The Official Ranting Thread

I still can’t figure out Kazuya’s block strings. And he’s usually safe after most of them, smh.

After playing this game for a whole week these are the things I have issue with

  • I’m not fond of how weak AAs are. Not a huge issue with me as mains have reliable AAs (expect Kuma) but it still sucks. I feel can’t do anything but block when someone does a close jump-in. I use cross arts if have the bars but it sucks to have to waste all that meter to get a use AA in that position. Buff this shit.

  • As pad player, a single motion + 3xP or 3xK for supers is annoying as hell. I usually use the those shoulder buttons for EX moves but I can’t do that for chargeable specials as I end up getting a super instead. Even worse is that button config doesn’t allow for :lp:+:mp:, :lk:+:mk: to be a single button. Fucking bullshit

  • While I don’t have an issue with the gem effects as most others do but I do take expectation to the fact it sometimes masks the glow that happens when an EX is performed. If I have a power gem activated and do an EX I honestly won’t be able to tell if the EX went through.

  • No option to disable quick combos. In turn, being able to disable input shortcuts being a DLC gem

  • Allowing 2v1 to be played in ranked.

Otherwise, I’m enjoying my time with the game

Game is still new…not blowing a gasket over it.
However…
-2v1 online-
If the solo player wins, that player deserves double BP.
-Gem color activation-
I have more than two brain cells, I can see by the meter when a gem activates, I don’t need my character to glow (I actually like the character art)
Giving us the option to customize our favorite characters color schemes and then toning them away for a large portion of the match with flashing colors seems counter productive to me.

Remember in SFIV how scrubs were able to win using flowchart Ken?

Remember in SSFIV how scrubs were able to win using flowchart Ryu?

Remember in SFxT how scrubs were able to win using flowchart Ryu and Ken? 2 scrubby characters for the price of 1!

My favorite, DP cross DP cross EX DP. Brilliant.

steve no, jins i wouldnt even count considering u have to have the right placement to actually counter another projectile. Raven yes.

where are the fucking colors?!

Steve’s hellfire is a projectile. It’s like Dan’s Gadouken but better. Functionally of Jin’s projectile doesn’t stop it from being one. It’s just different from your typical hadoken

100% with you on all of this! I’m feeling the exact same way and trying to adapt to the BS but I can’t deny this game is fun as hell!

While I recognize the flaws of SFxT, I’m having too much fun due to the roster. I also really like how Akuma feels in this, 'been having fun learning setups, combos, and so forth. And honestly, I’m just thrilled that there’s something other than SF4 now (hated that game).

Still gotta get KOF, Blazblue, and SC5 eventually.

yes i’m still mad that the best frame trap in the game is to mindlessly keep hitting your jab button until good things happened

This, so much.

Well, I started playing with Ryu/Ogre…And I feel like Ogre is either OP, or people have no idea how to approach him. I fought a C+ Rolento/Lili and it was really one-sided. Because I could keep him out of my face and then rush him down when I felt like it. There was a point where I perfected him too. I mean, I actually felt obligated to send him a message telling him “sorry” because I exploited Ogre the whole match since he couldn’t really do anything. But his Rolento did have me on the run for a bit.

And that’s another thing. I hate Rolento. I always seem to get caught by his damn slide and then I get caught in a corner to be combo’d into oblivion. But good thing I had Ogre.

fuck zangief. that’s all i have to say.

Anyone complaining about throws right now;

Consider cr.mk xx Hadouken (charge) dash in throw. Better yet, apply this to command grabs.

Throws are only ‘bad’ because you’re still trying to use them like they’re SF4 grabs, which they are not. This is a completely different game with completely different rules.

why would anyone press buttons?

stop it. throws are trash. the fireball dash thing will stop working after people get used to seeing it

Honestly this will start getting blown up soon with Alpha counters and raw launchers to crush lows. Its just a matter of time…

You talk as if throwing is the only option you get after a charge dash cancel.

just let ya know st.jab can stop launchers but it will work on cr and alpha counters is rather hard to punish jabs with it. yes alpha counters can stop jabs but it still a huge risk and having to use one bar sucks.

So after playing sfxt for about a week now. I feel like the game has been rushed as far aesthetics go. The character select screen looks horrible. some stages looked like they were rushed in development. the menu screens look ugly. Ogre holding the world in his hand for the network menu screen just looks like lack of effort in making that screen look attractive or pretty. The overall graphics are not great but they are not horrible either. Alot of people complain about online issues and I can understand their frustration. Random sound drops and a “choppy” animation online isn’t very fun but luckily for me it has low negative effect on my “game”.

The game is still fun to play for casual gamers. For those of you who are surprised this game is noob friendly shouldn’t be. It was clearly stated in many previews of the game before release that it will allow new players to compete with moderate to higher level gamers or at least give noobs such as myself a fighting chance to win. Does this hurt the game in the long run? That is for the sfxt community to decide.
