Uh no I don’t. I suck at UMVC3 and I didn’t pick up the game untill Ultimate. What happened?
And I’m not saying they could have completely taken out all the little mistakes, but in hindsight (and that’s easy for me to say, I know) the game and company would’ve been better off to postpone it a little. They had to be aware of all the unnecesary anti-hype. People were flaming this game for months when all they had was rumours and small builds and Capcom played right into their hands. Maybe Capcom doesn’t care, but it didn’t do the game any favors, whether this is all justified or not. And some people in this thread are making pretty valid points, both in favor of the game and against it.
There’s been unnecessary anti-hype for literally every game ever. Why would it stop a game company when they get that kind of online chat buzz all the time? It’s not about Capcom not caring, it’s about them realizing that most of the time it’s just a very vocal minority that just ends up buying their shit anyway.
Like it’s already been said, I don’t know of any fighting game to date that didn’t “need” a follow-up patch.
It kind of makes me feel sick, honestly. It’s really frustrating that everyone’s hopping on this “SFxT sucks” bandwagon even though its a perfectly respectable game. “Capcom made too many business mistakes” is not a good reason to alienate a section of the community like /we/ did something wrong.
Meh. I didn’t get to where I am in life giving up on things just because they got hard, though, and I’m going to keep playing SFxT until -I- decide I don’t want to anymore – not anyone else. If that means the only time I get to play is against people who outrageously outclass me, I guess that just means I need to get better VERY quickly.
i feel the same way man. seems like its just the cool thing to hate on this game. im sure a big reason to hate on the game is because capcom made business mistakes but that has nothing to do with the game. the only problem in this game is the time but what game doesnt have its problems. im gonna let the dust settle and i guarantee this game will rise. its just not worth arguing about right now. just wait a few months and then say “see, i told you so.” people who think this game is gonna die are delusional. i remember the same people saying the same thing about MvC3. Marvel is very well alive if you ask me.
I got an 80% winrate so I’m not ranting because I suck, but im still enjoying myself. It’s getting harder and harder to be motivated to play this game because of Assist gems, timeouts & insane dmg scaling that doesn’t reward execution. Ppl are still doing week 1 combos because there’s little reason to use switch cancel to extend. Day 1 I saw Ryu do cr.mp x2 , cr mk xx ex donkey and I’m pretty sure I’ll see still see that in the future. Abc launcher shit is so damn rewarding that ppl see little reason to learn anything else. In footsies it’s better to buffer boost combos so in the end most combos look the same. The game was lame to watch day 1 and IMO it’s gotten worse. I somehow don’t think this game will evolve much beyond using alpha counters better. I’m also starting to believe there’s more lag online due to the patch so yeah…
You realize most people haven’t stopped using Week 1-2 SSF4AE combos…? People are still using Ryu combos Valle came up with back before Super even landed…
I agree its hard to stay motivated, but I guess my reasons are different.
Have not seen anyone over there playing it. First week it was out saw some people but now those same people are back on SF4/Soul Calibur. All my usual Japanese contacts don’t seem that interested since well… no one else really is. Seen a few random videos of people playing over there but nothing consistent at the moment.
Ahem. MvC3 Akuma had an infinite on 12 characters. The post I replied to had complaints of abusable loops and broken systems. I’m just saying that infinites that are going to be patched do not destroy a game’s longevity.
