The Official Qanba Fightstick Thread (New products Coming)

@Carbon, you need a 3.5 to 2.5 mm adapter. you can buy this at radioshack i believe. I also believe you will have to cut it, strip it, and re wire the adapter.

let me correct this: for some people (like me) the original xbox headset works perfectly with a adapter on the Q4.
others need to** rewire the 4-pin plug of the cable connecting the headphone PCB and the main PCB** (and NOT the adapter) which is pretty easily done in a couple of minutes.

Hi everyone,

Could someone please fill me into what the differences are between the Q2, Q3 and Q4?

I have the Q2 sitting in the cart at Play Asia, but was wondering if it had inferior parts or quality in comparison to the other 2.
I don’t really care much for using it with a PS3 as I do not have one, plus I understand there is more than enough room for modding in the future.

Thanks.

I personally do not like the Q2. My biggest complaint is the start, select, and home button placement. I feel i would hit it accidently sometimes. The Q3 is an awesome stick and it’s the only that’s casing is made of wood. The Q4RAF has compatibility for ps3, xbox360, and pc. I own the Q4 and it’s my favorite stick. I love the weight of it and the layout. It also has a handle.

I would recommend the Q4 or Q3 over the Q2 anyday.

Thank you nakadish, your info is of excellent help. Unfortunately (but not really) I happened to be strolling through my local shopping complex not 2 hours ago, and with a curious thought, I went in to an EB games. Turns out that the owner had 2 Mad Catz SF4 Round 2 Tournament sticks sitting out the back just waiting to be plucked. $200aud each they were, but since there was some ridiculous sale on, they happened to be discounted to $160. I drove home tonight with the feelings of both satisfaction and the worry of an empty wallet.

Now I am wondering if I should pick up the other and make a little cash on the side or possibly steer a fellow Aussie in the right direction…

Is it true that the new shipment of qanba q4 will already have the headset problem resolved?

Mine came in today, I’m pretty happy about it. Don’t use headsets in fighting games so I don’t know how it handles, but it does what I need it to do: be a full Sanwa stick that works on everything I play.

yes, the cable connecting the main pcb and the headphone pcb is wired correctly to fully support the headset provided with the stick and the official xbox headset (though you will need an 2.5-to-3.5 adapter still)

Enjoy your TE! if you’re on xbox live add me GT= naka187 I wanna see what aussies can do!

Where did you get those buttons?

How easy would it be to mod one of these to the Hitbox layout?

Thanks Nakadish, I will. Unfortunately I have about 40 online games under my belt as Abel, with 4 of those being wins. A newbie to SSF4, the last I had played was 2 turbo. First time using an arcade stick too, and it much better than a controller. If my skill improves I will certainly be plonking down some cash for a Q4/3.

I just got my qanba Q4 in the mail today and the echo problem is still there. Can I get the graph for the rewiring. skatestar178@yahoo.com

I buy all my parts from LizardLick. And It would be very difficult to mod this to be a hitbox. A waste of a qanba. If you want a hitbox, then buy just that.

May I ask what would make it difficult to mod one of these into a fightboard(Hit Box style layout), I was actually planning on modding a Q3 myself.

I guess it depends how comfortable you are with cutting 3 perfect circles into Plexiglas and metal, and if you have the right tools and skill to do it. Also the Joystick part of this stick is not individual switches, it is a plug in connector, so grounds would have to be spliced in.

And just to make sure you aren’t confused, the stick you linked, which is mine btw, Is a Q4RAF, not a Q3. The Q3 is made much differently, with a wooden side casing and single system support. But Just about all mass produced sticks have a metal top and bottom panel with a Plexiglas on top usually with art sandwiched in between. So to make a hitbox from a mass produced stick, would require the proper tools and skills. I just find it would make more sense to buy a hitbox or custom make one, instead of going through the trouble of voiding the warranty on the qanba and risk messing something up.

Thanks for the info. I wouldn’t be able to make the panel myself, I was gonna see if one of the many custom panel builders would help me out with that. The wiring shouldn’t be too difficult to figure out, especially if the joystick has a plug-in connector. Thanks again for your info!

Also, If anyone get’s a Q4 and wants to change their buttons, when you get your 24mm start button, be sure to get a screw in button. The snap-in i tried would not sit flat on the control panel.

If I want to change the art on my Qanba Q4RAF, can I use the stock plexi? I heard that the art for most sticks with a stock plexi are already printed directly on the plexi.
Also, how do I take off the plexi?

I am not sure how to take off the top plexi, as there are no visible screws, I’m sure it comes undone from the underneath. Also the art for the Q4 is printed onto the plexi, so you will have to purchase another plexi, which is offered by most qanba retailers.

you see these black round bits in the edges of the plexi?
get those off, gently. then the screws will magically unveil ;).
