The Official Ranting Thread

If however you still can play vs these dlc characters without you buying them in sf x tk then i see no problem and letting you chose custom costumes.

the training mode menu pisses me off in the extreme.

whos idiot idea was it to make it 2 different buttons to navigate left and right? stupid. not everyone plays on pad with left and right shoulder buttons. then to top it all off the menu interface gets even worse cause when im trying out new moves on new characters i have to go to command list (scroll with rb and lb) then i have to choose what command menu i want to see.

HOW ABOUT THE CHARACTER IM USING? sure once in a blue moon i may want to see a command list for a different character than the one i currently have control of, but to make me pick the character that im already using is beyond dumb and slows down the process of >pause>command list>pick character> navigate through the character menus to select unique attack> scroll down to attack i want to see> memorize attack sequence> BACK OUT GOING BACKWARDS…ffs.

in soul calibur i can run through a characters entire movelist in 3 minutes or less while actually seeing all the moves since there is a demo button that does the move for you… but in this game i have to go through all these laggy menus.

shit is SUPREMELY ANNOYING the amount of time i waste navigating these absurd menus.

and also, of course the button config is retarded AS ALWAYS.

they need to fucking fire the people in charge of the UI.

one good thing about t-mode though is that the record function lasts more than 10 seconds and there is a countdown timer letting you know where you are in in the recordings loop… thats smart.

but its like the only thing and it will n doubt be gone in the next revision/new game cause capcom cant stick to the shit that actually works.

Sounds like you’re just a bit impatient, friend. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, any of you guys fight that guy who talks trash the entire match yet? Well, I definitely did this morning. He also had a partner to support his trash-talking.

First thing he starts with is insulting my BP and characters before the match starts. (Juri and Hugo, I don’t usually play Hugo. because I actually prefer Zangief when it comes to big grappling-types and I was D+ with 100 BP because I was having a bad losing streak the other day. which ended with my internet disconnecting leading to even more BP loss).

So ANYWAY. The match starts, and he already starts complaining because I had Hugo, even though I’m terrible with Hugo. And he kinda just did that juggling knee to throw-combo with King, and he kept getting me with it because I haven’t run into many Kings. So I don’t know how to approach him without getting knee-juggled, especially with a character like Hugo. So I switch out to Juri for a bit, and when Hugo’s life is back up to a safe level. I do an EX senpusha, switch out to Hugo and then use back breaker. And this is really what annoyed me. he says something along the lines of this: “Oh, you think you know combos or some shit now because you can do that? EVERY HUGO DOES THAT.” And he continues to rant about how much of a scrub I am for using it until the end of the match. Which he still won.

I really hate when fighting games attract these kinds of people. I mean, I’m not the best player. But it was pretty damn annoying to hear “oh u such a scrub” whenever I landed a grab with Hugo.

Don’t worry about it, dudes like that have pretty shitty lives and have to take it out on people to feel like a toughguy.

Well I guess most of you complaining about most of this stuff will be weeded out for the rest of us to compete…considering this is week one (for those unlucky to get it a week earlier) and everyone’s still trying to get a grasp on the game and learn the timing and mechanics obviously most of you make it clear to me that brainwashing still exist in 2012 and it’s easier to join the lynch mob than having your own opinions

I only have 2 complaints, really.

  1. DLC needs to be released SOON. VERY SOON. I want my diaper Akuma!
  2. They need to patch in an option to turn off the timer in endless battle. Or is it there already and I just missed it?

I hate how SF characters are given better normals and I hate how anti-air sucks. Most Tekken characters are given a little or no anti-air moves and slow normals, its not even funny how easy they get mauled by people going jumping every where once they are on the defensive. I mean how the fuck a up close fighter like Steve do anything against a character like Ryu who has a 3 frame normal and a DP with his mighty 6 frame jab?! Did I mention most Tekken chains ends with a negative regardless where you stop…these lot are asking to get DPed by SF characters all day long.

Yeah the menus also sucks, especially the training mode menu. DLC sucks. There are a lot of things I don’t like about this game right now.

Would you feel that SFxT was more “complete” if Ogre and Akuma were required to unlock in order to play?

Unlockable content =/= a complete or polished game.

Lastly, what is your definition of “complete”? You think SFxT isn’t complete just because they’re already making/have made new characters? You don’t think Alpha II characters were in development by the time Alpha launched, or shortly thereafter? You don’t think some had already been made?

Just because a company adds DLC to a game, that doesn’t make the game incomplete.

that one guy on your friends list who plays nothing but boss characters

I’m honestly kind of tired of hearing people spout shit about the game. Yes the game has it’s faults and yes Capcom is really fucking up with the DLC crap, but you can’t go around saying outrageous things like “this game fuckin sucks” and whatnot, when you know it doesn’t. The one thing I hate this game is the netcode. I have pretty good internet so I don’t feel it as much as you guys, but I feel like the netcode is worse than SF4’s. People complaining about that kind of stuff, that’s just fine. I understand what they are saying. But it’s just people who pay so much attention to the small details that they can’t see the big picture that bug me.

