
it was against the olympic spirit and olympic organizers can ban whoever they like. sucks for those teams, but i’m glad they got DQ’d. they deserved it. weak cowardly play, no one wants to watch that pathetic shit.
suck it up and play the bracket to the limit of your abilities. i expect nothing less from olympic athletes and i certainly wouldn’t be interested in watching them otherwise.
They were trying their hardest, but to win the overall tournament…not that individual game. It was part of their strategy. They aren’t there for people’s entertainment, they’re there to win gold. Would it have been different if they weren’t so obvious about it and lost on purpose after what would normally be considered a good game?
I find that shit over played. The players were well within the rules to do what they wanted. It was a little bitch move by china but not all blames should be put on them or the other teams. IOC should have arranged the seeding of the teams better. Your team waited 4 years to play for a medal to only be potentially knocked out early by our own countrymen/women. Thats like SoCal vs SoCal in the early stages of top 64 in Evo. The olympic badminton only has like 16 teams, its not rocket science make better brackets.
No, they’re there to abide by the rules and the spirit of the Olympics and the organizers of the Olympics can do whatever they like and determine whatever style of play they want. And I’m glad they’re going more towards punishing teams for weak shit like that and not towards placating whiny bitches.
Me? I would have DQ’d them and then forced them to play each other first round in 2016. Playing to win doesn’t include breaking the rules or cheating.
Motherfuckers were warned repeatedly, by the ref and the organizer. Guess they thought it was a bluff.
Morons.
The crowd booing them was just icing on the cake.
you like just pulling things from your ass?
Two things wrong with your analogy
1 -
Can you state the rules that were broken? Cheating, what like they took HGH?
2 -
That pretty much somes up the corruption of the IOC.
IOC only made a big deal of this cuz of the monetary aspect. They are worried that ppl will not watch the badminton or pay to go into badminton venues so they had to do something about that. However, when the area that was hosting the so called scandal had 60,000 seats empty they wont do shit, cuz guess what they already paid for and now they are laughing to the bank
Can you point out in the rules exactly where it says you must give every single individual game 100% ? If this were the case no team would get past their qualifiers because its idiotic to go all out in a match that will only use up resources that could be used in matches that actually matter.
According to what you say about olympic spirit, why would it bother you what the other team does, if all that matter is that you played your best and tried your best.
This ban isnt a deterrent for future similar acts. It just means that teams will have to try harder to not make it so obvious to lose. They have to fix the brackets.
What about the women’s soccer team from Japan? Their coach said don’t score a goal and play for a tie because they didn’t want to travel.
Tapatalk
Nah cuz its ok that you can pass the soccer ball around all day and not attack
Badminton has round robin pools, best 2 teams of each pool goes to top 8. China has 2 teams, #1 and #2 seed. If both seeds finished 1st in their pool, they would be placed at opposite sides in top 8 bracket, and will only play each other in grand finals.
BUT, the #2 China seed LOST IN POOLS to the lower seed Denmark team. So #2 china seed will finish 2nd in their pool, and play their #1 China teammates earlier than expected.
It’s not the fault of the IOC, the Chinese teams had a chance to be well separated in the brackets, but they lost to a lower seed Denmark team. Chinese teams deserve all the blame.
Also, even if China team sandbags, it’s absolutely stupid for Korea to do that too. All they had to do is still play seriously, and they wouldn’t have been banned. The worst thing is that TWO Korean teams copied the Chinese sandbaggers, their management is dumb.
If they sandbagged in a less obvious way, it’s possible that they wouldn’t have been banned. The Indian ( or another South Asian country ) filed a complaint saying that the Japanese team sandbagged during round robin pools, to get a better matchup in the single elim top 8.
Officials reviewed the Japan match, they said that the match indeed looked suspicious, but since they don’t have enough proof, they can’t ban Japan team.
Men or women I only got to see that one US women winning a match against someone from Hungary she hurt that Hungarian girls leg pretty good.
Sent from Hueco Mundo using Garganta Talk.
Womens soccer on friday. Britain vs Canada. I’m hype
She must of studied at Cobra Kai. (get it? Funny.)
It’s damn hard to ignore some insanely ignorant American posts here. Do you watch the news regarding the Olympics over there? Or is the American media just trying to cover up the fact it’s losing to China in this international pissing competition?
The seating issue sucked. But thousands more tickets are being released every day. At the very least please read before you scrutinise.
God damn 9/10.
we all know china’s winning overall. but we’re right on their asses for total medals.
US gives as much of a shit about the olympics as it does about the world cup.
