The Official PS3 thread

niiiiiiice. Heh, funny thing is…and I have to nitpick here…Alex Mercer from Prototype would’ve caught that guy so much faster than Cole in that video. Cole does appear to be faster in this one though, but Alex Mercer still moves and glides/dashes around like the damn Flash in comparison, and I love it.

Lightning Tornado was too awesome though.

Casual gamers don’t care enough about to take care of games. Core gamers obviously don’t buy games for no reason, just play sport games, abandon the games from a great generation, and just leave perfectly great games on the floor so they can be stepped on to be broken, and or scratched. Come on now, you know this. Too see such a thing go to waste; It’s enough to make you wanna cry.

…again. Him being neglectful for his stuff has nothing to do with what kind of gamer he is. It just means he doesn’t take care of his shit. That’s it.
So what if he plays sport games or war games? That’s what he likes so that’s what he plays. Who gives a fuck? And A LOT of people switch over when the next generation comes around. Actually, pretty much everyone does.
You don’t see people running around with Gameboy pockets still, do you? No. You don’t.

I sort of care what games he plays because he sort of tries to befriend me sometimes and outside of games, there really isn’t anything we have in common. Generally sport games are the bottom of my list and if we can’t interact in that small tidbit that we do have common, then things will sort of fall flat. We are family after all. If I still had my original Game Boy, for damn sure I would still be playing it. With the few people I’ve seen with portable consoles, I’ve seen three GBAs and that was about three consoles ago. I doubt anyone has played 100% of the games they wanted to play. Keepin the oldies gives you a chance to play some of those that you weren’t able to before. I know some can be emulated on PC, but it just doesn’t feel right. You have to play it on the console that it came from.

HMm haven’t been here for awhile.

Just a little update: Bought PS+ the first day; and I got to say. I haven’t regretted one thing about it.

Anyone in Canada check out the new Video store? I’m still in the middle of browsing through it, but I thought I’d give a heads-up.

Well, if you don’t have Wipeout HD, PS + pretty much pays for itself in the 1st month.

Also, you get 3 months free if you get a year subscription now. And the copy of Wipeout HD is yours to keep even after your subscription expires apparently.

There is easily $30+ worth of free shit and discounts this month alone in PS+. Whether or not it is worth it is up to the individual to decide, but I’ve already gotten my money’s worth from my purchase. I look forward to seeing what they add.

The background/scheduled downloading is pretty nice as well. I’m a little annoyed that you can’t set multiple PS3’s to download “after hours” (it told me that it can only be active on one PS3 at a time), but oh well. Not that big of a deal.

I’m happy with my purchase.

I’m going to have to agree with Stuart on this. I’ve taken in over hundreds of trade-ins and dealt with many different types of people. There’s just as much of a chance of a core gamer coming in with a disc that looks like he was bored one day and decided to run it over with his car for shits and giggles as much as a casual gamer. Sometimes I’d like to think it’s 80% the people who play sports titles strictly but then someone brings a PS3 game with scratches over the top of the disc and the bottom of the disc just looks like WTF. insert picture of Kenshiro spouting man tears

So you’re trying to change his interests so they appeal more to you so you can be friends with him? That’s pretty narrow minded and self serving. If you can’t find any other common ground with people other than gaming tastes then, well, that’s pretty damn sad. Gaming is a CASUAL thing people do in their spare time as a hobby. People are more than just hobbies.

I’d imagine they went out of thier way to scratch a PS3 game, due to the anti-scratch coating on Blu Ray discs.

Oh really and did you research this yourself or which university did you get this from?

I consider myself a casual gamer, and I do play mainly sports game and popular titles with friends like COD and what not. So does that mean I don’t care enough to take of games? What kind of stupid ass assumption is this?

You know what your problem with your cousin kids are?

THAT THEY ARE MESSY! Not that they are casual gamer.

You DUMB FUCK!

GTFO!

P.S My cousin who a hardcore gamer is like that. He is 22 and a pothead… that owns about every single system, but whenever you open a case for a game a different title would be in it. Why? Because he is messy, not because he is a casual or a hardcore gamer.

… 10xar :expressionless:

So I was checking out the newer PSN Premium Themes on youtube…

I was watching EDVJWzeNbq4]this Prem Theme and it just so happened that song was playing in the background. I swear a tear almost rolled down my right cheek.

God, I’m such a ***.

Yeah the extra protection on the discs makes it hard to scratch up but usually ever 2-3 weeks there’s at least a couple ps3 discs that come in that make you shake your head.

It does go extremely well together!

For anyone who’s experienced a YLOD, what did you do about it? Thoughts? Pros? Cons? I’m trying to decide what I want to do.

Have my PS3 for 2 years; haven’t gotten it yet. I’d like to know about this too.

First time it happened, Sony fixed my console and returned it. 5 months later and it did it again and i optioned for the slim PS3. Its been smooth sailing since then.

If i were you i would just get the slim PS3 and call it a day.

is there a FREE no bullshit .mov converter that will allow me to convert any .mov vids to a format that the ps3 can play??