My gripe with the training menu is the annoyance of having to see my characters command list. In KOF XIII, I can switch the select button to multiple things. Can’t do that in SFxT. Nope. Gotta pause, go the command list, then select my character, then the menu pops up. This may not be as bad if you’re playing a SF character? But a Tekken character? It’s always annoying. I just want ease of access to my command list. Capcom has been in the game for so long and still can’t get that right.

Not to mention regarding trials, you can’t even view the trial to see how it’s done. Is it too much to ask for? You want your game easy to pick up and play. Accessible you call it. But it’s “accessible” to not see the trial at hand? It’s “accessible” to not have a shortcut to a command list?

Honestly, I won’t call the game trash. I haven’t played it enough and I’ve seen some badass combos. I want to get those down. Unless I know how to play, I won’t have any fun. I don 't like gems but since they’re in the game, I’m gonna use them. Gonna find the best combination I can.

Dude, fuck whoever thought this 2 vs 1 bullshit in ranked was a good idea.

Getting demolished in a handicap match against two people is fucking retarded. I’m free enough in 1v1.

No R.Mika WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF No Karin WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF Dhalsim… To be fair most of this game is pretty good except the character choices on the Street Fighter side.

Dude, they’re blatantly dicking the consumer as hard as the can. The are deliberately withholding as much already completed content as they can to milk and nickel and dime the consumer. They are deliberately making the product WORSE and INCOMPLETE, just so they can ride the consumer as hard as they can. Look at the colour edit mode for god’s sake… it’s easily and deliberately the worst edit mode in fighting game history. I mean how hard is it to add “blue”, or “red”, seriously.

When it only affected aesthetic stuff, people didn’t mind too much, but this affects gameplay and it’s gotten to a point where it’s just too much and frankly insulting as a consumer, and a gamer. What’s even worse is that we have to continue to wait for content we already have in our hands to be sold to us piece by piece, so even if we DID want to throw all our money at them, they still string us along for months. If you want to compare it to buying other products with upgrades, like a car or something, you are normally allowed to splurge on those when you make your purchase, not so with Capcom.

If you can’t understand why people don’t like it… then I don’t know what to say.

Imagine if the MAJORITY of characters were DLC… Imagine if you had to pay an extra $2 to unlock your jab button. It’s getting pretty stupid.

  1. colors will be free, stop complaining.
  2. I’ve already explained countless times why you’re getting charged extra for stuff on the disc. If you can’t understand it by now, I dont know what to say.
  3. How long have you been playing SF? You do realize that they’ve been updating every fighting game they’ve ever released for the last 20 years with multiple editions. If you’re complaining about constant add-ons by now, you’re either A) in denial…or B) a glutton for punishment

No wonder all the smart people stopped posting.

  1. I hope so, and they could’ve eaily included them now anyway.
  2. It’s convenience I know, it also helps nickel and dime the consumer. At least let us purchase what is already on-disc and working NOW.
  3. way to miss the point bro, this isn’t about add-ons, this is about people getting a different gaming experience based on how much money you spend, and the trend towards turning every little thing into a way to nickel and dime the consumer… Basically holding every feature possible for ransom. Yes capcom released other versions of the games, as sequels, which were complete products that everyone purchased the same copy of. So really, your analogy is a terrible one.

Try again bro!

Nos, I could rip that response to shreds, but I have learned that there is no hope for you. Have a nice day.

Like everyone, i’m hating on the dlc.
There is little to no proof that the dlc content “got extra-budget, extra developping time”. For big blockbuster games like this, a huge part of the budget actually go to advertizing so…there’s that.
Capcom is here to make a profit, good for it. Still, as a gamer, and like most of the people of srk kind of a “loyal” gamer (ie playing lot of capcom games) i feel insulted by this. Really, even if legally i dont own the data on the blu-ray/DVD i bougt, i still love to at least feel like i do.
This does not concern FG but a game “life” is much shorter now, most of the action/plateforming game can be 100%ed wayyyy faster than even PS2 gen games, and the prolonged experience through paying dlc is sooo much of an insult in this regard.
But FG lifespan is extended by improving on the player own skill so this type of DLC is not relevant in this regard.
STILL. It feel bad to not have access to the entierity of the game knowing that the “full game” (I.E. everything on the disc) will cost wayyy more than 60$ with the usual PSN/Xbox price (that are not entierely capcom decision) for 8 characters at 5$ a go, it’ll be 100$ for the full game…

The reason this only exists in Tekken and SC games is because Namco has a patent for it believe it or not. I’m pretty sure they also have a patent on minigames during loading screens.

The back of the box says 38 characters and that’s how many I got. They never promised you any of those other ones so quit feeling so entitled. It’s better that the characters are on disc so the people who don’t buy them don’t have to download anything extra to see them. DLC characters done the other way completely wrecked MK online. Now they can sell you stuff without splitting the userbase.

Don’t get me wrong, it would be real cool if we got them for free but that’s not the way Capcom operates.

They know this game isn’t going to sell as well as CoD or Halo so they need to make as much money as they can from their dedicated followers so that they can keep making games for the fans.
