no there’s nothing running the background. they use a “download manager” for the downloads, its a light weight program and you can close it when the download is finished.
Hmm I’ve read some bad things about Direct 2 Drive so I just ordered from Steam and its like 50% downloaded in about 15 minutes of time.
Main thing that bugged me about D2D is that people have said that updating their games downloaded from D2D was sometimes not possible. like applying a patch to a not so popular game was impossible for them because the D2D version was not the same as the regular retail version.
Another bad thing I’ve read about Direct 2 Drive is their download speeds. The fact that they aren’t allowing you to preload like Steam is will suck because it will take you like half a day to download 4 Gigs @ 200Kbp/s. Right now I’m downloading SF 4 at 2.1 MB/s from Steam’s servers.
I don’t like steam taking up memory in the background but I like being able to download the game at anytime and I have other games on my Steam account so I can always sell my account to someone if I don’t want to play these games anymore.
This CPU is fine, don’t over clock it. You could use another 512MB of ram though. Graphics card is alright, I play fine on a 6800 XT, just remember to use FIXED frame-rate in options.
Ugh, waiting for it to be unlocked on Steam is annoying
A 6800XT is way better than a 7300GS, and the 7300 series of cards are specifically singled out as not supported according to the official system requirements.
or just play with the backgrounds off, 640x480, low everything else and get a consistent 60fps like me on a shitty laptop lol
any reason why capcom thought it would be a good idea to have only HIGH and OFF for backgrounds? id like to see them but they really take a toll on the fps…
anyone have any idea when impulse is going to allow it to be dled?
Waiting for that too. Odds are tomorrow =(
hi, what can i do with my current notebook so that i can play SF IV on it decently (decent speed even if crappy image).
CPU: Intel Core2Duo @1.67 GHz
RAM: 2GB DDR2-667
Graphics: 128 MB Intel Extreme Graphics
Nothing with that gpu.
You should start a new thread in tech talk about this. I was one of the few people who would rip tracks for DC games with ADX files and having them loop. Perhaps we can all come together as my goal is to do something with the HD Remix soundtrack.
well it’s 12:01 PST steam version of sf4 aint working T_T
The Direct2Drive website released the game at 12:01am. Bought the game as a gift for my bro. Download is immediately available along-side your GFW Live CD-Key. At 2.1MB/s it should be done in no time.
Steam games generally don’t unlock until like 8-9AM PT
That would be sweet! The HDR soundtrack is infinitely better than SF4’s.
Fixed. Vega (the Spaniard) doesn’t have a theme in 4. Since ‘GKI’ references Akuma (Gouki), I think you’d figure that they were using Japanese names.
You sure?
Tryed to swap the English menu screen music with the Japanese version and it didn’t change anything? Any idea where these files are?
Cheers for finding out where the music is though.
Those are for the last fights in Survival and Time Trial modes. I know the main menu version is elsewhere, but I’m not 100% certain WHERE at the moment.
lol @ the guys waiting on steam.
I’ve had it since the 3rd =P
Anyways, I really can’t be bothered unlocking each and every character…Does anyone have a saved game they can upload?
