Just a question for you guys: Why do you put the start button so close to the attack buttons, on the face of the joystick?
Is there a way to lock the start button?

I have a question, what’s the name of the “transparent” buttons ? I wanna mod mine with theses.

how come i dont see letters when i do the custom Template how to add them on to the Photoshop i want it to look like the Street fighter IV TE 1.
mariodood: the q4’s button design imitates original arcade boards where the start button is in the same position.
in my opinion, it is not really close to the attack buttons and you will probably only accidentally hit it if you mash hard :).
omega: maybe there is a different layer of the picture?
Agreed. I know we talked about this a few pages back but I’ve never once accidentally hit the start button and I play Marvel as my primary game.
A layer with the button layout doesn’t exist. You’ll have to create a new layer and include the button labels yourself. If you aren’t PhotoShop savvy or don’t have PS, I’m sure you can check with someone here on SRK to get a template that has that layer with the buttons you want.
Are you looking for the “official” button labels from the TE stick or just button labels in general?
If you just need button labels here is a modified version of D3Vlicious Qanba Q4 Template where I added the button labels from the “official” Qanba Template and color coded them. http://www.mediafire.com/?g7i976eaq4pt72c

Is there anywhere that I can pick up individual Q4RAF parts? I’m looking for a standard felt-covered bottom cover.
has anybody tested the responsiveness of the newer qanba pcbs compared to the cthulhu or hori pcbs? not because i think qanbas are bad sticks or pcbs, but i’ve heard that the newer pcbs, without a daughter board could change the results.
When is the q2 pro the stick that can be played left or right handed coming out?
maximiliano: afaik, the individual parts of qanba sticks are not being sold separately.
blac: it should come out in late april.
Has Qanba considered selling unpopulated (without stick/buttons/pcb) cases? I’ve talked to a few people who want to build custom sticks, but would rather stick with plastic cases as opposed to wood. It would be really interesting to be able to buy different colored cases for personal builds (much like building your own computer)
Just wanted to chime in about my experience with Qanba (if only for one day so far). I needed a stick for PS3 and X360 and at $150 I think the Q4 is the best deal out there right now. I had no trouble using it on both systems and didn’t notice any lag whatsoever on either system.
Taking it out of the box the first thing I noticed was the weight. This thing is pretty heavy for its size and feels really solid and sturdy. The felt bottom is a nice touch and the stick didn’t move at all in my lap. The next thing I noticed was the cosmetic damage, as in there was none whatsoever. I have owned around 10 MadCatz sticks, ranging from the SE to the FightStick Pro and all of them except one came out of the box looking like it had already been passed around at a tournament. From scratched up buttons, to torn artwork, to damaged casing, I’ve seen all kinds of damage on new MC sticks.
The Q4 on the other hand was immaculate. The ABS plastic case was actually a solid color, with no dings or scratches at all. I know a lot of people don’t care about this but it matters a lot to me. Overall I am extremely happy with this stick. Unless a firmware update makes these PCBs no longer function properly or the stick craps out on me in the next few months, I honestly do not see any reason to buy a MadCatz stick.
I still love this stick. Make sure to clean it with the cloth. 2 months in and still working flawlessly.
Will Seimitsu Screw-in buttons work for the Q4 with the plexiglass in there? Or do I need to use the snap-in buttons?
If I don’t have a handle on my q4 I can get one for free?
surge101: please write an email to zhongxianglong@hotmail.com and state your inquiry. don’t forget to include the exact model you own.
tokimonsta: they will work as long as you don’t use the short ones.
Having two springs in my joystick wont cause any harm to it will it? I have the regular jlf spring combined with a seimitsu ls 32 spring.
