Nice write up Gootecks. A little bit over the top with analysis, however, it’s interesting too see how other players think about certain situations like that.
All in all, people need to quit getting off because of this Ryu. I guess I just don’t realize that people don’t have the game, so people don’t realize what combos work for Ryu.

yea i know he can. i mentioned close MP because its the only normal(with ryu) where if it hits, he can dash in and continue to combo and the op will not be able to block.
as for that ryu vid, i guess i’ll go ahead and hate too. its obvious that guy is good and has good execution but its hard to tell exactly how good he is when he’s playing against people who dont know what they’re doing. that just seemed like a combo practice session and as for combos, i didnt see anything that wasnt already mentioned in here. maybe people are just too lazy to read.

as long as you land with enough time, any time a shoryuken puts your opponent in hitstun in the air, you can juggle with ex fireball (so obviously lp is the most likely)

Oh sorry for bringing it up again my dude. I didn’t realize that he can combo close mp, SA cancel, dash in, combo. Very good to know, as I’ve been looking for a normal that he can combo his SA into and out of.
Thank you Cfay for hating with me! It’s not even really hate, it’s just that SRK kids get all uppity on very silly things. The thing is, I haven’t seen this guy do any different things that I haven’t done with my own Ryu (and I’m almost positive you can say the same C!)
I mean the dudes’ got semi good execution, and he’s beasting…but watch this guy actually PLAY. Yeah you saw him in training mode doing combos, but have any of you seen this dude actually PLAY? If you watch the other video he’s in against that Dhalsim ([media=youtube]NLvZzY51h0U[/media]), you can see that this player seems almost suicidal, and has absolutely NO GRASP of footsies or basic zoning. The dude jumps in all day, does tons of random srk’s, and even does a few wakeup dp/Ultra’s.
This player is all “rush shit down” style., hope for a knockdown and RTSD. Unfortunately, in this game zoning is half the battle as well. He’s got good execution, but this guy really isn’t as great of a player as people are making it.
EDIT: I just watched the last match where Ken wins against this amazing Ryu, by doing: c.hk up close all day. So not only does this Ryu not zone, but he gets to eager and forgets to BLOCK as well.
Yeah the vid was a little fishy. I havnt had a chance to play sf4 yet but so i was wondering if its safe to just throw out as many random SAs as the rush down ryu was doing. Im thinking a good player wouldnt let that shit fly, just how much risk is there to using a bunch of SAs in poking/random situations?
Point is…if you dont have a vid where you are shown executing like him then quiet down and watch the “SRK kids” enjoy a well executed exhibition video…if you feel you are :rolleyes:SOOOOOooo:rolleyes: much greater post a vid of “said” similiar “zoneing” skills… till then u can have a cup of stfu though.

ive played sf4 …what he did in the video is a good show of combo ability …no one is saying hes god, but he sure is showing the engine off more then 80 percent of the videos posted anywhere.

whats your idea of a good vid? a vid of someone who know how to play beating up on someone who dont know shit? sorry but i rather watch two good players go at it. even if that means turtling for 99 seconds. youve seen ryu’s in some of these japanese tourney vids, did you see any of them rush down anyone like that? a good player WILL let that guy calm his SA happy ass down real quick. if you think the SF4 engine is simply walk up guess SA into combo then i can see why youre so impressed.

Never said I was better. I said that he does things with Ryu you’re supposed to be doing (as far as combos go). And that I think it’s silly that people go crazy over it. But then again, since most people can’t play the game, it’s the first time they’ve seen this stuff. Gamechariots, livestream, game sakura inn all show just as much “engine” as this guy has.
This is ME trying to explain to people that though this Ryu has buff combos, you have to realize that this is not the entire game. You can’t expect to get as far as him based on just combos alone. It’s me trying to explain that people aren’t SEEING the flaws that this player has on why he isn’t a GREAT like Daigo or Ino.
This is a TERRIBLE video. It shows crazy combos but it doesn’t show SF4 system as far as how to PLAY this game well. That is my point good sir…and it’s very clear that you have missed it.

This video is god damn awesome screw all the haters and just take it for what it is and what it shows and that’s sick combos. This is why i’ve mained Ryu is 3s and now I’m deff maining him in SF4. Can’t wait!!! :woot:
