The Official Ranting Thread

It all depends on luck for me, sometimes I can even have the search requirements on same rank and it only takes me about 5-10 seconds to find somebody, and then there’s endless, where if I set it to look ANYWHERE I can only see the same 8 lobbies. -__-

Online DP tagging, that is all >_>

Just had my first ranked match today, and my damn hands are shaking again! Seriously, I think this is already bordering on phobia. This stupid anxiety has to stop! :arazz:

I really need to overcome this hurdle. -_-

Take this into consideration.

When it comes to online play(Casuals)

When you win what do you actually win? When you lose what do you actually lose. Answer is nothing.

Am I saying that you never really win? No…but what I am saying is that the only thing can ever do is win.

What do I mean? As you play win or lose, you’re always winning and gaining the prize of knowledge and experience.

Now GET IN DAT ASS!!!

^
Yes. Once I overcome that hurdle, I’ll be a true winner.

Fuck the points. Just charge in and fight with all you’ve got. I guess this is what you call “fighting spirit” eh?

Somehow, I think I’m beginning to get the hang of it. Finally managed to dictate the pace of a match for once without over-relying on Third Strike, thanks to the advices. Now all I have to do is to fully eliminate this fear.

I decided to kick the habit of using DEF/Heal gems and get it on with the ATK/SPD gems. That would be a good way to start.

U fought Jibbo?

Hella tired of people calling shit broken w/o putting in any work for solutions to their problems

Oh man… after doing so well the last few days, I had a horrible, horrible night in Ranked last night. I went like 2-13 and just did not play well. Just doing very silly things, and taking it way too seriously (thus putting way too much pressure on myself). I raged out last night but seem to be over it now. :razzy:

I want to like this game, but the more I play, the more I feel inclined to just trade it in for something else. The only thing I can do semi-decent is footsies and zoning, but that’s because I am mostly coming from 3S to this. All the options in any given situation (alpha counter, tag, ABC, etc) feel like a ton of bricks hitting my brain. I tried picking up a few characters, but it’s not “jelling” with me. I am not naturally learning the mechanics, the tag cancels and combos aren’t coming smoothly, even after practice. I’ve been playing this game since it came out. I can barely beat people C rank, nevermind anything beyond. I get massively and severely raped online, it’s not even funny. It leaves me a blubbering mess on the floor. What do you say SRK? Has SFxT broken me or what.

In Soviet Russia, SFxT beaks Y…oh wait…

Yeah SFxT has left me a broken shell of a man … lol

Block stun on jump ins being so crap that mashed jabs > all.

Yeah. Can’t believe there are guys who could Shoryuken right after blocking a jumping HK. :frowning:

Yea, people do that… Just catch onto it early and blow them up for it XD

If you jump in deeper it’s a non issue.

SFxT is bizarre, the hitstun on jump ins is ridiculously huge, but the guardstun is almost 3S levels of small.

…and I thought +8 on block should be enough for me to make another attack. :frowning:

Another thing, it seems to be that it’s more difficult to do a cross assault out of the juggle. Before, I use the following combo after a launcher:

standing LP, crouching LK, followed by cross art (I modified it a bit into standing LP, crouching MK for more damage). Since I’m using a keyboard, there is a button assigned for MP+MK which should make the move easier, but instead of triggering the cross art, a special move happens instead. For example, I used the move on Juri and a Fuhajin comes out instead of the cross art. It’s even more difficult with Ryu and his Hadouken. No choice but to eschew this combo in favor of more efficient ones considering that it requires precision timing to pull it off compared to other combos. :frowning:

Frame advantage on aerial attacks assumes they are done as low to the ground as possible, so that +8 is actually the highest possible advantage.

However, this game encourages you to throw jump ins earlier to beat AAs and take advantage of the huge hitstun. So in reality, your usually getting about +4~+6 on a heavy jump in. Which may leave a hole to reversal.

Speed gems increase jump/fall speed and as such, give you more advantage off your jump ins.

I’ll have to try out the speed gems.

For me and maybe this is my SF4 experience talking (I’m pretty sure it is), but not being able to pressure with a character after a jump in just makes my brain hurt. Sure I can see a mashed DP working, and if you call them on it, they whiff and eat a big combo. But simply mashing on jab should not be a viable way to get out of pressure after a jump in (little risk, large reward). For instance Law, he is +8 on his roundhouse jump in, jump recovery is 4 frames, and his jab is 4 frames, and that’s after a very deep jump in, which most of the time isn’t the case. So if you know someone is mashing jab after a jump in, you can do one of 2 things with Law. Raw launcher, which is super risky even with bar to use on a tag in, or an I-frame ex move. All because I wanted to maintain pressure and not be jabbed out of everything…

AND THEN… once I do one of those things to beat the mashed jabs, the opponent doesn’t learn and continues to mash jab… This happened to me like 8 times last night. I think I’m done ranting now. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders hahahaha.

There should be a limit on the amount of boost combos you can do. Some people abuse this shit to the max.

i know…

LOL I feel you on this…I I mainly use boost combos as a quick easy punish but most people I play mash like 3 jabs into boost combo over and over. Even if there teammate has a pixel of health they will still boost them in. Some of these players need to learn single character combos. BTW what’s up with these people doing 3 tag cancels in a combo…dont they realize the damage sucks. I do more damage with one character than they can with 2.
