The Official TALES Thread (Sword Rain Alpha) - Tales of Berseria Coming!

PS3 only? :frowning:

My money is waiting.

Hmm didn’t know it was for PS3 only, I thought it’d be on 360 as well.
Oh and this game comes out a day after my b-day haha.

I can get the gist of what’s going on, but someone sub this NAO!

Some dudes take that shit too far.
If the girl don’t wanna be with you, then that’s too bad.

I though in Japan they just clubbed the girl they fancy over the head and take them home to live the rest of their lives in servitude/a sex dungeon.

  • Dressed and packed to travel to Japan *

That isn’t how it works?

DAMN IT.

This is both funny and sad at the same time.

So I finally tried out Tales of the Heroes: Twin Brave for the PSP and my initial response is that this is what those two crappy Gundam VS carbon copies that the PSP Sengoku BASARA games were mainly about should’ve been in the first place, so think of this as Tales of BASARA basically since it copies the same ā€œGet from Point A to Point Bā€ route while mowing down fodder and maintaining a high combo at the same time.

So you control one point character and have a support character that occasionally hits enemies along the way. I personally started with Cless and Chester as my default support character and you start off with two skills that are mapped almost like how Sengoku BASARA’s skill are mapped, in Cless’s case, L+O and [] is Majinken while L+X is Senkuureppa. As for controls, X is jump, O is attack, O xN is combo, /\ is support, [] is guard, []+any direction is dash, and L+R is Overdrive.

Combat system is pretty flexible, almost any part of a combo string can be cancelled into a skill or dash. So far it feels spammy, but it’s probably because i only have two skills and have yet to find out a concrete method on how Jump Cancelling works (I was able to JC Cless’s Senkuureppa on accident once, but was never able to do it again on purpose as I’m typing this).

Skills are not limited to TP but by these five crystals above your HP meter. Keep using up skills one after the other with no cool down and you won’t be able to use skills for a while.

Coming back to support attacks, press /\ to call on your partner to purposely attack once. Your support character has their own gauge alongside their HP and it’s some sort of support gauge. Calling on your partner uses up 50% of a full meter so you can use it twice in a row, but then you’ll have to wait for it to regen. There’s also a mechanic that’s like a ā€œSupport Overdriveā€ (forgot the full name) that uses up 100% of the support gauge but has your support constantly running by your side and attacking shit along the way (Weren’t they supposed to be taking initiative like this in the first place? lol)

Anyway that’s all I have to say so far. I’m having a blast with it and I can’t wait to unlock the rest of the stuff. The only thing i would say is that I wish there was as much enemies as in Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Impact and that game was able to hold at least 1000 enemies while the stages I played through was just shy of a 100 kill record. Maybe I’m being a bit too hasty for saying this since I only played the game for 30 minutes, who knows?

sup kids. who’s been playing Tales of Graces F? I’m cracked out, like 35 hours in 5 days kind of cracked out. this is actually only the second Tales game I’ve played, the first being Vesperia. the battle system is alot different, and i hate the whole not having MP thing, but you forget about stuff like that pretty quickly in this game, which imo is a lot more fun than ToV. the fact that the main character plays like a.Patroklos makes it alot more fun to me.

[details=Spoiler]

im just landed on fodres, and i have to say, one thing i havent liked is all the goddamn backtracking you have to do, you’re practically walking the span of the earth, from one city to the other, then back gain. it might have to do with the fact that they took the severely linear route of FF13, so it feels like you’re either not getting anywhere, or you’re going back and forth constantly. as for the story, it’s practically the same as ToV, at least in spirit. oh, and the way they treat sophie like shit makes me Q_Q… first she dies and THEN she got boom headshotted? T_T[/details]

Where is the sauce about Vesperia SE? Or is that header old and I’m retarded?

yea… we won’t be seeing that.

I’m loving Tales of Graces F. been a while since I’ve played a Tales game (don’t have an xbox so I couldn’t play Vesperia, though I may just import it for PS3). I’ve played them all and love the series, and this is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I’m not too far, but I did grind out until I got Chaos mode before the slime queen boss lol. Though that was more of me trying to get soul orbs to drop from all the enemies (I don’t know why I need them but I just know I will lol). So far the chaos difficulty is enough to keep me on my toes, though boss battles are insane. as for where I am

Spoiler

I just met Pascal and we left the underground ruins

Ruins and fort made me wanna chuck my ds3 through my panny… other than that, the game is awesome.

Graces f is good fun so far. Pascal and Cheria~~ :lovin:

I’m playing on hard, I am not even fucking with Evil or Chaos without other people to play with. its bad enough these AI fuckers don’t what they’re told. Slime Queen was such an asshole, i thought it was Gattuso all over again

Spoiler

then i ran into Kurt

I’m not gonna lie Slime Queen was retarded on Chaos, I went back down to Evil to beat her/it and even that wasn’t easy. Though I switched back to Chaos after because the SP gain is so sick. I had to switch back to evil for like 2 other fights so far, but it’s pretty manageable overall.

I can’t deal with Evil/Chaos bosses single player. AI is usually fine but boss fights they get 1 or 2 shotted and do the wrong things at the wrong time. Or stay back instead of backing me up so my shit combos!

I’m about to beat the game, or at least I feel like its really close. In the final dungeon I’ve been playing as Sophie/Pascal instead of Asbel for a change of pace. I wish I was doing this way sooner. It’s like a whole new game now because of it.

Man fuck this game and fuck Namco.

Worst story.
Worst dungeons.
Horrible AI.
Most linear RPG outside of FFXIII.
Sub-systems don’t make any damn sense (dualizing weapons/armor/gems is fucking retarded).
Earning new titles is an insane grind.
Carta card is retarded.
Characters are ok.

Fortunately, for me, I also purchased Tales of The Abyss a week ago. (PS2)

So I have a backup plan.
