The Official PS3 thread

wooo nice link

Two new maps came out for Fat Princess today, Frost Bite and Candy Mountain. Man I need to start playing this game again, it was so fun.

Does anywhere sell PS3 controllers cheap? I need a new DS3 and I really don’t want to pay $50 for one.

Ah my goodness, I think i posted this 3 times now.

If you go to Kmart there’s a sale this week for dual shocks at 35

I usually just skim so forgive me. Thanks though.

WANT. Maybe they’re selling the white DS3 - now that thing looks NICE AS HELL.

So I’m pretty pissed. The voucher for the God of War documentary that I can’t use? still can’t use it. However, now the fucking documentary is up on PSN store for $6. What the fuck happened to the already-ridiculous answer of, “it’s not available in your region?” Now it is, but I just have to pay extra for it? They better sort this shit out soon.

I’m having a lot of sound issues with my ps3 for some reason. I’ve been playing Borderlands the past couple of days and every now and again the sound starts to skip and then after about a minute of it skipping it goes dead silent for about a minute. It does this about every 20 minutes or so.

I don’t think it’s my discs because I don’t buy used games. Maybe it could have something to do with my sound settings or my HDMI cable? I’m not sure because I don’t know anything about this kind of stuff which is why I’m asking. It did the same thing with my God of War collection but all I did to fix that was unplug and replug my HDMI cord back in; which I already tried with Borderlands.

Any thoughts?

try with another cable, or with Component/RCA settings?

if you got speakers with a white/red hookup, try that.

Set video to HDMI and set audio through the av cables (the old ps2 cables) and hook that up to your speakers/headphones.

If that works it might be your hdmi cable. Try a different hdmi. If that is the case buy new ones at monoprice.com dirt cheap hdmi cables.

I’ve been having the same problem. When it happens, I switch the HDTV to a random cable channel, usually the sound comes back (sometimes there’s no sound on the random channel, and it’s connected through component.) then I switch back to HDMI 1 and the sound comes back, sometimes. Restarting my TV always makes the sound come back, though. I’m not sure if its the cable or the TV itself, though I want to try my HDMI 2 port or possibly use component cables for a few days to test it out to see what it could be. It’s pretty infrequent though, it happens at most once every two days, I switch channels/restart my TV and it’s all good again.

I get intermittent sound issues too, but it’s so infrequent that I don’t bother.

For those that are into this sorta thing, Famitsu has announced that the PS3 has the best game library of all time.

We already know all of this, but it’s interesting to see how the systems stack up according to a highly-regarded mag.

I’m actually kind of surprised to see Wii/DS so low - I guess it’s all the shovelware (which is no likely what brings down PS2 as well, to be honest). I’m also kinda surprised to see 360 nipping at the PS3’s heels - I didn’t think it had much of a following over there in Japan-land.

Highly-regarded to who?

Bullshit the PS3 does not have the greatest library of all time. I mean we’re comparing a system that has 171 games (By Famitsu’s count) toa PS2 which has well over 1,000 games. Fuckin numbers don’t even match up statistically.

Most of the people that make video games, and most of the people that play video games.

I mean, they’re no EGM or GMR, but… okay, I couldn’t keep a straight face there.

But really, I can’t think of another magazine that I would place above Famitsu personally.

edit:
@RSG3:
It’s percentage based, the information is all in the article. Like I said, I think it’s surprising to see some of the others so low down there, but when you look at it from a “# of pieces of shit for every gem” perspective, it’s pretty easy to see why the results are the way they are. I also think that PS2 has the best library ever simply due to the sheer number of good games, but then I’m not a “consumer” so much as I am an educated gamer.

Yea I’m just saying it’s a flawed system for judging the quality of the game. While the PS3 may have a better good game ratio I’d put money on the PS2 having more really really good games (though UC2 has made my top 10 greatest games ever list in little over a week lol. This game is fucking incredible. Worth the price of my PS3 alone.)

Metacritic lists 1608 PS2 games. 1069 of those games are listed with a rating LESS than 75 (66% of ALL PS2 games). 150 PS2 games have a rating over 85 (9%), 320 over 80 (19%).

Conversely, PS3 has 511 games. 284 are listed with a rating less than 75 (55%). 76 PS3 games have a rating over 85 (15%), 157 games over 80 (30%).

So, statisically, PS3 has a higher PERCENTAGE of higher quality games than PS2, and about half as many quality titles as PS2 itself, which is pretty good considering its been 3 and a half years.

Also, the title is misleading. Famitsu says PS3 has the highest rated library of CURRENT consoles.

percentage of good games has no rational real-world bearing. If percentage is what matters then I guess the neo geo pocket color and atari jaguar cd have the best libraries of all time.

of the three sony systems, PS1 had the most good games by far, then PS2, then PS3.

Atari Jaguar sucked at all games, even Alien vs Predator was fucked up.

What was the point of posting this fanboy bullshit?
