The Official Ranting Thread

Sad part is, that if he was playing sf4 he wouldve gotten some nice dps out

i bet he could’ve even placed top32 at evo .

In Tekken?
Without a doubt.

stop it, your butthurt showing up.

This game was created to settle arguments just like these.

It’s funny you think it’s free to bash however you like but get extremely upset when the mirror is placed directly in front of you.

I agree but this way is also a lot of fun.

OH BOY!

So I can say that Poison is a useless fanservice piece of shit character that only got in beause her(his, whatever) very small but VERY vocal fanbase kept spamming Ono with requests for their favourite tranny to make it into the game for the sheer fucking fact that Poison is a fucking tranny and not because he/she/it/potato would be an interesting character with a good playstyle that would be awesome in this game? breathe

GOOD.

Because that’s ALL Poison will ever be to me.
The ONLY fucking reason so many people care about that shitstain of a character is because of her dodgy past.
THATS FUCKING IT

If Capcom USA wouldn’t be so butthurt about punching women in the face back in the day almost fucking NO-ONE would give a flying shit about her because she’s be one of the many enemies Cody, Guy, and Haggar would beat the shit out of in Final Fight…

Wich is another problem I have with her…

She aint a SF character to me…
She hasn’t been playable in any STREET FIGHTER game before this one.

I was under the impression that this was a game where SF and TK’s famous fighters were going to beat the shit out of eachother.
And before any of you mention Cody and Guy, I will mention Street Fighter Alpha…

It’s MVC3 all over again–marketing wise.

Oh no, it’s not that. I’m guessing it’s just her character design (she looks rather skanky). I like her fighting style, though.

Minus all the vulgarity I can sorta agree. I mean lets face it, theres nothing about Poison that people wanted in the game except her gender background. Hell, she hardly had a character in final fight. And yes I do agree that in a game where its supposed to be ā€œStreet Fighter vs Tekkenā€ I do think Poison is a wasted slot. But hey I got some of the characters I want but I swear if Jin, ALex, or Miguel dont make it I WILL KILL ALL POISON FANS WHO ASKED FOR HER TO BE IN (just kidding :D)

Funny story: One of my girlfriend’s schools decided to do a carnival to raise money for clubs and classroom. They were supposed to do some random gimmick like you’d find at a carnival. After she got told no on a couple of ideas, I told her that we could just take the ps3, my two sticks and charge kids to play fighting games. After we got it all set up, I put HDR as a place holder before I switched to something with them flash 3D graphics.

Those kids banged the hell out of my sticks playing HDR ( I mean this in a good way). There were so many of them playing, losing, coming back with more tickets to keep playing that I didn’t get a chance to change to SF4 or T6. When I was finally able to switch to T6, the crowd died down quite a bit.

So I guess what I’m trying to say is that even kids that don’t know shit about fighting games know that any version of SF2 > new games.

hope that settles the argument. :arazz:

I wanted him/her in because now we have a vehicle through which to develop her character more thoroughly - SFxT will be the first step in really establishing him/her as an actual persona beyond his/her gender.

A large part of me doubts that people wanted him/her in JUST because he/she is a him/her. I’d like to believe that the fans (myself included) really wanted to see what could be done with the character in terms of personality and gameplay. From what I’ve seen, I’m pleased with the results.

As far as the Trangender/Transexual issue is concerned, I am pretty clueless. I’m trying to articulate here that while Poison’s gender is a potential point of interest (because as far as I know, it’s not an issue many fighting games really deal with, and it adds a unique flair to the character.) but is not the ONLY reason people like him/her.

Don’t bullshit. If this was true where are all of them roxy fans?

Fucked if I know.

My post was really just my opinions on it. Obviously I don’t speak for anyone but myself :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m so glad this thread was creating. I need a place to vent out my thought ON WHY KARIN DIDN’T MAKE THIS DAMN GAME!

Because she’s 100% bad fanservice.
Bad enough you will have endless teams of Juri and Poison no need to make the trolling worse.

Pink > Orange

The hell are you talking about?

My goodness, there’s a lot of hostility in this thread. Especially around Poison. Let’s keep the lively discussion going!

Have you played the game yet? Her playstyle seems fun to me, and it also seems to mesh well with the rest of the cast.

I absolutely agree with you that the history of the character is a major selling point. I just fail to see why that’s a problem. With the exception of perhaps Haggar, a vast majority of the Final Fight cast have a very minimal backstory in the original game. Let’s take a look at what we knew about the characters (circa 1990):

Cody: Boyfriend of Jessica, the damsel in distress. Adept street fighter.
Guy: Friend of Cody and Jessica. Master of Ninjitsu.
Rolento: Some military guy who throws grenades at you. Rolls around a lot.
Sodom: A guy wearing a samurai outfit. Fights with katanas, sais, and the like.
Hugo (Andore): A really big dude. Has a family made up of other really big dudes.
Posion: Female gang member who attacks you with acrobatic flipkicks. May or may not have a penis.

The 90’s beat-em-up genre rarely had much more story or characterization than that, because you really didn’t require much else. I loved the games when I played them in the arcade as a kid, and I know a lot of other people did too, so naturally nostalgia had to have been a big factor in urging the dev teams to give these characters a second look, whatever the reason.

As for another major factor, if I had to guess, would probably be visual appeal. Back when I would play Final Fight as a kid, I would always pick Guy because ā€œhe was the ninja guyā€, as I used to put it. He just plain looked cool. (Which, I suspect, is the only real reason for Sodom being the only other FF character along with Guy in Alpha, but don’t quote me on that)

I will mention Street Fighter Alpha as well. I will also mention that nobody really considered Cody and Guy Street Fighter characters until they were actually IN a Street Fighter game. Same thing goes for Sodom, Rolento, Hugo, Haggar, and even Maki. I would even go so far as to say that the gradual adoption of Final Fight characters into the Street Fighter series is part of an ongoing Capcom tradition that has been going strong for over 15 years now (beginning with Alpha in '95). Besides, Poison has been a strong candidate for inclusion in both the original Street Fighter 4 and Capcom Fighting All-Stars. Looking at it this way, you might say that Poison has been due for a while now.

Because from what I see, Poison was the lead character, while Roxy was always treated as the palette swap. The Mario to Roxy’s Luigi, if you will. Poison received the vast majority of the focus during the gender controversy. Poison was the one who was seen crushing on Cody as a playable character in Final Fight Revenge, and (perhaps most importantly of all) Poison was the one seen acting as a manager / fight promoter for Hugo in Street Fighter 3 and all subsequent games.

Taking all of these things into account, the story we now have from Capcom is of a transvestite from Los Angeles who moved to Metro City, got involved in the world of organized crime, befriended a giant, survived the exodus of the Mad Gear gang, and somehow managed to go on to have a successful career in the world of professional wrestling. To me, that sounds like one of the most interesting character arcs from a FF character since Cody’s debut in Alpha 3. I want to hear more about that story, don’t you?

I realize that a lot of people are weirded out by what Poison may or may not have tucked away in those Daisy Dukes of hers, but I personally couldn’t care less. When the game drops in March, I will be more than happy spending my nights teaming Poison with Kuma and trolling the earth until the end of time.

Problem, EVO 2012?
