Damn, poor window. What did it ever do to you? I mean the stick clearly deserved it, but the window? :shake:
On a related note, I actually managed to get some trash talk from Kinetic Demise (he beat me pretty soundly, can’t lie about that), and I also got my first angry voice message in a long while, after sending a dude “ggs! :]”
Something about cocksucker, little bitch, blah blah blah etc. cocks… the usual.
Will post it soon, kinda’ salty tonight myself after I played like a moron in the latter half of my session.
This was great insight! I play very aggressively and I’ve been having problems in this game because of large spacing. Adaption is a good point, I’ve learned when your up close game is better than the other players then they start having the magnet effect on you (you walk forward they walk back). They don’t want to get near you so you just walk towards them till they are in a corner then rip their wimpy face off with julia lol.
In UMVC3 you cant really turtle that much because the levels are so small. If people start to play lame I just teleport with vergil OTG tag with zero and loop them in the corner they oh so much loved till their character bone explodes off the screen. Then I usually taunt and if I have dr. doom in his standing medium attack looks like he’s actually stomping on the turtles corpse haha, so I spam that. I usually get disconnects after that lol!
When you play fighting games for about 10 years…you get this thing…I think it’s called experience…putting that aside, you have to think about it from the other side sometimes and learn to adapt. It’s hard to do that kind of thing mid match but its something you can pick up on, thats kinda why i hate single elem tourny’s because it gives you no time to adapt and you can lose to some real gimmicky shit sometimes…still thats where match up knowledge comes into play…again another can of worms.
Still, 9 times out of 10 I just play because im board or trying to help out with tech and stuff…as college is eating alot of my time now…
All I play is rushdown even with zoning characters. Characters that don’t really have strong footsies must always be applying non stop pressure, not giving the opponent time to think. Time spent bitchin about how they claimed to have blocked correctly is just time setting up for my next mix up that they aren’t thinking about. That’s on a good day, though most of the time it’s Lili eats one combo and then i’m forced to chase them down a football field before the time runs out cause I no longer have life lead. Shit like that is the reason i’m going to be stuck with B+ limbo rank forever. =(
Lol u ran into him too? Lolz… I played him on jibbo stream a while back I beat him, our connection was rlly bad tho. Anyways he ended up coming into a room I was in and I skipped my turn cuz I was tired and cuz I aint wanna fight his lag.
So he sends me a message saying
"scared"
I reply “Nah but our connection is gon suck I live in NY you live in Cali and we’re gon lag pretty bad”
He then says
"but you didnt even try kid…u scared"
I reply “We’ve fought b4 and I remember we had a pretty bad connection”
He then says
"Whatever lets you sleep at night kid"
Now after this message I decide to view his profile and this is his bio
Kinetic Chica <3 I ONLY PLAY ONLINE! I do not go to tournaments because its always on ps3 and i love my controller & my TV =). I do not enjoy sitting next to randoms either and dealing with all that salt. I taunt too much and don’t want to give my opponent a shoryuken to the jaw. Top 100 in every Mortal Kombat. SFxT is my game now because SF4 is so old and MK is dead. I main Rufus because I love the way his belly jiggles (no homo). UNDEFEATED in all ft5 on sfxt. challenge me if you dare.
After reading this I decide to kinda play some mind games with him
So I reply" Ya dude I be having bad dreams about laggy matches lolz but hey Ima be going to all the majors that include Sfxt this year so maybe we’ll bump into each other some day"
He then says
"I dont fight pussies"
I reply “ummmm uhh ur weird…anyways hope to see u around”
He says
"I hope I dont see u around"
I reply “u prolly will because Ima be going to all the majors for this game and the worldwide 25th anniversary capcom tournies so we prolly will see each other”
Dude… his connection is like trying to swim in quicksand with lead weights tied to your arms. There was actually some KOF98-style input delay going on.
And yeah, his profile is hilarious, in a "did he actually write that? sort of way.
I’ll post the actual messages in the other thread (what do players message you or whatever its called).
…I wrote this really long rant about how much I suck and already plateaued yet a-fucking-gain, but I realized I just need to practice and play locally. And stop doing dumb shit like forgetting how to fucking anti-air or jumping like a moron and actually playing intelligent footsies instead of just throwing shit out there and seeing what hits the damn fan.
Every time you take damage you have made a mistake. Watch the last ten matches and find the common errors you make in your play patterns. I also think of the dumbest, and most dirtiest set ups in the shower, so maybe that might help.
