The Official Ranting Thread

And PC gets nothing.

Hard to really support fighting games for PCs when Capcom still pull this off. The reward for waiting better be a good one. :arazz:

Also screw sony moneyhats. Jesus christ.

honestly Capcom is like the only one really putting out FG’s on PC…o_O I don’t see Namco making a desperate attempt to put Tekken or Soul Calibur on it. The PC version was going to be left hanging until they pacified the console owners first anyways, I don’t see this coming as a huge surprise. I support equality sure, i dont think any platform this game should be done dirty however PC had their own share of problems too and i shouldn’t have to bring those up.

Namco Bandai don’t like PC money in general.

Shame really cause I’d buy Tekken 6 BR on the PC in half a second just to see what 8xAA 16xAF 1920x1080 resolution looks like.

Harada did mention that If he was given the chance he would make a PC port too and the fact he was also a major PC gamer but eh… Bamco

Well there was that Blazblue game, but the execution of that was really freaking stupid, plus folks could still play Guilty Gear on PC… And there is also that NRS gauging for a PC release too which I hope is successful. GGPO, MUGEN also have a major following too, just got to start treating customers equally/fairly.

Skullgirls on the way potentially.
Melty Blood is on PC (every version of MB)
Mortal Kombat Kollection came out on steam not long ago.
Blazblue: Calamity Trigger came out on PC

Capcom released SF4AE and has SFxT coming.

Capcom hardly has a monopoly on the PC fighting game scene. They are just the largest company putting fighters on PC. The rest are comparitively small.

They invented it, evolved it, and they’re revolutionizing it now.

aside from Skullgirls, i dont see many talking about the previously mentioned(Melty blood is a different story altogether). Capcom is a larger company then some(Skullgirs is indie but its published by Konami and they are Big), but the point i was trying to make was, there are not enough support(demand) for FG on PC platform. Sega and SNK are smaller companies so its understandable why they dont go to PC, but Namco seem like they could. Tekken was Sony exclusive for a while(despite that GBA game) but now is on 360. Its not too far off to see a PC port.

im just stating why is there a lack of support, why are they avoiding PC? my hunch is this. As we get closer to the fully digital age, then games will be for everything even iOS and Android.

You can tell the want is there.

But the support hmmmm…

I used to be excited for this game, until I realized how few new street fighters we were seeing from SSF4. I went to Ask Capcom and posted my thoughts.
Not that I’m expecting an answer
http://www.capcom-unity.com/ask_capcom/go/thread/view/7371/28940613/Why_were_there_so_many_SSF4_characters_in_SFXTK
And if you don’t want to hit the link (For whatever reason)

[details=Spoiler]I used to be really excited for this game. The Gem system looked really interesting. My mind works on percentages and fractions, so I understood how subtely they would actually effect the game (At least once they brought it down to three gems). I liked the tag mechanic. I liked the Cross Arts. Hell, I even, as a diehard Megaman fan, could see the humor in him. I’m using the 360, so I’m missing out on 4 characters, with no console exclusive anything, but I didn’t care. This game was awesome, and nothing could take that away.

Then the “final” characters were revealed. And then the 12 new characters were announced. And then I realized something: we only have three characters who weren’t in the latest Street Fighter game (SSF4:AE; UMvC3 is it’s own thing), Hugo, Poison, and Rolento, with only one more character coming, Elena. That’s 4 out of 25. A 4:21 ratio. Only 19.047619047%. And that’s only counting SF side, not the entire cast (4 of 55, 4:51, 7.272727273%).

Now, I love the SF4 series more than the next guy, I’ve been playing it constantly since 08 and have preordered the special edition of every iteration (I have three SFIV games in my house), but, I mean… I kinda wanted to see some new faces. And It’s not like there was a lack of characters, there were plenty of other people that could have been put in.

Just some example teams.
Sakura and Sean(Get rid of Blanka).
Abel and Charlie (Get rid of Guile).
Karin and R.Mika.
Rose and Ingrid.
Maki and Sodom.
Eagle and Birdie.
Alex and Remy.
Twelve and Urien.
Oro and Akuma.
Necro and Q.

We have only one all new team (Hugo and Poison), and two SSF4 and new teams (Rolento and Ibuki, Elena and Dudley). Not that anything can happen now, I just want to know: why did you guys just rip the vast majority of the SF cast right out of SSF4? I know the characters have different backround games, either SFII, or Alpha, or what have you, but still. I’ve been playing as ALL of these characters in your latest Street Fighter, as I have been for the past 4 years.

