The Official Ranting Thread

If I could stick put myself inside you right now I would, that was a sexy sentence.

Rufus…

Yeah… I’ll stick with Ryu X Kazuya, thanks.

Then it shall become my new pick up line.

I hope you that bought the game are now realizing what kept the most astute of us from spending money on it in the first place…
SFxT = The end of the fighting game resurgence. Capcom tried to turn this fighting game into their Cal of Duty. They failed spectacularly.

After this Fighting games will go back to being budgeted and planned according to realistic sales numbers. Genuine fighting game fans make up the vast majority of those sales numbers. Capcom will be forced to listen to us if they want the best sales they can get. Congratulations to everyone who avoided this shit game. The community will be better off for it in the long run.

The community will be better off with a dead community and no growth…

I hate this game as much as the next guy (just ask anyone), but attracting new players is probably the most important thing to the FGC. I see no way in which a dead stagnant community makes things better.

I joined the FGC post-SF4, I doubt fighting games will die off again, Capcom has plans for SF5 (Ono said on twitter they are thinking of a new art style) but what was it like on these forums pre-SF4? How dead was it?

I didn’t say the community was dead. I said Capcom’s resurgence was. The peak was SSF4. you had the most balanced and enjoyable fighting game in history (IMHO). It was accessible yet deep and for all it’s flaws struck a great balance between the established players and the SF4 newbies. Hype was at an all time high. The downward spiral starts with Arcade Edition. Instead of listening to the community, Ono makes his own “balance patch” that basically fucks up the experience for the vast majority of players. Moving on to SFxT, every reveal after the initial game play was met with anti-hype. Pandora, Gems, Online Modes, DLC, etc. All the fanboys that defended Capcom’s decisions have been proven wrong. Hype and sales numbers are abysmal.

The community was growing. Girls tourney at EVO, web streaming hype off the charts. But now the current “new” game is getting panned and the new people that could be joining the community are bailing to other more fun experiences. This is on Capcom and no one else.

This goes beyond fighting games. Look around the web at the drama regarding DLC and what not for so many games. These large studios are about to kill this industry. I sold my fight stick and my PS3 a month or so ago. Gaming overall has lost a lot of the fun for me. A buddy traded in his SFxT last week, he’s talked about gaming less. I’m, not hating on this hobby, I’ve had a lot of fun with it. But if the publishers keep doing what they’re doing people might think the $100 plus they are paying for the “complete” game might be better spent on another hobby…

yea like wesker.

If you’re waiting for this game to die, then you’re going to be waiting for awhile. We have yet cracked the surface of things we can do in SFxT.

Flying roflcopter tatsu’s need a nerf. I say leave damage, leave the jump arc, but nerf the hurtbox and hitbox. Both Ken and Ryu are bullshit with these and honestly I feel a fair nerf would make it so they trade with more AA normals instead of beating them outright which right now they beat them all pretty much. When even Juri can’t AA normal them right with 2 AA normals, something’s wrong :stuck_out_tongue:

what? you dont like when their waist is at your head and they still cross you up or go behind your AA?

This is a ranting thread…

… Fuck ROFLcopters…

Didn’t mind the game until online. The fuckin matchups in this game are pure retarded. Hugo VS Guile ?.. honestly, what on earth can Hugo possibly do ?. Heihachi VS Rufus ? LOL… he can dive kick you all day and there is NOTHING Heihachi can do to punish. Akuma VS Ryu ?.. why on earth would anyone even pick Akuma ?, he’s just a shit version of Ryu anyway. And as for Ryu lol… well fuck him.

Not to mention the retarded cross ups, especially from what I have seen from Hworang and Ogre. Their legs honestly go about a foot over my head and I am still hit… WTF ?. They really dropped the ball on this game.

I hate how little character variety there is online. Ppl seriously went and bought sfxt to just play Ryu/Ken/Kazuya? 50% of my Matches online are against shoto teams and 30% against Ryu/Kazuya. The result of this is me being totally clueless when I get to fight something else.

That’s not just the case in SFxT, it’s the same in SSF4 where you will find 90% of the people playing Ryu. If you really love the character, be my guest, but there simply are a lot of sad sacks out there who pick him because he’s good and way too good in SFxT. Nice to know you can’t do f*** all against his standing jab and you can’t punish his LK > MK > Donkey kick > LK > fireball combo, because it’s simply not possible.

What retard at Capcom came up with the idea to give him an invincible jab, loads of non-punishable moves and the opportunity to cancel his fireball? He can just keep getting pressure on you and cancel his fireball into walk-up throw. God knows teching is near-impossible in this game.

Also, I tried a lot of the trials and the missions, and I’m getting really fed up with Dan telling me to go BUY gems and Preset combo’s because they help me clear trials and whatnot. So now on top of retarded AI, broken characters, impossible cross-ups with jump-ins hitting from behind and the character landing in front of you (Lili and Hwoarang anyone) we get spammed by Capcom telling us to spend more money on what is essentially an incomplete game. I already spent 80 euro’s on this and that’s at least 4x times what it’s worth.

I’m switching back to SSF4 and I’m simply not buying a new Capcom title anymore, period. They thoroughly fucked up on this one and they even act like they don’t care what people think. I’ll wait for the next games to buy them second hand for about 15 bucks.

End of rant, I’m done with this game…

Hmm, according to this chart, Capcom so far has only sold 500.000 units of the game worldwide, for Xbox AND PS3.

Doesn’t seem like much of a succes, let’s hope they learn their lesson (but who am I kidding?).

Usually for me theres great hype week 1. Then people find some shit, it gets more hype. Then a lull or 2 for some of the new chars, then bam, shit all over town after about 2-3 months.
This shit… is so bad, I just installed Diablo 2 on my pc because I was bored.
I really swear people go into practice mode for an hour or so and work on just tag cancels off boost crap combos, and thats it.
Turtle and toss out jabs, and the second one of them jabs hit you, Rororororraaa!
I played a Rufus/Akuma team last night. The Rufus obviously spammed dive kicks. The kicker is if I jumped and let it hit me, he wouldnt even juggle me, because he didnt know how to play. BUT if it got hit, boost to switch, akuma shoryuken juggle, tag cancel to rufus and snake strike repeat.
That’s it. When I hurt rufus and he goes to akuma, just jump back fireball.
You know something is up when its time over and all 4 characters have 60%+ health.

Vgchartz has fake sold numbers, they reported that UMVC3 sold only 30.000 copies and capcom announced that it has sold 600.000 copies

The thing is, I’m guessing loads of people with Assist Gems and bullshit teams would get eaten alive in SSF4. Coincidentally, I hardly met anyone of my SSF4 opponents in SFxT.
Lot of people told me they wouldn’t touch this game and it seems they’re the ones who were right after all.

Funny thing just occurred to me: if Capcom managed to fix the online sound issue while preserving the smooth gameplay, why the hell was this problem even in the game to begin with? It seems Capcom just doesn’t care about costumer satisfaction, emphasized by the responses they gave when this shitstorm of negativity started. Remember, that was on the day of release. I’ve honestly never seen so much anti-hype and downright contempt for a major fighting game. Even stream commentators don’t care about this game… sad :frowning:

I’m guessing that means 30.000 hardware copies, like discs. They sold well over a million MVC3 games, that probably means people bought the upgrade from the store instead of paying a whopping 40 bucks for the same game with a couple new characters on a disc.
Same thing with SF4 > SSF4 > SSF4:AE.

But it seems SFxT is seriously lagging behind in sales and I know quite a few people who have already sold their copy. Maybe Capcom doesn’t care about that, but it’s not unthinkable there might be a major backlash coming their way.
