That would break him, too. Not as badly. Changing cr.mp would break his whiff punish game, all of his combos, basically everything he can do.

nj hk is his only true aa in this game and its strength is currently being severely overstated.

Even when used properly, it will be beaten clean by many attacks (Mishima kicks, juggle strongs, more)

It requires a reactionary jump, too. A read on one of his pokes makes that impossible. locking him down makes it impossible. There are plenty of ways to defeat it.

get rid of Pandora 4f delay…like seriously. That shit is uncalled for…can’t even use it against peaty attacks…like fuck off…seriously.

I’m sure you’re joking when you say he can’t back dash, seeing how that’s a strong back dash + he has invincible somersaults. Also, his cr. MP is 4 frames. His crouching MEDIUM PUNCH is as fast as Ryu’s crouching JAB. I’m sure he has good options up close. It’s called “Slam dem buttons”. Just like Chun, or Jin, or Nina, or whoever else. >_>

I know I have issues getting in, but I find it ridiculous that he can just slap on his punch buttons all day while you’re unable to do anything about it, even if he does boost chains. Even if you get in, he’s hella mobile, so it’s not that hard for him to get out of range again. That’s assuming you even got in to begin with.

What I’m trying to say is that his boost chain should be altered so that if it’s blocked, even if it’s still safe, he should be put on defense. He’s one of the few characters where this isn’t the case.

As much as I may be overstating it, I feel you’re understating it. Ways? Fine. PLENTY ways? Not buying it. >_>

Ryu’s crouching jab is 3 frames though. =(

But I feel your pain I’ve always hate Vega since SF2 and in sf4 h’s always talking smack and calling me an ugly rose, and I play Rose as a main so it’s twice as insulting.

Eh, there’s that, but that’s only gonna get so far. Crouching attacks have more push back than standing ones in most instances. You do two or three, and then you’ll need his cr. MK, which has 6 frames of start up.

I’m sorry, dude. You just need to do your homework regarding Vega. He cannot slam dem buttons anywhere. That statement flies in the face of what it means to truly play him. Vega has zero 3 frame moves and up close is prone to getting counterhit when pressing buttons without frame advantage, period. His jabs are also one frame links, so to get any significant damage he must hit multiple one frame links. Hardly “slamming.”

Once you’re in, he’s dead. His mobility becomes irrelevant. You can lock him down in frane disadvantage and keep the pressure on indefinitely because he has no 3 frane moves or any reversals at all.

His flips give you trouble? They are TERRIBLE. They’re option select bait, ppp flip is punishable without even giving it any thought, kkk flip even without a read is as well under most circumstances. Also, they aren’t reversable. Meaning you cannot avoid meaties with them

His backdash is also easy to os. It’s generally unusable as a wakeup option.

Slapping his punch buttons. Your only complaint that doesn’t come from something you yourself can change and overcome with knowledge and skill is blindly bosting safely.

To start? I don’t like that either! He and Bison can, and Vega tends to be relegated to doing this in many matchups because it safely returns him to the neutral game on a poke attempt.

It isn’t the greatest design by any means. Dumb, sure. Op…?

Maybe if it literally wasn’t all he had. A heavily scaled low damage hit confirm that, when blocked, resets the situation to neutral on a character more fragile than glass. Ok. Whatever. Might be annoying.

I find relentless, safe, looping pressure strings with high lows mixed in leading to 500+ damage on a hit and a knockdown to retain advantage after the fact more annoying.

Maybe it’s a me thing.

Only character in the game who has all of that more or less is Asuka and if she manages to get anywhere near a character like Vega then she pretty much deserves all that BS, and to a lesser extent Hwoarang (has to spend meter to get 400ish damage and the only overhead which is threatening is his f+mk) who is indeed a bit too ‘pressuring’ with his flamingo cancels putting him + on block after self hitconfirming pressure strings, and even if you alpha counter him he has a great neutral game much unlike Asuka.

Also penguin, Vega is more or less free to jump ins, of course you cant jump in on him like a dumbass, just like you cant jump in on Bison like a dumbass, because they have very good air to airs which lead to respectable damage (Bison gets 330ish meterless, 400+ with 1 meter and the right partner, and 480ish with 2 bars burnt for super), dont know much about Vega’s damage from nj.hk), but if you play some footsies and they whiff one of their footsie normals at the wrong time then you get a free jump in which they can’t anti air and if you’re lucky cant even block, more or less like with Hwoarangs sweep.

Nina, Jin, Kazuya, Hatchi, Cammy and more can all keep relentless pressure on Vega once they touch him.

I absolutely hate UMVC3 On the PS3. I literally played a game where a Virgil kept doing teleport helm breaker over and over till it hit while I was blocking. He did it 4-5 times till it actually it.

UMVC3 on PS3 = Character with bigger hit box normals wins, People who play Lame also win.

None of them have safe pressure strings with high lows mixed in which lead to 500+ damage except Hei (then again 500 damage is only with 2 bars of meter thrown in there). Kaz has the 500 damage part covered, Jin has safe strings covered, and Cammy has jabs to boost and throws to annoy you but none of them have all of it at once. I agree Nina is pretty bullshit considering she has an unblockable ‘command grab’ which can be special cancelled from cr.mk, an overhead which catches backdashes and can lead to big damage, and 400+ damage on her BnBs lol

Also unless they read your backdash, OS sweep and OSing other backdash ‘catching’ moves doesnt really work in this game due to the boost combo system, so unless you think they are going for a move which will catch your backdash, you can pretty easily just do that.

I’ve said enough about Vega for now, though. Lost the motivation to succinctly deconstruct all these claims a while ago.

Don’t get it what’s to hate about the gem system. Not liking a damage/meter/life/speed boost? Pff, who needs that right?

What does sucks are the DLC ones. It gave the system the “pay to win” stigma when you’re perfectly fine with the ones you get with the game. Some of them are a tad too good (speaking of the DLC meter gems). They need to bundle them all into one pack aswell. I can only imagine how annoying it must be for people who get the game at this moment having to download pack after pack after pack (the free samples)…

To say the least, gems could have been handled better.

Conceptually they’re interesting, fair and fun, though.