I damn near have to make a choice between eating and a 50/50 chance at playing a session locally in the city(SF). There are some other people where I live(Berkeley) but they are losing love for this game fast and are either not caught up in skill level or just struggling to find a reason to play it. When I do make it to the local ones I can only manage like 20 wins before I lose to the same Heihachi/Nina player like 90 times. /rant
Yeah… I’m really tired of that too… there are some guys in my scene who would totally blow Harada if he walked into the room even though all he is doing is milking what was largely a miscommunication on Capcom’s part. I don’t like having to pay an extra 20 dollars, but frankly if you’re hard up for a 20 you probably shouldn’t be wasting money on games to begin with. Harada’s just being a troll, and the ridiculous fan service he’s throwing around for TTT2 is almost if not more disgraceful in my opinion than anything Capcom has done.
Which reminds me of this: One of those dudes totally saw the “bad girls” (or whatever) trailer for TTT2 and literally said “better than lame fan service we get from other companies, coughcough crapcom cough”
Dude… what…? Not only is that trailer bad, the models are horribly unattractive (and irrelevant)… at least Capcom’s trailers are largely just cutscenes from the games with game feature clips mixed in… instead of random glamour shots of overpaid cosplayers.
I swear, people are so ready to hate on Capcom they’d let Harada raw dog them in the ass.
Additionally, you need a rest period. Train hard, give it a couple of days without touching to game to let it sink in – if you grind too hard nonstop it won’t ever sink into your subconscious. I found this out after taking a long break from SFxTK – when I came back, even though I couldn’t do my EWGF combos, my general understanding of the game and ability to play had greatly improved. Playing more and against a varied collection of players is good, but taking some time to relax and let what you’ve learned sink in is even better.
I really need to play a lot more matches and get out of training mode, hopefully I can get a 360 this Friday and have one for my San Diego trip to practice and play online whenever I’m not at this conference.
Just realized that cross canceling could be more damage-efficient compared to cross arts. I was able to do 442 damage (no atk boost gems) expending 2 bars compared to a 3 bar cross art which dealth 409 damage under the same conditions. Cross canceling is less flashier but it sure does the job done.
I suppose you really need to master the canceling features in order to up your game to the next level.
cross canceling is the way of the future. I can get 451 damage off of 1 bar with hwo/nina. And people say the damage needs an increase… it was already toned down from previous builds when LMHH was half of someone’s health.
Man… I’m seriously confused (disclaimer: I didn’t read the SFxT manual).
I thought Cross Cancel = Alpha Counter. That’s 2 bars to AC and switch cancel. Do you mean switch cancel? o_O
Same, when I actually do the optimized combos in match I can get 501 with Juri/Law with 1 bar, easy. 492 IIRC with Juri/Lili. Less recoverable life that way too.
I just need to actually do the optimized stuff in match more often. -___________-
Yeah, I am going to “kinda’” take a rest, lol. Going to do light training the next few days, no long three-hour sessions online and such (I never plan these, people just hop online and then invite me and then boom… getting curb-stomped for three hours straight). An hour to study some things with friends, maybe take a couple days off from playing before my weekend lab session.
On the Harada thing: from my understanding, that’s always been his stance on DLC. That said, Aris brought up a good point on the Fray a while back as well: that stance can also be detrimental, as it can prevent a game from being improved after release when it needs it.
I didn’t find the Bikini thing too bad actually. More funny than gratuitous. Then again, I didn’t have a major problem with it in DoA either. Hell, DoA is pretty tame nowadays compared to everything out there (Lili’s Poison alt and its jiggle physics in this game comes to mind, lol).
My issue is more with the fans that actually do take it as “yeah we’re gonna’ stick it to the maaaaaaaan by playing Tekkennnnn!” rather than really being genuinely interested in learning Tekken.
Personally, I’m a huge Tekken fan first and foremost, and after being somewhat disappointed with T6 in some parts, I can’t wait to actually get back into playing it as my main game again (with this as a second and KoF as a third).
Isn’t it pretty much referred to as Tag Cancelling at this point anyway? :-p That’s what I’ve been calling it at least.
Yup, Cross Cancel = Alpha Counter, not sure why they didnt name it as Cross Counter for example.
What is the combo that you are talking about? Its possible to get more dmg by doing two times switch cancel instead of super art, which is really team/character specific.
Well, switch and tag are pretty much same thing, but since “switch” is the term in SFxT it could be used more.
So I’m fighting this Kaz/Juri player right? And we’ve already fought before with some noticeable lag, but not too game breaking. But then all of a sudden, there’s a HUGE input delay in my controls, and then he still manages to pull off long combos with Juri. I don’t want to straight up assume lag switch, but damn I am suspicious. If it really was a lag switch, I have only one question. Who at microsoft am I gonna have to go down on in order to have a button installed in my xbox where I can channel a satilite laser to blow up houses? Why the hell can’t people just learn to play the damn game?
Yeah dude I get that too, but it’s whenever I play ranked, for me it’s a combination of fatigue for playing for so long and difficulty to stay focused after losing a game or two when I feel like I shouldn’t. Taking a break or just messing around with characters you’re new to in endless usually helps.
