Oh you Dirty whore Rcaido. (I mean this in a Good way) Awsome Set up!!!
is $100 for a bare cab a good price? No pix though, he wants me to go check it out instead.

I bought a bare cab for $1 once. (Still havenāt done jack shit with it.) Hell, Iāve gotten cabs with working monitors at arcade auctions for $25.
If itās a rare or valuable cab, I could see paying that much, maybe more. But if itās some standard run-of-the-mill cab I wouldnāt blow that much.
Depends on the cab. If itās a dedicated machine, please don;t destroy it. If itās a Dynamo or something similar, and itās solid, with coin doors and monitor, $100 is fair. Just picked up an Evangelion Pachinko Machine! Will be snagging it on Thanksgiving.
Thatās all I got. I donāt really use it, it just sits in my garage for the most part. I have KI2 PCB/HD as well that plugs/plays, and MK1 and MK2. My sound boards are jacked on the MK games though. Itās probably been over a decade since I had anything but KI in there though. I did fix the marquee light and put new buttons/joystick in recently, but now I have a monitor issue where itās dark. Eventually Iāll get around to fixing it.
Recently traded some stuff for this beauty!
Evangelion 2nd Impact
First Venture into Pachinko. So far Iām loving it, although I don;t fully understand the gameā¦yet!
What do you guys suggest for proper seating. Iām thinking of using drum thrones. Sat on a couple in Sam Ash today and found one I really liked, small sturdy and strong but unfortunately in that store it comes with drums only. -_- When I told the less than helpful associate what my intention for the throne was he was like, āSo you donāt play drums?ā.
That panchinko is awesome! Finally found this a month ago. Didnt finish putting everything together yet so no pics of the cabinet yet.

I was going to get drum stools too but found some cheap ones in ikea. They have all sizes. Ill try to find a link to the one i got.
Wow itās been over a year since I posted any progress in here.
Both of the Blast City cabs are done:

And I picked up a few new cabs:
Crisis Zone (needs monitor color adjustment and potential cap replacement kit):

NBA Showtime (Ed Boon & Midway gave this exact cab to Tips & Tricks magazine back in '99. Has dipswitch to alternatively boot NFL Blitz 99):

XMen 4 Player (Currently rewiring and putting on new CPO, already have new buttons & sticks via Paradise Arcade Shop)
Only pic I could find from previous owners

Initial D v3 (Need to troubleshoot and fix why Naomi2 isnāt displaying on monitors, DC hooked up via VGA confirmed monitors are BEAUTIFUL)

and I have a few others⦠I think Iām up to 11 or 12 cabs now? #addicting
YO DAT ALPHA 3!!!
YO DAT ID3!!!
I should probably contribute to the arcade porn in here seeing as Iāve finally got something to be proud of. This picture was taken around Halloween; as of this month (December) itās fully functional but still not drop dead sexy yet. Still needs a bunch of elbow grease but Iām glad it works considering I was limited with tools/time/space/patience. Burned through a couple of parts (literally) getting the fan system operational.
Looking for open suggestions on materials to use as a shell in lieu of painting-sanding-painting-sanding-painting. Any ideas welcome.

Blackboard vinyl (a bit thicker than normal vinyl) is a good option for the front sections/CP, it can come out pretty well if the surface is prepared well and applied correctly:

Youāll probably need to paint any side pieces though.
@ericleroi About how thick do you think the vinyl can be purchased? I figure the thicker it is, the less prep work Iāll have to do.
My vote would go For NiDoc⦠EVERYTHING is cooler when it looks like itās made out of carbon fiber.
@PlayDoh003 You mean, Di-NOC? Looks sexy. May need to consider that seriously. My balltops are the carbon-fiber meshy looking ones anyway.
Well, made some progress today painted the inner monitor area with some black rust-o-leum, rewired the fans and gave them individual controls next to the master volume control, got the marquee and control panel lights active and finally drilled the speaker holes into the monitor smoked acrylic and got it attached. Now I can play without blinding myself and my asian daughter can learn the art of street fighting without my asian wife yelling at us.

It comes in a standard thickness as far as I know so Iām not sure thereās any choice there. For vinyl, if itās too thin it will show up imperfections easily. If itās too thick, it makes wrapping around edges /angles more difficult. Blackboard vinyl is a good balance imho.
Cab is looking good btw.
My new mame pedestal that pays homage to SF II Champion Edition.
