You must manually activate/deactivate accounts on your system. System Restore/Backup doesn’t do it for you.
Also, DON’T put your system on the floor. You’re blocking the vents.

I had a blast playing The Orange Box when I first got my ps3, but I decided to look at reviews for it last night, and people are saying it was a half-assed port…would I find the pc version that much better?
The difference in quality between the platforms for Orange Box was pretty distinct. If you enjoyed it on the PS3, you will find it borderline miraculous on the PC. It was indubitably the superior version of the game. The 360 version was better than the PS3 one as well, but not nearly as refined as the PC version.
The PS3 mainly suffered from lengthy load times and stuttering in some of the big fights (episode 2 pops to mind really). I didn’t find it as bad as people said, but it was definitely noticeable having already gone through all of the games on PC. The experience on PC was just smoother overall, IMO.
this sucks, i put to stacks of games on each side of the underside of the ps3 so it can vent. i heard putting the ps3 vertical kills it quicker, so i put it horizontal. this way the vents are blocked unless i do this. last time i could almost bake an egg on the back side of the ps3, thank goodness nothing bad happened. though i might still return it to get a new one just before the waranty runs out.
last q, if i take my hdd and put it in a new ps3 using the warranty, do i still keep all my accounts. cause some accounts got different dl’s on them. some i share with friends.
edit: the wifi of my ps3 is fucking up (maybe because of the one or two times it couldnt vent very well). my lil bros is complaining telling me when he plays mw2 the game loses connection at times. and does so every couple a times an hour maybe.
Not unless you back it up, then do a System Restore on the new system; or just do a straight System Transfer using an ethernet cable between systems.
So I am in the process of finishing up Resident Evil 5 with a really good friend of mine. We are having a blast but I know that game is really short so I was wondering if there are any other good co-op games that don’t require online? Kinda like how Resident Evil 5 has their offline co-op?
whered you hear this?
Lost Planet 2 for one. Even more fun than RE5 imo…but the split-screens for the game are unusally small.
Could be just a random rumor.
I’ve had my PS3 on vertical for over 2 years now. I’ve yet to have a single problem with my system.
Question: Is Sony ever going to enable PSP games from the PSN store to be played on the PS3… without actually owning a PSP?
Another Question: Will Sony ever update incompatible PS3 consoles to be PS2 backwards compatible?
I know both are questions asked all the time, but everytime I google I can’t get straight answers from any source. I know currently, none of these things are possible, but I’m wondering if in the future it’s planned or not.
I doubt it because that would kill the little amount of money Sony actually makes off of the PSP in the US and then the good amounts of money the PSP makes in Japan.
Nope. It would only hurt their business to do so.
I don’t think they will, considering the more profitable option would be to release HD updates of older PS2 games (like we’re seeing with the Sly Cooper Collection), or to release them on the Playstation Store.
Even if they somehow do purely software emulation for PS2 discs, expect to pay a licensing fee for that software.
Also, leaving your system vertical is typically better, as heat rises and will go out the side vent. The top of your system will probably get REALLY hot, but the insides won’t.
Has anyone played Trinity Universe? I’ve been thinking about getting it. From what I’ve seen and read it looks really fun. It looks a lot like a dungeon crawler/turn based RPG, similar to the chocobo dungeon games (with out the whole…running off a DOS program.). Which would be amazing. But, on the other hand…it’s an NIS game…and I’ve hated pretty much every NIS game I’ve played (which is close to all of them)
Hokuto Musou comes to mind.
Some models of the PS3 did actually use software emulation, while some had hardware emulation.
thanks for the info. I went and deactivated my account from my friend’s PS3 that he’s selling.
I was wondering if PSone Classics on PSN are in HD or “better quality” compared to the disk and if the difference is much. I prefer to have a hard copy of the game (yes I know it sounds stupid) and it will probably be the last game I play on PS2 along with XII and maybe X-2…
BTW, my PS3 YLOD, I’ll get it fix but haven’t decide which route to go yet.
I said purely software emulation.
The 80GB PS2 compatible models still had the PS2 graphics chip in it, as it is difficult to emulate the graphics due the way it renders lines.
The PSN digital copies of PS1 Classics are NOT HD. They are simply ISOs that the PS3 can boot.
Either way, disc or digital, PS3 can upscale it.
Pretty impressed with the PS3 so far; lots of freebies on PSN for me to download and I like the XMB interface. Haven’t played any Blu-Ray movies yet, but I heard the PS3 is one of the best Blu-Ray players on the market, true?
EDIT: Dumb question. I have PS1 games (actual discs). Am I able to play PS1 game on my PS3 Slim? I know I can’t play PS2 games, but what about physical PS1 games?
