Metropolis Zone boss is easy mode. If you center yourself directly in the middle underneath and time your jumps just right, you can just repeatedly smash into him without hitting the orbiting blobs and get him to the final laser part, then run/jump to whatever side he moves to (while smashing any of the balloons that are in the way) and hit him one more time from underneath as he descends.
Challenge Accepted!
With Knuckles, you can’t do phase 2 of that plan. Knuckles doesn’t jump high enough. For about 4-5 hits, you either have to have very strict timing to hit the Egg-o-matic, OR you have to endure Eggman’s full attack sequence which ends with him being vulnerable for the 1 hit, then repeat.
So I fixed my Dreamcast on Friday and have been playing a lot of Sonic Adventure since.
With a lot of practice, I got a new time on Emerald Coast!
thats a pretty awesome time. I think the best I did was around 1:20.
spindash cancel was 2 good. Nice job.

this one almost works…
He needs to mix it better. The special Stage music is drowning out the vocals. I’m sure the point is to make sure you don;t hear the songs music but still. Also quite a few parts don’t fit. Over all it was alright. Not too bad.
I know I’m really late, but I’ve been playing Sonic Megamix 3.0 and I have to say it’s one of the better Sonic experiences I’ve had in a while. Great mix of speed and platforming!
Imagine if SEGA would do something similar with professional game designers…
Forgot to mention to you guys…Sonic Unleashed, Sonic & the BK, and Sonic Rush Adventure are all part of the Gamedays sale at Gamestop for new. If I’m remembering right They basically chopped off 20 bucks on Unleashed and S & the BK and I can’t quite remember what the pricing is on SRA for now. But if you were interested in Unleashed before and just didn’t want to pay full price for it then now would probably be a good time to look into it.
After playing through Sonic Unleashed (PS3), I think reviewers were all too quick to trash it due to the Werehog. While I agree that he’s still a misguided concept blatantly ripping off God of War, he does at least have some cool moves (building his abilities is key, I wonder how many reviewers actually got to this point), and though the game has some frustrating qualities overall it still has a lot going for it. A sequel with only regular Sonic play, Spin Dash added back, and some more refinements could be a good thing.
I really don’t see the need for Spin Dash in the 3D Sonics other than “it was in the 2D games, don’t get rid of it!” Other moves have pretty much replaced it (especially Boost, but to a lesser extent Homing Attack and Slide).
yeah we had already talked about how Spin Dash had been replaced earlier in the thread. It still has a place in 2d games and I still think it could be used effectively as Speed Runs from SA and SA2 clearly show but the only way I could see it actually being used currently is if you happen to run out of ‘juice’ (calling it juice for whatever they’ll be calling it amongst future titles, I.E. Surge, Boost) and there’s a 90 degree incline that you don’t have enough room to gather speed for. I doubt that will occur in any future 3d titles though.
Caught this rather interesting tidbit from GAF. Not sure if this was posted before:
Naaa, son. Flying Battery had the best music, especially act II
You shouldn’t have to put hours into a mediocre-at-best game in order to get to the good stuff. And given that almost every non-Play reviewer (and let’s be honest, Play Magazine counts for fuck all) slammed the game for many of the exact same reasons, I’d say that Unleashed is probably the pile of trash it presents itself to be.
I played the demo on 360, and the speed bits reminded me of Rush, but poorly done. This isn’t that Kaizo Mario garbage, and any game that relies on you to take damage or die from something you didn’t see coming before you can “earn” the “right” to beat a level is a game of questionable design.
What Sonic needs to get good again is for Sega to fire the incompetent development house known as Sonic Team–a studio that has made ONE good Sonic game (the original Sonic on the Genesis, and it was still outclassed by its far superior STI sequels)–and commission another developer to take over dev duties. Dimps would be the safest choice; their Sonic games are not perfect but, with the exception of the woefully bad Advance 2, they’ve all been decent at worst. However, I’d like to see Naughty Dog or Ubisoft Montreal take a stap at Sonic.
All wishful thinking, though. Sonic is one of those franchises I wish I was given 100% of the rights to. (Chrono Trigger is another, but that’s a rant for another topic.) I’d fix it, given I had the necessary resources.
Uncharted is the only Naughty Dog game I’ve ever liked. I would really rather not see them make a Sonic, specs.
I don`t get it, Remy. Naughty Dog would be perfect for the job. Crash Bandicoot was founded on “Sonic’s ass”, the Jak and Daxter series is really well done as well. They’d be perfect.
Jak & Daxter series sucks. Majorly.
Crash Bandicoot I remember playing when it was still fairly new and being demoed in stores a lot. I remember not being too impressed by it back then. Maybe I should give it another chance.
But yeah seriously, Jax & Daxter series is awful.
you mean YOU don’t like the jak and daxter series…right?
I think Naughty Dog could probably pull it off. checks something yyyup…like I thought. They made the first 3 crash games which were as far as I know the best ones of the series before switching developers. And despite what you may think about jak & daxter it’s been hailed as a pretty good series all around and scored pretty positively. If I was a company and I looked back at their portfolio of stuff that they’ve done they’d definitely be getting the thumbs up regardless of how I myself felt about their game. If at all I think they should at least deserve a shot at trying based on what they’ve been able to accomplish before…it can’t be any worse than what Sonic Team’s been doing currently now…right?
SAY WHAT!?!
I suppose you don’t like Ratchet & Clank or Sly Cooper eh?