I was really hyped for the game, and while I know there’s a whole other half of characters I can play from Tekken, the 6 new SF characters made me realize how little new I’m actually seeing. And I remember being promised that we would be seeing some faces we hadn’t seen in a while… I didn’t think less than 1/6th (less than 1/14th) constituted as some, I thought we’d at least get twice that. In a vacuum gems are the best thing ever. But in a world where other fighting games exist, this is a worse mechanic.
Not as interesting, not as deep, as what other games in the past has offered.
When someone says gems suck ass, he means in relation to what the rest of the games in the genre offer.
If you want to defend gems, prove that they are better than Arcanas, Chaos Breaker items, Grooves, Moons and other whatever customization options that exist. (And all of them did not demand to pay more money to be used BTW, and with that, did not support the horrible “pay to win” approach.)

And to make it easier for you to understand I took more obvious examples, when in reality customization also means picking a specific character over the other, and playing that character in a unique way, which is something that was present in fighting games since the SF2 days.

There are more gems than arcanas, grooves, and moons put together. That said, quantity =/= quality. Also as for customization being “picking a specific character” that doesn’t fix the mirror matchup issue.

Other than those 2 things I agree with you however. Arcanas and Grooves did similar things to gems and did it much more streamlined and no “premium” content. Plus they fully change the entire match instead of being these game inside of a game thing where you need to do X things to activate a gem which is then only useful for a limited time.

They could fix everything with exclusive gems if they just realeased everything dlc for free like they’re doing with colors, but later. So pre-ordering just got you whatever gems at launch, and everyone else gets the gems slowly, every 5 or 6 weeks giving 5 gems.

Those gems don’t change the character enough to make a difference anyway. If you hate mirror matches so much, make the roster more interesting and balanced and people will naturally spread out to playing different characters.

Just replace “canada” with “capcom”

I can agree with not wanting a pay to win situation from happening sure…thats about it. I can roll my eyes in the back of my head everytime I see “gems don’t add depth” quote. Seriously are you done? because you been spreading that around SRK like the plague. you bring up Arcana’s and Groves…Obvious sub systems that “changes the characters abilities” then compare them to Gems that don’t they modify the parameters of a character for a duration of time. they are not the same thing, and before you even dare to say “thats why gems are useless” think about this.

If Gems increase the stats of a character for a set amount of time, that effects the character im i right? so by deduction, that increase of whatever stats the character has right? like a power up in a RPG or Action game, it changes how play…whether or not you want to admit this thats up to you but guess what? That’s Depth…It’s not rocket science. If Mike Tyson’s PunchOut, A simplistic boxing game with 2 buttons and a D-pad/Joystick have “Depth” then the Gem System alone has depth. Quit trying to justify other systems because they give characters new ablities or drastically change how they play, as “depth”.

This is exactly what im talking about…people don’t know the meaning of depth anymore.

Im sure the user Smashbros can relate to me when I say this because ironically most people say that SSB doesn’t have depth…yet there are tons of things people have done and figured out during the course of those games life span…to say it doesn’t have depth is to say SF3 is the perfection of balance…Lolz.

I have been watching cross assault, and I can tell I won’t be getting the game already, and it’s got nothing to do with whether it is a good game to play. I don’t care that it looks ridiculously similar in art direction to SF4, I don’t care that the gem activations make the characters look like they have either been placed in fruit coloured condoms or that they have been dipped in quick setting jello. I don’t mind that gems are a ridiculous addition because they are either completely pointless or totally overpowered, and that any middle ground is never going to happen.

The reason I’m not going to play the game, is because it makes me nauseous. Some of the stages have moving backgrounds that make me travel sick, the one that comes to mind is the one where a giant mamoth is chasing two hovercrafts. There is no way I can watch that, or play on it, without feeling sick within 30 seconds. This is all amplified by the absolutely TERRIBLE background music, which is a cross between fairground music played at 10 speed and listening to terrible eurotechnotrance whilst tripping on acid.

I cannot play this game. I find it physically repellent.

That’s some fairly intense motion sickness, how do you manage to play racing games?

I don’t play racing games, but what really gets me (and presumably other people) motion sick is when you are concentrating your vision on something in the foreground and there is all the sensation that you are moving in the background. This is why many people find reading a book in the car impossible. If I was just looking at the background animation I wouldn’t feel sick.

Oh, I see. Couldn’t you just ask to pick, say, training stage, before your match starts?

wtffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff You did not understand a thing from my post.
