Nothing, is just doesn’t have a huge amount of depth. It’s simply “good” as opposed to “great”.
Also, the constant patching was a good idea that kind of backfired in that regard.

This game is not fun, and it is not competitive. I sold this game.
Way to make SFxT a cash grab, and thanks for fucking your fans over on Xbox/PC for Sony. /rant
assuming that it gets patches and updates and shit, it actually could be a good game eventually. at least try it yourself. you may actually like whats currently there, and when it gets better it’ll just be a bonus
In a scenario like that it’s still better for him to wait. The game isn’t hard to learn and he can get a discount on the price which will help for DLC later.
true
Quick combos, gems, and pandora were implemented poorly. Unneccessary additions that show the devs didn’t think shit through enough. They somehow silmultaneously give both casuals and hardcore players a headache, and that’s saying something.
The Tekken cast…looks like shit compared to the SF cast. I don’t know if it done on purpose or not, but it seems like all but a select few of the Namco chars are disadvantaged. No remotely reliable anti-airs in a game where jumps are less floaty, the lack of ranged pokes where a stray s.mk can lead to a 30% combo,
Stupid shit like there only being two colors available to customize pallettes with. It’s like…what the fuck is the point of that?
The lack of stages is a minor gripe. You have TWO universes to pluck from, so why is there only like 11 stages? And half of them have terrible background music or tron-themed wooly mammoths running around. Capcom could have remade a throwback like Ken’s SF2 dock stage, or simply did their own rendition of the Moonlit Wilderness stage from T5 or something.
The DLC issue has already been beat to death, but it still makes me want to rage. I respect people’s opinions on how Capcom only advertised the initial roster and nothing more, but it’s still a shady business strategy. Nobody really gives a fuck about Vita, and after being exposed by hackers it would have been better if they had simply announced that the 12 DLC were unlockables rather than downloadables. Shit, I hardly even want to touch this game because I know I have to wait at least 6 months just to play three characters THAT ARE ALREADY THERE. There’s really no incentive for me not to hack, really.
What bothers me most is the fact I keep buying these Capcom games moreso for the fact they’re what get the most play, not necessarily what I enjoy (both vanilla SF4 and vanilla Marvel are fucking trash with their successors being slightly less annoying). With SFxTK, I had high hopes that it would be both popular yet wouldn’t make feel like I was forcing myself to like it. Now that’s it out, I can honestly say my perception of the game has soured. Granted, this game can be fun when it’s 4 people playing teams but aside from that this game is pretty lukewarm effort IMO.
No one is forcing you to buy Capcom games.
Unless you’re a masochist yourself - since you don’t even enjoy the games lol
Where is the gimp suit smiley when I need it
This game has made me fall out of love with fighting games; I haven’t played in weeks, and I’m unfollowing the FGC on Twitter (Spooky, Level Up, IPW, etc.). It won’t kill my interest for good, but I need a break, as anyone who has read my posts on this game will probably understand.
Or you could just try playing a good game instead of throwing your toys out of the pram because the latest big Capcom game sucks (as if that’s anything new).
I’m sure I will, but everyone has a breaking point, and Capcom found it for a lot of people.
MK9 day 1 was broken as fuck but people refused to accept it. They didn’t understand why a safe on block shoryuken that lead into 50% damage was broken. They didn’t have a problem with block infinites until it happened to them and they realized they couldn’t do shit to escape them.
MK9 was always a good fighting game but it was patching that turned it into a tournament worthy game (pre-patch it was just a mess and kinda sad/shameful to watch). NRS removed all infinites, fixed most glitches and did some typical nerfing/buffing.
SFxTK is pretty buggy right now, but it still has a better training mode and netcode than MK9 so people shouldn’t completely shun this game. It’s a great game once you actually understand how to play (or rather, how to beat certain tactics).
I was about to say that NRS didn’t do any major gameplay/mechanic changes but I just remembered that’s not true: They did change two significant things: 1. they made wake up attacks more invincible to prevent them from being stuffed all the time. 2. They nerfed the dashes which really hurt a few characters and made zoning stronger as a result.
Like I said, even in it’s current state the game is good and it will only get better.
Never said anybody was forcing me and I know I have no one else to blame for it. It’s just that anything that doesn’t have the Capcom label on the front of the case doesn’t have as dedicated of a scene where I’m living at.
Guess I just need to start searching more…
Just a few personal issues.
-I hate how 99% of the fucking time I play online, it’s a damn Ryu and Ken fiesta. I understand that they’re icons and all but is it too much to ask for a little variety?
-I also hate how many of the Ryu/Ken teams-as well as a number of others-love to just troll with their cr.HKs. Sure, you can just block it and all, but it’s extremely annoying seeing people rely on that.
-The ranking system. If I’m down at 600 BP and choose ‘Same Rank’, I don’t want to fight people with around 2000 BP. Some may argue that numbers don’t matter and it’s occasionally true, but if a person is at 2000 BP and you’re struggling to keep 600 BP or so. It’s very likely you’re outmatched.
-Less the game’s fault and is more mine, but my inability to figure out how to space myself and how to get a hit in. I can learn as many combos as I like, simple or complex, but it won’t make a difference if I can’t get in or get past a cr.LP.
-Again most likely my fault, but when I’m holding down-back to block, I often get hit by crouching attacks regardless. Though it could have something to do with this diagonal input issue I hear about every now and then.
training mode and that button checks take so long. I love mk but playing it in a local tournament was a very frustrating experience.
dude where the HELL IS THE FRIGGIN COSTUME DLC THAT WAS PROMISED APRIL 3? its nowhere to be found
:lp::mp::hp:blocked:lp::mp::hp:blocked**jump over:lp::mp::hp:overhead:lp::mp::hp:blocked etc…
Yeah, it’s old. But I still have a hard time finding someone not doing this over and over when I’m just trying to play two or three matches online in the evening.
Oh, and if they get in and land a hit, the do a long, long combo, tag out, continue the combo, tag out, continue the combo even more which doesn’t even do anymore damage because of the damage scaling. *BUT *it takes forever.
That’s a fair point. I find claims about “lack of depth” extremely nebulous though.
nobodys falt but my own , but im free as hell to counter moves being mashed when im trying to rush down it will happen like 3 times in one round before i go “oh right”
Whoever designed the UI/UX flow should be fired.
